Model # CSPAXI11
Hayward electric spa heaters contain all of the sophisticated features and capabilities of heaters twice their size. The electric heaters fit into compact spaces - even under spa skirts or steps. Like all Hayward heaters, they are easy to install and service.
I have an old built-in Baja spa that I estimate holds between 300-400 gallons. The original gas heat exchanger does not seem to be working and I am considering replacing it with one of the Hayward electric heaters. In the winter, the ambient air temp of the sunroom the spa is in is about 60-65 degrees, so I am guessing the water temp is around there when the pump is not running. What size (Kw) is recommended so I can raise the water temp to 104 degrees without waiting more than 2 or 3 hours? Tks
Hi, CK. This 11 kW Spa Heater will be able to heat 400 gallons of water to 104 degrees in approximately 3.5 hours.
Is there also a heater element here for Electric Spa Heater 11 KW - CSPAXI11 If anything, please send specifications and prices to my email.
Hi, Yudha. This unit requires (2) of the 5.5 kW Element - CZXELE7623. Use the link provided to view price and specs.
Can I attach a water temperature sensor to the 11 KW - CSPAXI11 Electric Spa Heater Permanently? What products match this?
Hi, Yudha. You're unable to attach a water temperature sensor to this unit. This unit is equipped with a thermostat.
I use Electric Spa Heater 11 KW - CSPAXI11 For jacuzzi pools with a water volume of ± 25m³. But the problem arises because the temperature in the water is only 35.4 ° C, what is the maximum temperature that should be reached with a volume of 25m³ of water?
Hi, Yudha. The max temperature reached can vary depending on several factors like power, flow rate, surface area etc. The thermostat setting will also play a factor since it's analog.
What is the model number fro electric heating elements in a Hayward CSPAXI 11 KW heater I asume there are two?
I have just installed the c-spa-xi. check all connection I have power to the contactor as soon as I turn it on about 10 seconds the breaker trips. do you have a probable cause.
Hi, Gary. Check the breaker size to make sure is it 60 amps.
I have a Hayward model CSPAXI11 HEATER that is leaking I think from the tank, replace with a new heater or fix it? at lease 6+yrs old
Hi, Vance. If the unit is leaking from inside, I'll recommend that you replace the entire unit. It will be wise to inspect the unit to find out where it is leaking from and to determine the cause of the leak so if you decide to replace it or possible repair it, it would not happen again.
I Have a inground spa how far away can the heater be from the spa and function properly
Hi, Larry. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate the info. You can reference the Hayward Electric Spa Heaters Manual for installation requirements and specifications.
The location of the heater is about 75' from my breaker panel. What gauge wire will I need to use?
Hi, Kory. We're unable to provide you with that info. You will have to consult a licensed electrician.
I have a real wooden hot tub holds about 500 gal. I need an electric heater and controls
Hello, As long as the spa pump is strong enough, you should be fine with this heater.
what is the weight of this heater?
Hi, Avison . We only have the shipping weight of this unit which is 14 lbs.
how many hours before warming the water in estimated 8 cubic meter of fresh water in my jacuzzi?
Good morning, This number is based on a few different variables and is different case by case. Depending on starting water temp and air temp. Usually within an hour but sometimes more.
My heater is leaking from below the internal water tank, is there a way to repair this or do I need to replace the unit?
Good afternoon Brent, The tank is stainless steel so you would have to have it welded and pressure tested and there is no real guarantee that this will work. You can call Hayward and see if they have any recommendations @ 1-800-657-2287. I would recommend just replacing the unit.
I need 36Kw Three phase heater.is it available with you?
Hi, Withana. Unfortunately, we do not carry an electric heater that matches those specifications.
We have a 3,000 gallon salt water pool. I called Hayward and was told that a CSPAXi11 would be OK for our size pool. Double checking, (1) can we use/have installed a CSPAXi11 since we have a very small confined area for a heater, and we can only use electric. (2) what will we need besides a bypass and check valve when installing CSPAXi11. (3) does this heater come with double heating coils? and one real crazy question, (4) can we use two of these CAPAXi11 side by side for faster heating?
Hi, The Hayward CSPAXI11 unit will be able to heater your pool. This unit will be fine if you have limited space and will require a dedicated 50 amp for each unit. You can install multiple units side by side for faster heating and this unit only has one heating coil.
my pool is 50,000 gallons. is this the right heater? do you have the right heater (electric)?
For a 50,000 gallon pool you will want a bigger unit. If you are wanting electric, a heat pump will be the way to go. I would recommend one that is at least 130k BTU's. So the RayPak 133k, the Hayward 140k, or the Pentair 140k heat pumps would be the ones you want to look at.
hi the 240 volt equal to 2 live line and each line equal 120 volt ? or 1 live and 1 neutral equal 220 ? can i put transformer 3 phase to convert to 1 phase ? because 46 amp too high,i dont have 50 amp breaker ?
This unit uses a straight 220v electrical connection. You will need to contact the manufacturer Hayward Pool Products at 908-355-7995 for the specific wiring questions you have asked.
Will your heater work on an above ground pool 12'x42"? Thank you
Guisselle, This will not work on an above ground pool.
What size are the outlets?
These outlets are 1-1/2".
We are building a new 1600 gallon spa. Will this heater work for this size? We want to electric because we have solar. Thanks
Yes this heater will work well for this size spa.
Is there an DIY video on installation?
Hi Joe, Their is not an DIY installation video available for this unit, you would have to follow the installation instructions provided in the Hayward Electric Spa Heaters Manual.
What happens if I use this heater with my saltwater spa? Thanks
Jay, A salt system would corrode the "guts" of the quicker than normal. You will want to install a check valve in between the salt system and the heater to help prevent this.
What size circuit breaker is required for this unit?
This heater requires a 60 amp breaker with #6 wire.
I have a 14,000 gallon inground pool. Will the CSPAXI11 be sufficient?
No, the CSPAXI11 would not be sufficient. Your size pool would require something like the 24kw Coates heater. The model number is 12424CPH.
Can this heater be used in an in ground swimming pool?
The CSPAXI11 can be used in a swimming pool, but it will take the heater a while to reach the desired temperature. You will be better off buying a larger sized gas/propane heater.
Do you sell a replacement element for the Hayward CSPAXI11?
Yes, for the 11kw Hayward CSPAXI11, you would need 2 of the 9280-15.
What is the maximum flow rating for the Hayward CSPAXI11?
The maximum flow rating is 70 gallons per minute. Anything over 70 gpm requires an external bypass.
Can this Hayward heater be used on an 18' round above ground pool?
Yes the CSPAXI11 heater can be used on an above ground pool.
Can this heater be used outdoors?
According to Hayward, this spa heater is rated for both indoor and outdoor use.

(1 out of 5 stars) Stainless tank is not welded properly
Reviewed By: Wojtek B. from Saint Laurent, QC ()
Pros: Heats very well, big inlet and outlet 1.5"
Cons: poor manufacturing quality, short life
After about 6 months of installation, the stainless steel container started to leak from the weld. I have two units like this, and the second one started leaking after 10 months. It says on the cover that the max pressure should be lower than 60 psi, my pressure was about 20 psi, so it looks like the manufacturing quality issue.
(5 out of 5 stars) Great Spa heater
Reviewed By: Raymond R. from Fort Worth, Texas ()
Pros: Easy to install
We have a home built 1,500 gallon "poolette" that we use as a splashing pool in the summer and in the winter we cover it and heat it for use as a spa. Previously we used a Vulcan 6kw heater from Grainger, but we had a pretty high failure rate. The Hayward heater brings the water temp up much faster and was very easy to install.
(4 out of 5 stars) Whirlpool Heater
Reviewed By: Dr Bink from New Bern, NC ()
Pros: Easy Installation
Cons: Element chamber developed leak around reset button
Package arrived in good condition with no defects. This system is used in a YMCA whirlpool setting, and the system is on 24/7. For the most part the system is reliable with the exception of the pressure switch, used in shutting system off if there is no water pressure. Because of the chlorination and chemicals we use for sanitation purposes, the unit tends to corrode from the inside out so longevity is only about 5-6 years. Unit is well put together and the price was better than our local Pools Plus, they wanted $759.00 for the same unit.
(5 out of 5 stars) replacement heater
Reviewed By: Kris from Vancouver, WA ()
Pros: Small and easy to install
Used this heater as a replacement for original. Its smaller and works just as well. Two wires (plus grounding copper wire) to hook-up. Like the stainless steel heater tank (original was carbon steel0.
