The CSPAXI11 can be used in a swimming pool, but it will take the heater a while to reach the desired temperature. You will be better off buying a larger sized gas/propane heater.

Jay, A salt system would corrode the "guts" of the quicker than normal. You will want to install a check valve in between the salt system and the heater to help prevent this.

A  Answered on 9/12/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Scott W.

For a 50,000 gallon pool you will want a bigger unit. If you are wanting electric, a heat pump will be the way to go. I would recommend one that is at least 130k BTU's. So the RayPak 133k, the Hayward 140k, or the Pentair 140k heat pumps would be the ones you want to look at.

We have a 3,000 gallon salt water pool. I called Hayward and was told that a CSPAXi11 would be OK for our size pool. Double checking, (1) can we use/have installed a CSPAXi11 since we have a very small confined area for a heater, and we can only use electric. (2) what will we need besides a bypass and check valve when installing CSPAXi11. (3) does this heater come with double heating coils? and one real crazy question, (4) can we use two of these CAPAXi11 side by side for faster heating?
 Reply

A  Answered on 11/11/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, The Hayward CSPAXI11 unit will be able to heater your pool. This unit will be fine if you have limited space and will require a dedicated 50 amp for each unit. You can install multiple units side by side for faster heating and this unit only has one heating coil.

Good afternoon Brent, The tank is stainless steel so you would have to have it welded and pressure tested and there is no real guarantee that this will work. You can call Hayward and see if they have any recommendations @ 1-800-657-2287. I would recommend just replacing the unit.

Hi, Vance. If the unit is leaking from inside, I'll recommend that you replace the entire unit. It will be wise to inspect the unit to find out where it is leaking from and to determine the cause of the leak so if you decide to replace it or possible repair it, it would not happen again.

I have an old built-in Baja spa that I estimate holds between 300-400 gallons. The original gas heat exchanger does not seem to be working and I am considering replacing it with one of the Hayward electric heaters. In the winter, the ambient air temp of the sunroom the spa is in is about 60-65 degrees, so I am guessing the water temp is around there when the pump is not running. What size (Kw) is recommended so I can raise the water temp to 104 degrees without waiting more than 2 or 3 hours? Tks

A  Answered on 2/5/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Bucky. The outside air temperature will affect hot how the water gets if the spa is not well insulated an or covered when heating. As for the unit tripping the breaker, several factors can cause that. The unit drawing too many amps, or a bad breaker.

We have a C-spa XI heating a 2,200 gallon exercise pool. We have replaced the elements a couple times due to errant chemistry, but the water chemistry is fine now. However, the heater will not turn off while the pump is running. Adjusting the temp all the way down to Off does nothing. It does shut off then we turn off the pump and/or the circuit breaker, which is dedicated. Can you troubleshoot this and tell me what we need to replace?

Hi Janet, there are not too many parts in this Hayward C-SPA XI Series heater to go bad.  I would check the Thermostat, CZXTST3006, and the   Contactor, 240v 50amp; 240v Coil (dpc50-240) - 45FG20AG to make sure it is not stuck on.
