These filters have a 1.5 inch drain port that you can thread a water spigot to then attach any standard water hose to for draining. You can get these spigots from any local hardware store.

If the center core lifts out when removing the cartridge, is there a particular way it must be reinstalled?

Hi, Ray Hardy. The Center Core can only be installed one way. You will have to line up the groves with the grove in the tank body.

How to drain water from pool through the filter?

You can install a 1.5-inch spigot on the drain port then attach a water hose so you can drain in when the pump is on. Or you can add a 3-way valve in the plumbing before the filter and attach a backwash hose to that.

Shut off pool timer and tripped breaker
Drained water from old smaller filter
Took picture and marked influent & effluent lines
Cut pvc pipe to filter and removed old filter
Placed larger filter into position
Original pvc pipes did not line up
With multiple fitting made corrections to piping
Using 90* sweeps and couplers dry fit all new connections.
Leveled new filter into positions and adjusted piping.
Marked pipes to ensure proper locations prior to using pvc primer & glue.
Made all connections and allowed for glue to set.
Filled new filter and checked for leaks.
Flooded new pipes as well to check for leaks
Installed new cartridge into filter
Replaced filter cover, primed pump
Breaker and time clock on
Released air in filter at vent
Checked for leaks again
New filter system installed and works great.

Replaced a very old TEAL 100 sqft. filter housing that took filters that were getting very hard to find and super expensive. Typically the old replacement filters only lasted about 4 months and cost me 4X what the filters for this filter housing cost. A little tricky to get the housing open at first, but applying pressure on one side while pulling up and twisting got it open. So much better than our old housing and only required 3-4 hrs to replace and adopt the pipes to match.

I replaced a tired old DE system with this unit. It is clean looking, efficient, super easy to DIY install, and the staff at INYO were available immediately to offer support and recommendations for sizes and application. It has been in system for 1 month with 0 problems.
