I have this heat pump now but it stopped working. Would it be a diy job to swap out with an identical new unit?
Hi, Davis. These units have to be installed by a professional or else the manufacturer warranty will be limited to only 60-Days. If it is professionally installed, the warranty will be 2 Years Parts & Labor; Compressor Parts and Labor – 10 Years, Titanium Heat Exchanger – Lifetime.
What size electrical breaker is required for the 125000 but heat pump
Pentair recommends at least a 50 amp breaker for this heat pump.
We have a 16'X36' pool that averages 4'. Total gallons approx. 18,000. We are in Missouri but our water temp has already reached over 90F in mid June. We do have a dark blue automatic cover but the liner is a light blue. We are looking into a heat pump/chiller but are unsure what size BTU unit is suitable. We also have seen the Glacier units (which I understand you do not sell currently) as an option. I assume there is a cost to having the single phase 230v unit. We are electric.
My Pentair 460933 Ultra temp 120 temperature sensor is reading very high temps. This shuts down the unit. Can my sensor be easily replaced?
We live in Palm Springs, CA. & in the final stages of planning for a pool. 30x9 - 4.5 deep, with attached 7x7 spa. Not sure if a heat/cool pump would be cost efficient for us. Most of our friends who live here year-round, like us, say that the cost of heating with natural gas in the winder is just too high, so they don't use their pools from Nov to May. We added 3000 kwh to our solar system to accommodate the addition of a pool, but not sure if should consider a heat/cool pump. Your thoughts?
Hi, York. A heat/cool unit would be good for CA weather. You can cool the pool in the hotter months and warm the pool in the colder months. We do not sell a lot of the heat/cool unit but it's available for those who would like it.
Hi, I am living in southern CA. I am very interested to buy this one. Will this works as good as in other area with high humidity such as FL? Thanks!
Hi, Vu Tran. Yes, heat pumps are designed to work in high humidity environment.
Dear Sirs What is the best price for this equipment? What is the weight? Cordially German Alberto
Hello German- The best price for the Pentair 460933 is the price advertised on the website, the weight would be 270 pounds.
I was told by my pool installer that if I ordered this pump online, that the warranty would only be 60 days parts vs 3 years if he did install. Is the warranty less if we order online vs. brick and mortar with a pool installer?
Hello Jack- No that is not true, Pentair states that the warranty for their heat pumps is 2 years parts and labor, 10 years on the compressor parts and labor, and lifetime on the heat exchanger if installed by a qualified installer. If it is not you only have a 60 days warranty on parts. This is whether you buy it from a brick and motar or online retailer. Here is a link to their warranty online: http://www.pentairpool.com/pdfs/LimitedWarrantyCard.pdf
once installed how long to heat a normal home pool?
It is going to depend on how many gallons your pool has and how many degrees increase you are wanting, but normally takes a couple days to get to your desired temperature and once there it will regulate and maintain your set temperature.
I recently had this model professionally installed. Once the unit turns on we continually get a significant amount of condensation from underneath the unit, the sides and from the connected PVC piping. I don't think it's a leak and It looks as if its a rainfall. Is it normal to get this much condensation with Temperatures in the low 70's and the unit Temperature set at 86 degrees? Thanks
Hello- Yes, this is a very common issue when it comes to heat pumps. They do produce a lot of condensation, which may appear as a leak.
What is the difference between 460933 and 460963 units? regards
The only difference is the color. The almond color is what most of Pentair's product come in, not sure why the black one is more expensive but I am thinking it is because it absorbs heat better than the almond one. Just a guess, do not quote me. Pentair's number is 800-831-7133 if you wanted more specifics, but besides the color, they are the same heat pump.
How does this unit compare to the hayward 125 BTU heat pump for noise and performance?
Hi, Dan. Base on the performance data provided from the Ultra-Temp Brochure and the Heat-Pro Brochure the Hayward HP21254T outperforms the Ultra-Temp 120 unit. Unfortunately, the decibel ratings are not listed so we're unable to provide you with that info.
If I have a 20 x 40 inground pool, what size heater do I need.
Yes, the 125,000 BTU model would be a great fit for your pool size at about 24,000 gallons.
Can you share the noise characteristics of this pump? I am capped at 48 dBA at 2 meters in my area and I cant find any information on this in the manual.
Hi Ben, The decibel rating is not available for these units in any of the documents we have or the Pentair website, you will have to contact Pentair at 800.831.7133 to find out that info.
Can you tell me the decibel rating on the Pentair model #460933?
We don't have that information, I'd recommend calling Pentair for that information. There number is 1-800-831-7133.
Is there a language setting? My contractor seems to have set it in Spanish and guess what, no hablo español!
There is a language setting. To access this menu, press the Up and Down arrows simultaneously. While in the Operator Setup Menu screen, if no activity is detected after 15 seconds, the main screen is displayed. To get back into the Setup menu you must press the Up and Down arrows simultaneously again. The first setting will be Language Selection and may say "Idioma". The up and down arrows will allow you to change this. ¡Buena suerte!
My pool is 18' x 36' by 54" is the 460933 the right size to heat my pool to about 85? Also does the unit come with everything needed to install it to our pentair easy touch pool panel and pool?
Hi Debbie,Yes that unit will do the job and yes it will hook up to the easy touch, but I would double check with Pentair before purchasing that unit. Their number is 1-800-831-7133.
Is there a $150.00 rebate with the pentair heat pump, model number 460933?
Yes, the 460933 Pentair UltraTemp Heat Pump has a rebate available. This is taken from Pentair's rebate rules: "Purchase an UltraTemp® High-Performance Heat Pump until August 31, 2016 and get a $150 reward. You must submit your reward and warranty information within 30 days of purchase."
What is the difference between 1 phase and 3 phase?
Hi Debbie, 1 Phase is the electricity used in residential properties where 3 phase is used in commercial properties like hotels and schools.
How many Gallons would this heat? I have a kidney shaped pool 33' X 17' 4 foot shallow and 8 foot deep
Hi, This unit can effectively heat a pool with a surface area of 450-550 square feet. This unit can be used to heat your pool, you can go with the UltraTemp 140 if you want to heat the pool faster.
We are having a 7590 gal pool put in what size of Pentair work for heating and cooling?
Hello Glenn, if you are looking for a Heat/Cool unit you would need to go with Pentair Heat Pump UltraTemp 125,000 BTU Heat / Cool model number 460935.
Is this the proper size for an in-ground pool 16x24 feet with a surface area of 704? Also, is there a way to determine the decibel rating for the Pentair HPs?
Hi, Gene. I would best recommend the Pentair Heat Pump UltraTemp 140,000 BTU (Almond) PART# 460934, click here to view. The Pentair Heat Pump 125,000 BTU UltraTemp 120 would heat the pool. I personally feel the 460934 will be a better fit and heat more efficiently for your size pool (Approx. 32,000gal. /704sq' with 6'avergae depth). With any heater or heat pump, I recommend the use of a solar blanket or liquid solar blanket to help retain the heat produced. As you are shopping around for heat pumps you may like to view the Hayward Heat Pro Heat Pump 140,000 BTU PART# HP21404T, click here to view. Keep in mind the heating times will vary depending on environmental conditions.
So the 120 would be worth the extra money and if you installed it yourself is the warranty still good as long as i do it by code
Hello. The heat pump needs to be installed by a licensed contractor otherwise the warranty would be voided. We do not recommend any homeowner install the unit by themselves.
Looking at the 110 or 125 i have a 7500 gal pool in in lower west fl 110 was recommended would the 125 heat faster and higher temp
Hi Andrew, The UltraTemp 110 (460932) would be sufficient for you size pool, however the UltraTemp 120 (460933) would heat your pool faster but not at a higher temperature. These unit will not heat above 108°.
What size wire do I have to run for this pool pump?
The wire size require for the 125,000 BTU Penatir Heat Pump is 8. Please click HERE for a more complete listing of its technical requirements. ( The wire size is listed on page 4 )
WHAT IS THE CORRECT SIZE AND MODEL NUMBER OF A REPLACEMENT CAPACITOR ?
Hi Don, The UltraTemp 120 Heat Pump uses the 7.5/80 Mfd 440V Capacitor (473731).
Do you sell Heat Pump Covers to protect the unit when it is not in use?
Hi Steve, We do carry the Pool Heat Pump Cover - One Size Fits All (OSCS-HC) which can be used on the Pentair UltraTemp Heat Pumps.
The information says free shipping. I was told the unit weighs 270 lbs. Does the truck have a back lift or some other alternative to get the unit on the ground?
When setting up the order, we do have an option to select a lift-gate on the truck.
Does the Ultra Temp 120 work well in Salt refreshed pools?
Steve,The Ultra Temp 120 should work well in salt pools. The titanium exchanger allows it to be less corrosive.
I live in NW Missouri and have a 24X40 in ground pool. Is this size adequate or do I need a larger unit?
Hello Neal this unit would be a good size for your pool. I would stay with 125 to 140 BTUS. Also it will be best to keep a solar blanket it to maintain the temperature that is in pool.
Does this model cool as well? I have about 15,000 gallons at 96 degrees!
Hello KJ. this model does not have the Heat/Cool Feature 460935 will have it. Pentair Heat Pump UltraTemp 125,000 BTU Heat / Cool
What is the $/kWh for this product?
Hi Peggy, This heat pump uses roughly 5-1/2 kilowatts per hour. You would need to check the cost per kilowatt hour for your state as this pricing varies widely throughout the United States. Here is the most update Kilowatt Pricing By State which will let you know how much electricity costs in your area.
My pool holds approximately 27,000 gallons. It is rectangular size 36 x18. We like to swim from June to September, live in the Northeast, like 82 to 84 degrees. Is this the right pool heater size for us?
Neal - Raypak has this useful heat pump calculator that you can play with to show you what factors go into your selection process. http://roxwebdev01.pixelgate.net/gas_sizing/Raypak.php?appid=1. It's set up for the parameters you provided plus a couple I guessed at like Boston and wind speed. When you select a comparable unit at the top, Raypak's 8350 is 133K BTU; 6350 is 117K; 5350 is 95K. The calculator is set up for 117K which meets your needs based on my assumptions. Adjust the factors to your actual conditions if I assumed wrong. Note, if you put a solar blanket over your pool each night, you can use a smaller unit. Try switching "solar blanket" to "Solar blanket at night" and click "Recalculate" to see the impact.Once you determine what BTUs you need, you can apply that to any brand heat pump.
It says free shippong but then calculates $200 plus/minus shipping. Is that correct for this Pentiar 120 ultratemp?
The Pentair Heat Pump 125,000 BTU UltraTemp 120 currently has free shipping with the 48 continental US states
The surface area of our pool is 707 sq. ft. 30’ diameter, 52” deep and holds around 24000 gallons. We like to use our pool from May through September, using a solar cover the best temp we can get is 80 degrees F and that’s only during July and August other than that it stays in the mid 70’s. We would like to have our pool temperature 88 to 90 degrees; we are looking at the Pentair Heat Pump 125,000 BTU UltraTemp 120 would that be the correct size for heating and maintaining 88 to 90 degrees?
Hi Jim, Based on the fact that you would like to maintain a higher temperature like 88 - 90 degrees then I would suggest the Hayward 140,000 BTU Heat Pump here.
Is this heater ok for above ground pools 13000gal of water
Yes this heat pump would be suitable for a 13,000 gallon above ground pool.
Can this be used with a salt water system? Was looking trough what I think is the user manual and it says something about for use in freshwater pools. Please let me know.
Hi Jen, This heat pump can be used on a salt water pool just as long as you don't exceed 5,000 PPM of salt. Normal pool salt systems operate at 3,000 PPM of salt. The owner's is talking more about ocean water which is at a much higher salt concentration at nearly 50,000 PPM of salt.
How is the turnover/flow rate managed and communicated to pump? If same manufacturer make both are there other components needed to function?
There is no communication between the pump and the heat pump regarding flow unless you go with an Automated Pool Control System. If you do not go with a control system then the following would apply which is taken from UltraTemp Owner's Manual... "The inlet/outlet header of the heat pump comes equipped with an internal automatic flow control valve. The automatic flow control valve maintains the proper flow through the heat pump at rates up to 100 gpm (380 lpm). If the filter system flow rate is higher than 100 gpm (380 lpm), install a manual bypass valve. NOTE: Be advised that if your circulation pump is over 2 HP or if the total flow exceeds 100 gpm (380 lpm), you will have to add an external bypass valve. Excess water flow will damage the heat exchanger."
Price seem too good to be true. To be clear this is a new heat pump not reconditioned correct?
Yes this unit is Brand New in box and full manufacture warranty
My pool is 25.000 gallon capacity, can this heat pump heat my pool or do I need one of 140.000 btu?
You have a great price on this pump, especially with the rebate and free shipping - I'm a little concerned about the warranty though… how would that work through you, versus going with the local pool store?
Bryan, the warranty will go through Pentair. You will have full warranty once you can show that it was installed by a licences and insured HVAC professional/Company.
Hello, I live in Central Illinois and have a 16'X32" in ground pool with a flat bottom depth on line of 54", would this be a correct size for my size pool?
The 125K BTU unit would be the correct size for your pool.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERANCE BETWEEN THE BLACK & GRAY MODEL
Hello Terry - The only difference is the color.
My pool is a 12,000 gallon , 590 Sq ft surface pool located in north Phoenix AZ. I am starting to look at heat pumps to keep the pool at 80 plus degrees for 5 months out of the year when day time temps average 70 degrees with night time lows in the 50's. I do have a great solar system that generates my electricity. I would like to know what size heat pump I would need.
Based on your location and pool size, the 125K BTU UltraTemp would be the correct unit.
What does this unit weigh?
Hello Janice - The Pentair model 460933 weighs 270 pounds.
Is this product is run on electricity and what is the voltage
Hello - This does run on electricity and the voltage is 230.
What are the physical dimensions of this heat pump? Also, what is the manufactures warranty and do you offer an extended warranty?
The Pentair UltraTemp 125,000 BTU unit measures 30.7" Wide X 38.9" Deep X 45.5" Tall. The warranty is as follows on this unit 10-year compressor parts and labor warranty and lifetime warranty on the titanium heat exchanger.
(5 out of 5 stars) Pentair Heat Pump

Pros: Easy install with no problems.
I was able to install easily myself. It is quiet and I like the non-metal case. It seems to heat my pool just as fast as the Gas model I removed even though it is supposed to be slower. I have 21x41 pool and it went from 70 degrees to 88 degrees in 18 hours. Now that it is up to temp it maintains the temp easily and is off all night (10pm to 9 am)and needs to run only a few hours each day. I have the 125k model and replaced a 265k gas model.

Pros: Efficient, quite, effective
I was a little hesitant with the purchase of a heat pump versus a gas heater, but I am so glad I purchased this product. 24' round pool went from 60 to 82 in 10 hours (and it was only 75 outside). INYO Pools was also fantastic, great service and fast delivery!

Excellent heat pump and it does exactly what it should do . . . HEAT THE POOL ! Very simple operation and control panel. Our pool is 36' x 18' (5' deep) and it heats it and hold temperaturn very easily. The unit is much questr than our previous Jandy brand heat pump. And Inyoppools.com is an outstanding company. Same day shipment, arrived as promised 2 days later, and well packaged.

Pros: Quiet, simple to use and install, fast heating
Cons: rather large in size
i have been searching online and in the local pool stores for a new heat pump to replace the broken gas heater on the house I just bought. The price point for the BTU rating on this unit was unbeatable. INYO Pools was the best website for information and price. Shipping was lightning fast and communication throughout the order was top notch. The unit itself was installed by myself. Everything was straight forward and easy to follow. The unit fired right up and brought my spa from 78 to 98 in 45min on an 80degree sunny day on March 3rd!! Would definitely recommend and purchase the same unit from the same people at INYO Pool.

Cons: big unit
I live in central WI, and have an in ground pool with 22,000gl of water. This heater has worked out great for us and we are very happy. We keep the temp around 86 for the pool and this unit does a good job of doing that. It does what it says can do about 1 degree an hour. It works best when it is a hot day and outside air temp is higher than the wanted pool temp.
