How can I tell what model filter I have, it looks like a TR 50

A     Answered on 5/29/2016 by Alex V.

Dale, There should be a label on the filter tank with a model number marked off.

I have a Hayward S-200 sand filter with Hayward side mount valve. Would this filter be a good replacement filter? I plan on reusing the Haywood side valve because it is just a couple of years old. Will it mate up with this tank?

A     Answered on 2/8/2016 by Lennox H.

Hi Rick, This Triton II TR50 Sand Filter (140249) will be a good replacement, however the valve will not work with this filter. You will have to use a valve that is specifically for this filter.

When should I change the sand in my filter?

A     Answered on 1/27/2012 by Patrick P.

You should change the sand in your filter every 5-7 years. You can generally tell that it is time if your pool water is not as clear as it normally is or when you notice the interval between backwashes is shorter. You can use > this guide to walk you through it.

How many pounds of sand does this filter require?

If you are using all sand, it takes 225 lb.  You can also use a mix of 50 lb pea gravel and 175 lb sand.
