Product Description

Who ever thought doing something good for the environment would also save you money? It's true! A Raypak heat pump is built with the latest eco-friendly R410A refrigerant that operates more efficiently than R-22. But the most amazing aspect of a heat pump pool heater is its operating efficiency compared to gas heaters. A heat pump operates at 5 to 6 times the efficiency of a standard gas, oil or electric pool heater. If you live in an area where your natural or propane gas costs have out-paced your electricity costs, the savings can be big. The chart illustrates just how much money can save using average energy cost data COP 5.6/5.3.  016033 R8450ti-E 140 BTU is the new replacement for the R8350TI-E.

  • Exclusive DuraSteel™ Powder-Coated Cabinet
Polyester powder-coated, non-corrosive cabinet is more durable than plastic heat pump cabinets. Same rugged steel construction used by all the major air conditioner manufacturers

Evaporator Coil

  • Large Air Coils
Raised lanced-fin design maximizes heating at lower temperatures. Raypak engineered coils are highly optimized to meet our specific design requirements. From the proper fins per inch to advanced distribution circuiting. We are the only heat pump pool heater company to actually manufacture our own coils.
  • Venturi Fan Cowling
High-capacity 3000-cfm fan provides unrestricted air flow for better heating. Precision engineered and manufactured
cabinet design eliminates unwanted air gaps. This means more air over the coil which translates to greater efficiency

  • Scroll Compressor
Scroll compressors are quiet and efficient compared to piston type compressors. They provide higher efficiency, lower sound levels, superior durability and unsurpassed reliability. The unique design of a scroll compressor actually wears in over time, not out!
  • Sound Isolation Pads
Prevents sound transfer to equipment pad and elevates the base pan to improve water drainage. Its the little details like this that make Rheem products stand out from the

Heat Exchanger

  • Spiral Titanium Tube
Our spiral titanium tube heat exchanger provides a corrosion-free waterway that can withstand the abuses of harsh pool chemistry. The spiral tube helps reduce deposit build-up and increases efficiency by performing a “scoopand- lift" action.
  • Internal Bypass Valving
Automatically compensates for normal day-to-day changes in your pool's hydraulics, maximizing heat transfer efficiency.
  • Plumbing Connections
Off-set 2" PVC union connections are included for ease of installation

Controls - Analog

  • Dual Thermostats
Allows separate pool and spa temperature settings.
  • Exclusive Direct-Set Thermostat
Our direct-set thermostat is easy to use; the temperature settings are right on the dial. This eliminates the guess work involved compared with some dials that use a gradient or blue-to-red “swoosh".
  • Remote/Local Switch
Compatible with the latest automated pool control systems. Exclusive remote/local switch ends the conflict between outside control systems and the heat pump control system. Great for troubleshooting.
  • Diagnostic Lights
Six LED diagnostic lights keep you informed about the heat pump pool heater operation. Power on, water flow, heat demand, compressor delay, defrost active, low refrigerant pressure.

Controls - Digital

  • Pool/Spa Control
Your digital heat pump pool heater can be set to have a different target temperature for your pool and spa. This allows you to dial in just the right spa temperature and never have to adjust it again. The pool can be set to a lower, more energy saving temperature.
  • Remote Compatible
The digital heat pump pool heater can be easily controlled by most two-wire and three-wire remote systems.
  • On Board Diagnostics
Tells the homeowner if there is a problem. Provides the service technician with detailed diagnostic information.

When does the warranty period begin for the RayPak heat pumps? Date of purchase? Manufacture date? Thanks!

A     Answered on 9/11/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, John. The warranty period begins on the date of installation or date of purchase.

?     Asked on 9/7/2017 by Johnny

One more question, can I install this heat pump, the pool pump and a salt water generator on a 60 AMP (240 volt) line?

A     Answered on 9/13/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Johnny, You will need a dedicated 50 amp breaker for the heat pump, and most likely you can wire the pump and salt system on to the same breaker and that would be a 30 amp breaker.

I have a 40,000 gallon pool. Can this heat pump heat it up to about ~80 degrees?

A     Answered on 9/13/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Johnny, As long as you are in a somewhat of a mild location temperature wise than this heat pump would be able to maintain this temperature from May - September.

?     Asked on 6/2/2017 by Bob S

In the description section it says "minimum ampacity" of 42, recommended 60. What does that minimum refer to? I have a 50 amp line now.

A     Answered on 6/8/2017 by Product Owner

Minimum ampacity is 42 Amps, next breaker size is 50 Amps, thats how l wired mine also w #6 Wire! And GFi Breaker. All works perfect!

Hi. This unit can heat a 30K gallon pool. I would recommend using a solar cover to retain as much heat as possible.

I received your distances, how can I help you?

My pool is 36,000 gallons and I currently have a 400,000 BTU Raypak propane heater. I can check the dimensions and see if this Heat Pump is sufficient for the pool. You mentioned that this only heats the water when the pool pump is on (which makes sense). I have a variable speed pool pump, does my pool pump have to be running at max speed...3450, to run this heat pump? Under normal use, I run the pool pump at 2650, would this heat pump operate at that setting?

A     Answered on 5/4/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Scott W.

Do you have the distance from your pump to your skimmers so I can calculate the flow rate to see if that flow rate will be adequate for that heat pump?

Hi I have a Raypak RP 2100 gas heater which I want to replace with Raypak Standard 133K BTU Digital Heat Pump. My question is the replacement be good enough size. Can I use the same electrical wiring as the RP2100 and How much space do I need for the heat pump, the space available is 4x4 would that be enough space.

A     Answered on 3/24/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, This is the largest heat pump Raypak has. It's large enough fo heat most residential pools but to be sure we'll need the surface area of your pool. This unit requires a dedicated 60 amp 230 volt breaker so the electrical would haveto be upgraded. The unit can be placed on a 4'x4' pad but installation requirements can be found on page 7 & 8 of the Raypak Heat Pump Owner & Installation Manual.

What is a heat pump for a pool, and what do you need to install it? A gas line would be a to long of a lay What about a propane pump, or a electric heater? Need help, it is for my daughter and three grand kids . THANKS

A     Answered on 3/2/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Scott W.

I would recommend a heat pump. It is electric and is going to be the most cost efficient. Heat pump will initially take a day or two to heat up but once it is heated the heat pump regulates the temperature that you have it set at and will only turn on when it drops below that temperature and only when the pool pump is circulating. I can help you select the correct size, I just need to know how many gallons the pool is, the distance from the pool pump to the skimmers, and what state you are located in.

What is the warranty on the R8350 Ti-E & the R 8350 Ti-E-HC? There seems to be a 20 to 25% difference in price. What am I getting for the premium??

A     Answered on 1/16/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

Hello Dave- The warranty information can be found by clicking here. In short it is 2 years parts and labor, 7 years on parts, and the titanium component of the heat exchanger is warrantied for 10 years (if installed by a professional pool installer). The price difference for the R8350Ti-E-HC is because that is a Heat and Cool model, not just a heat pump like the R8350TI-E.

Is this heat pump compatable with the Pentair Easy Touch control panel. I would like to be able to use remote from the house to control heating of pool. It looks like a great unit at a good price, but I am worried about it being integrated into the system. The Pentair 140 model looks great as well and could be integrated seamlessly, but it comes at a heftier price tag. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Max- The Raypak Standard 133K BTU Digital Heat Pump - 013331 R8350TI-E is compatible with the Pentair easy touch as along as you have a communication cable.

We have a 135,000 gal community pool with (2) Raypak Model C-R406A-EN-X ASME natural gas heaters. If it is time to replace them, could we use (2) heat pump heaters and if yes, which model would you recommend? We keep the pool at 82 degrees. It's located in Lafayette CA where the avg daily temp during the coldest swimming month is 62 and the warmest is 72 degrees. A solar cover is not feasible. Your advice is most welcome.

A     Answered on 9/29/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Scott W.

I would stick with the heaters. You would literally have to run those heat pumps non-stop for a pool that size. For a pool that size you would need 3-4 heat pumps to maintain that temperature. I would stay with the two heaters or go with one heater that will be able to handle the whole pool. That would be the Power Max, model number PM0750NACC2PXN or PM1000NACC2PXN. Either of these models will be the most efficient way to heat that size of pool.

I personally would go with the RayPak and that would be the biggest one for RayPak. For a 50,000 gallon pool I'd recommend pairing it up with a solar blanket.

will the delivery person place this unit at its final location? it's about 100 feet from the driveway

A     Answered on 5/13/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Alan M.

Hello Chris, The delivery service will deliver the heat pump to the curbside. You would need to arrange with the delivery service to have the Heat Pump moved to the final location when scheduling the delivery. They may charge an additional fee for transporting the heat pump and payment would be arranged through that specific carrier, not related with InyoPools.

Hi, The RS8350ti-E-QT operates at a dB of 59, the dB rating is not listed for the RS8350ti-E but it will be higher than 59.

Under the "Warrenty Exclusions" section what does the statement "This limited Warrenty does NOT apply" Is there a Warrenty if so what is it?

A     Answered on 3/18/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

Bob- Where it says "Warranty Exclusions" and then goes on to say "This Limited Warranty Does NOT Apply" it then goes on and lists reasons that would void the warranty or are not covered under warranty. The warranty on this heat pump, per Raypak, is as follow: If the Heater is installed in a single-family residential dwelling, the Applicable Warranty Periods are: two (2) years for labor and seven (7) years for parts, with no labor coverage in the third through seventh years. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the titanium tube component of the titanium heat exchanger is warranted for 10 years from the Effective Date, with no labor coverage in the third through tenth years. If the Heater is installed anywhere other than a single-family residential dwelling, the Applicable Warranty Period for the Heater and its parts is limited to only one (1) year, parts and labor.

What is the difference between Raypack M8350ti-E-HC and M8350ti-E .

A     Answered on 2/29/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

Val, The difference between the R8350TI-E-HC Raypak Standard 133K BTU Digital Heat Pump W/ Chiller and the R8350TI-E Raypak Standard 133K BTU Digital Heat Pump is that the R8350TI-E-HC has a chiller so it can cool the pool in the warmer months whereas the R8350TI is just a heater.

Hi, does this model have a reversing valve for power defrost? Thanks

A     Answered on 2/10/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Megan C.

Hello, Will. The Raypack R8350TI-E does not have a reversing valve for power defrost. If offers Power Frost that Allows the heat pump to operate in colder weather by keeping the heat exchanger tubes from developing frost.  When the air temp drops below about 45F, the unit will shut down because there isn't enough heat in the air to allow for productive operation. Raypak does offer model PS9350ti with Rapid Defrost. Areas that are subject to lower ambient temperatures have a tendency to cause ice to build up on a heat pump's condensing coil. The Professional heat pump uses a patented refrigerant management system to rapidly defrost the heater. (The PS9350ti) currently is a Special Order item.

Unfortunately, there is no way to " Add-on " the chiller aspect to this heat pump. They are either heat pumps OR heat / cool pumps.
