How often do i have to change the sand in the s8s70 pool filter

A     Answered on 6/21/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Alan M.

You should change the sand in your filter every 5-7 years. You can generally tell that it is time if your pool water is not as clear as it normally is or when you notice the interval between backwashes is shorter. You can use > this guide to walk you through it.

what size sand filter is best for a 30x30 free form average depth 4&1/2 ft

A     Answered on 12/7/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi William, Your filter is sized based on the actual GPM of your pump on your pool. To calculate the GPM of your pump you will need to calculate the TFH (Total Feet of Head) and use the performance chart of your pump to find of the GPM. You can view our How To: Size a Pool Pump guide to instructions.

What does backwash mean

A     Answered on 6/3/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Joe S.

After a period of time, the contaminates in a sand filter start to clog the sand to the point where water flow is significantly diminished and the pressure gauge rises 8 to 10 psi above normal operation readings. To clean out the contaminates, you have to backwash the sand. This guide shows you the steps in backwashing a filter.
