The Dolphin Diagnostic Advantage
The Dolphin Pool Cleaner is the world's first and best selling robotic pool cleaner. And after 25 years of scrubbing pools clean, it still leads the industry with its advanced electronics, rugged construction, superior cleaning performance, and unequalled service record. The Dolphin pool cleaner scrubs and vacuums the pool floor, walls and waterline and microfilters the pool water - it's like adding another filter to your pool! The Dolphin's reusable filter bag is designed with the optimum porosity to catch the smallest debris yet avoid clogging. It operates with it's own pump and filter system which avoids the wear and tear on your pool pump and filter caused by water-powered cleaners. In fact, the Dolphin Diagnostic Pool Cleaner saves you up to 50% on electricity and backwashing costs and up to 30% on chemical costs! The Dolphin's water-cooled motors (no oil to leak) are guaranteed for 24 months. Its extra long 50 ft. self-floating cord is attached to a weatherproof 24 volt transformer which is ETL listed for outdoor use. No installation is required – just plug it in. It even has a built-in 6 hour auto shutoff and advanced, self-diagnostic software.
The Dolphin Pool Cleaner Climbs up your Pool Walls
Note: The Dolphin Pool Cleaner was formerly known as the Dolphin 2001 Diagnostic Cleaner and is currently referred to as the Dolphin Diagnostic Advantage, DL2019. While some of our suppliers' inventory still includes the Dolphin 2001 labeling, please understand that it is the exact same cleaner as the current DL2019. There is NO difference in the Dolphin Pool Cleaner product features or performance.

The yellow track keeps coming off one of the wheels, is there a solution for that? Also, whats a current model that is similar to this model but new?
Reply
Hi, Ricardo. First, inspect the tracks, pulley gears and guide wheel for wearing. If they're bad then you'll need to replace them. See our selection of Robotic Pool Cleaners for replacement options.

I am changing tho plug on the cleaner that goes to the power supply.. What pins are used?

Chuck, If you purchased the DIY version of the cord, you can use this how to guide for reference.

I bought this from a pool store that said this could be used on above ground pool. I have not had any problems. Are there danger to my liner for using this vacuum?
Reply
Hi, Rose. This cleaner is not meant to be used in above ground pools. It will try to climb the walls and will require a special brush for a vinyl liner.
Reply
Why doesn't my dolphin. diagnostic cleaner climb the walls anymore it tries but can't get up. Can I use disposable bags instead of the cloth bags.. Thank you It is not the advantage
Reply
Hi, Joann. The unit does not have enough suction to make it up the wall. That can be caused by a dirty bag or clogged impeller. You can use the Disposable Bag - 9991440-ASSY.

I would need new Rubber Brushes (the two magenta looking role brushes). Where could I get them?
Reply
Hello Tina, Pvc Brush, Diag, Magenta, SINGLE (6101604) is what I think you are looking for. This part goes to Maytronics Dolphin Advantage Parts.

I out the cleaner in the pool and it runs for a few months then stop. What can be wrong ?
Reply
Hi Danny, The unit's motor, cord or power supply could be bad. I would recommend contacting Maytronics at 1-888-365-7446 to troubleshoot your unit.

The last time we used our Dolphin Diagnostic Advantage cleaner, the cord became caught in the wheels. The robot now does not move at all. Have we burned out the motor. Can the motor be replaced or repaired.
Reply
Hi Christopher, You will have to contact Maytronics at 1.888.365.7446 to see about a replacement motor.
Reply
if this is no longer available, which model is most similar? I have one but it is getting old so I need a new one.
Reply
Hi Lucy, I would suggest the Dolphin Dynamic W/ Remote or the AquaBot Pro Cleaner as the two most similar cleaners to the Dolphin Diagnostic Advantage.
Reply
I need a part for my Dolphin pool cleaner but I don't see it on the parts breakdown. Is there still a chance you may still have it?
Reply
The manufacturer which is Maytronics, does not offer all parts for sale. If you don't see a part on the breakdown you can give us a call. For parts that they do not consider "DIY (do it yourself), you will need to contact them and send in the cleaner for repair.

Will the Dolphin caddy fit all of the Dolphin machines?
Reply
According to the manufacturer, the same caddy is used for all of the Dolphin cleaners purchased over the internet. The only exception might be some of the commercial models that come with their own caddy.
Reply
Please explain the difference between the standard dolphin replacement filter bags, disposable filter bags, how often to replace, can you just pull out and wash? Also I noticed you sell replacement scrubber brushes, how do these need to be replaced? Is this machine hard on a vinyl liner?
Reply
The standard dolphin replacement filter bags are designed to handle finer debris like sand and silt and these bags typically lasts 3 years. The standard bags can be washed in a washing machine using no detergent. The disposable filter bags are designed to handle larger debris like leaves and twigs and are recommended when opening the pool in the spring or closing the pool in the fall. The disposable bags last 2-3 cleanings and may be purchased through this link http://www.inyopools.com/Products/00100001004983.htm The Dolphin robot pool cleaners are designed to work on vinyl liner, gunite or fiberglass pools and the scrubber brushes typically last 3-5 years. The manufacture recommends cleaning the scrubber brush periodically with a mild dish detergent to prolong the life of the brush.

Is it safe to swim while this unit is in use?
Reply
You cannot swim nor run the pump/filter while this unit is in use. The reason behind this is that the slightest wave or hit could knock the unit off of the wall while it's climbing. The unit can sit in the pool while turned off, and waves won't bother it, but it cannot be used while the pool is occupied or the pump/filter are running.

I was wanting to buy a Dolphin Diagnostic Robotic Cleaner. Some I have been looking have a 65 foot cord and other only a 50 foot cord. I need the longer one (65) but I only saw you had a 50 foot one. Can you help me or do you only sell on with the 50 foot cord length? Thanks
Reply
About 2 years ago Smart Pool made changes to this pool cleaner, one of the changes they made was reducing the cord length from 65' down to 50' We only have the new models available with the 50' cord. If you can get by with a 55' cord we would recommend the Tiger Shark pool cleaner which you may view or purchase through this link http://www.inyopools.com/Products/00100001005585.htm The nice thing about the Tiger Shark is that it uses cartridges instead of a bag. All you need to do is remove the cartridges from the bottom of the machine, then rinse and clean with a garden hose!

Does this unit come with the remote control or if not, will it work with a remote?
Reply
The Dolphin Diagnostic does not come with a remote. According to the manufacturer, the DL2019 model cannot be used with a remote control. The Dolphin Dynamic (2002) comes with a remote and caddy. This can be seen on our web site at: http://www.inyopools.com/Products/05600005003539.htm

Our pool is a group of three overlapping or intersecting rectangles. There are inside corners with 90 degree turns as well as outside corners with 270 degree turns. Will the Dolphin Diagnostic, NE250 navigate the outside 270 degree turns?
Reply
The swimming pool does not have to be rectangular or round. It can be any shape and the Dolphin will navigate around the swimming pool. It may favor some parts of your pool, but should clean around the entire swimming pool.

I've had a Polaris cleaner for 15 years and need to replace it. How does it compare to the NE250? Can I use the same booster motor?
Reply
The NE250 is a robotic cleaner. It's a little different than the Polaris, but is one of the more popular cleaners on the market. It does not require a booster pump, but rather sucks everything into its own internal filter bag. The bag needs to be emptied periodically, similar to a household vacuum. The Dolphin cleaner will also climb up the sides of your pool unlike the Polaris pressure pool cleaner. We recommend the Dolphin over the older Polaris models.
Reply
Does the NE250 work with aboveground pools?
Reply
No, it does not. For aboveground pools, we recommend the Robo-kleen aboveground pool cleaner. To view it click on this link: http://www.inyopools.com/Products/05600005003154.htm
Reply
Does the unit come with the caddy and the PVC brush for in-ground plaster/masonite/concrete pools?
Reply
The NE250 (DL2019) does include the brush. The caddy is sold separately and can be seen on our web site at Dolphin Caddy

(4 out of 5 stars) Dolphin Diagnostic Advantage Pool Cleaner
Reviewed By: qwerty from Mesa Az ()
Pros: effective; easy to use and maintain
Cons: none yet
I had read other reviews of this product prior to purchaseing it. I looked for the flaws that other reviews had mentioned, most noteably staying in the deep end of the pool and not climbing steps. The Dolphin did seem to spend more time in the deep end of the pool, however debries that were in the shallow end were not there at the end of the cleaning cycle. I brushed the pool after every cleaning and did not find any "missed spots". Our house is close to a large area of undevloped land and the amounts of fine windblown dirt settleing on the bottom of the pool has always been a problem. Being a cynic I did'nt expect this product to perform as well as advertisied. I don't impress easily but I was quite impressed by the amount of dirt captured by the filter bag and removed from the pool. Cleanup and maintanince are a breeze I just rince the filter bag off after use, throwing it in the washing machine every 4-6 uses and it comes out as if it were new. I would not hesitate to recomend this product to anybody. Although it didnt climb the steps well it did travel over the operating pop-up heads in the bottom fo the pool with no problen.

Pros: Easy to use - amazing results
Cons: lifetime?
It's my second Dolphin pool cleaner. I had the exact same model when I was in France and when I moved to the US it was a no brainer. It's super easy to use, the main trick being cleaning regularly the vaccuum bag (compared to the time you spend setting up a pump cleaner, it's really nothing). Just plug it in before going to bed and wake up with a clean pool, it that simple!
