Are these cleaners ok to use for first pool cleaning of the season? I wasn't sure if it is recommended if there may be algae or debris in the water. thanks

If there are layers of debris at the bottom of the pool, I'd manually vacuum it up before using the Dolphin. However, if it is a light covering of leaves and other small debris, the Dolphin can handle that. The leaf canister is not designed to catch algae. I'd recommend shocking the pool and killing the algae before using the Dolphin E30.

Does this model come with the two types of filters that you can swap out with one basket like the Proteus DX5?

The Dolphin E30 comes with one filter. They call it the leaf canister. The ultra-fine cartridge style filter would need to be ordered separately. The part number is 9991458-ASSY.

Is there a built-in timer or, can this cleaner be set up, on an external timer, to automatically come on every day?

The power supply has a built-in timer that can tell it to turn on once a week, three times a week, or four times a week.

I am interested in the Dolphin E20 and E30. My pool is 16x32, should I go with the E20 or would it be wise or a waste to buy the E30? I have had 3 Smart Pool Robots and was never happy with the debris that drained out when removing it from the pool! Also the waste removal is ridiculous compared to these Dolphins, which appear so simple, love it! Advice please?

Hi, In this case if your budget can handle it, we would suggest the Dolphin Maytronics Dolphin E30 cleaner over the E20 cleaner as the E30 is a better cleaner. The E30 is more powerful, does a better job with the tile line and has more timer options on the power supply. After searching google I realized that multiple other people have encountered the same issue. Some had returned it or sent it in for repair at significant cost and headache. To fix this issue yourself is quite easy. You open the top as if you're removing the basket then go ahead and remove the basket. There are then 2 screws on the motor cover that you remove and you slide the cover back over the wire. There are then another two screws on the 2nd piece under that. Remove those screws and the motor housing comes loose. There's nothing to actually fix. After loosening the motor, just put everything back exactly the way it was. I don't know why this works but it does. My dolphin then worked as advertised (cleans for about 2 hours). It's been 2 weeks, use it everyday and no further issues.
