can you use this for a small in groung pool

Hi Kathy, unfortunately, you cannot use this pool pump for an in-ground swimming pool. You will need to use an inground style pool pump. Here is a guide that we put together called "How to Size a Pool Pump for Your In-Ground Pool" that should help.

does this pump have a on and off switch? Also I have a 16 by 32 ft above ground pool. will this be enough power?

Hello, The pump does not have an on/off switch. The pump would be able to handle a 16' x 32' pool.
