Hi Sandy, Most laterals screw in but there are some that snap in. Normally if you have a broken lateral you will see sand going back to your pool. We put together a Video on How to Replace a Broken Lateral and a Video on How to Replace Your Pool Filter Sand you may find both of these helpful.

how do i remove the lateral line tube s from thr shaft? other brands just fold up but these do not. I have a Aquatopols Model AT 3123 sand filter

Al, The laterals have locking tabs at the end. To remove, simply give it a quarter turn and pull it out.
