Hi Michael, The "Red" and "Black" wires are you hot, the "White" is your low speed and the "Green" is the ground.

My pump is the northstar and actual motor number is SP 1620-Z-2-BC. Is this the correct replacement motor even though it indicates 1615Z2MNS? What is the difference?

A     Answered on 5/23/2016 by Lennox H.

Hi Jerry, This is the correct replacement for the SP1620-Z-2-BC.

Is this a drop-in replacement for a 56J, SF 1.20 2HP single speed motor?

A     Answered on 8/5/2015 by Lennox H.

Hi Joe, The 2 Hp 2 Speed Up Rated Motor (5112-064) has a 56Y Frame motor and is a 2 speed motor. The 2 HP 56J Full Rate Threaded Round Flange Motor (B130) would be a drop-in replacement.

What is Service Factor?

A     Answered on 1/11/2012 by Patrick P.

Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.
