Will this part screw into the gunite niche in an in ground pool to attach a pool light? My light keeps falling out even with stainless steel screws to hold it in place.

This locking screw with washer is the screw used to keep the face ring in place w/ the housing of the light. This screw was designed to fit into certain Pentair lights. I cannot say for  certain if this screw will fix your problem, even if the light you currently own is made by Pentair.

what side of the ring does the gum washer go on for the pilot screw

The Locking W/ Gum Washer Screw (79104800) is installed with the washer on the screw, so the washer will be on the outside of the Face Plate.

what do you do to replace the niche if the screw hole is broken

You will need to use a Light Wedge (132) to keep the new light fixture in place.

My stainless steel face ring is getting some light surface rust. Could the damaged gum washer be causing this. What is the gum washers purpose and is it really necessary to have one? Thanks

Hello, Yes the gum washer is used to set the face plate, you could be experiencing the screw rusting which does happen.

Is it safe to assume the washer goes between the face ring and the niche?

The pilot screw has nothing to screw into inside the niche. There is a hook at 12 o'clock and the screw is at 6 o'clock .

Hi, Gerry. Niches are designed where the pilot screw is at 12 o' clock and the hook is at 6 o' clock.
