Two-part shaft seal assembly used on Hayward Northstar pumps from 2003 - 2007.
This seal is included in the Northstar Tune Up Kit.

Which way does the spring part of the seal assembly go on the shaft? Does the rubber surface go against the ceramic on the other part or does it make a difference?

The spring portion of the seal slides over the hub of the impeller and the white ceramic portion slides into the seal plate which is the side which is closer to the motor.

I do have Hayward NorthStar SP4015X20NS, What's shaft seals or tuneup kit do i need, please be advice!
Hello Chau. According to your Northstar's model number, your Northstar was manufactured in June 2007. There are 2 available shaft seals depending upon the application, Standard, part Number 35-423-1088, or Heavy-Duty (for Saltwater Pools), part number 5250-250. There is no tune-up kit available for this model that would contain the shaft seal and o rings. Each additional item is available separately.
