I see this seal kit is compatible with SP-10-1N11MB, but is it also compatible with Waterway's waterway sd-10-1n11mb? Not sure what the difference would be between the SP and SD motors.
Thank you,
Sergei

Hi, Sergei. This PS-1000 - Pump Shaft Seal 5/8" is compatible with both model pumps. The difference between "SP" and "SD" is that SP is for Spa Pump and SD is for Side Discharge.

Hey Patrick thanks for the quick reply. New photos attached. Its leaking fairly steady, should I shut off the pump until I get seal replaced?
Kelly, Thank you very much those photos were really helpful. You will need this Whisperflo Shaft Seal Kit

Thanks again Patrick I ordered the part. Should I be limiting the pool pump run time on the meantime, or not running it at all?
Reply
Hi Kelly, Thanks for the order! The main risk you run is the leaking corroding the motor and causing it to seize. I think if you ran it a 2-3 hours a day while you wait for your seal kit then you should be fine.

What pump seal do I need? I just replaced it with PS-3865R but it's leaking at the shaft where it connects to the impeller. I don't think the pump seal is the right hight, maybe should be taller. I replaced the old motor with the new one pictured. Did I get the correct motor? Pump seal?
I have a Waterway above ground pool pump that is leaking water. Is this the correct shaft seal for a Waterway PS-10-2N11CB pump? Also, what o-rings will need to be replaced? Thank you.

I have a Polaris PB4 Booster Pump made in 2002 which worked fine up till yesterday. Now when I try to turn it on it does not rotate and simply emits a hum, suggesting power is applied but not turning on the motor. There is no evidence of leaks beneath the motor. Is it possible the shaft seal has seized and that is preventing rotation?
Reply
Hi, Bob. The shaft seal is not the issue, the capacitor or seized bearings could be the issue.

Hi, Bob. Both parts of this pump seal assembly should have been installed. The ceramic part is installed behind the impeller and the spring loaded seal in the seal plate.

I just finished replacing the shaft seal on my booster pump. As soon as I turned the pump on water was leaking from the shaft seal. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?
Reply
Depending on the model, the installation of a booster pump shaft seal can be slightly different than a pool pump shaft seal. Some booster pump and pool pump shaft seals require that a silicone sealant be used on the outer areas of the metal seat of the shaft seal. The seal will need to be lightly hammered into the body of the pump. You can use a 1 inch PVC coupling or a piece of 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe and a rubber mallet. This procedure will apply to any pool pump or booster pump using a >PS-1000 style shaft seal.

I ordered a new seal kit from INYO pools. When it arrived I used the video from You Tube on the INYO website to remove the cover, volute, and impeller. It was easy to replace the seals and reassemble the parts following the INYO video. New seals no longer leak.

Because my pump has been there 10 years I had to watch a YouTube video to assist me in getting the wet end of the pump off the motor shaft. I removed the long bolts from the back of the motor and used a rubber mallet to remove the motor back cover. Placing the pump in a vice I hit the motor shaft with a hammer and knocked it out. Then I could use simple hand tools to remove the impeller. I used pliers to remove old seal. Cleaned the housing and install the seals. Then I assembled the pump with the new motor.

after breaking a perfectly good impeller [ didn't have a good strap wrench], I found an electric motor repair shop in our little town and he knew the correct bearing no. for a 1 hp century motor. It was quite easy to install , push out the old [ note there is a screw retainer to remove first. then gently tap in the new bearing [was $8] . noise gone ! Note: when you reassemble the pump after replacing the impeller be carful not to over tighten the 2 little stainless steel screws or they will pull out of the plastic. - Pentair whisperflow pump-

The metal part of the pump seal will fit into the body of the pump from either direction, but it only works if installed in the right direction. Make sure you push it into the side of the pump seal that has a little indentation that matches the lip of the metal rim to the seal. Very easy to do it wrong.
