Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?

Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

Steve- For a salt water pool I highly recommend a Heavy Duty model with Cupro-Nickel. The only one they offer is Natrual Gas Max-E-Therm Heater 400000 BTU Heavy Duty w/ Cupro Nickel NG Ele. Ign. SR400HD.

I have Purex Triton Max Model 400 heater for my pool, I can not find such model and I have a problem, when I turn on the heater from my pad inside the house the heater comes on for a few seconds and turns off keeps coming on and off, what could be the problem? can you refer me to a site where I can get some info.

I had a power failure at the house, now my heater has no power. I use the easy touch control system, any suggestions.

I'd recommend checking continuity going to the Easytouch and to the heater. If you do not have it to the Easytouch then you need to have electrical checked(breaker ect.) If you do but not to the heater then you may need to check the main PCB board at the Easy touch or the heater for failure. Due to electrical, I'd also recommend having a contractor inspect.

I have a Pentair Mastertemp 400 propane heater that has failed. Is the Scratch And Dent MasterTemp Heater 400,000 BTU - LP w/ Electric Ignition Low NOx - 460737 an acceptable replacement? What are the main differences?
Hi, Karl. This MasterTemp Heater 400,000 BTU - LP w/ Electric Ignition Low NOx - 460737 is NOT an acceptable replacement because it is NOT ASME. ASME units are designed specifically for commercial use. This unit is recommended for residential use.
