Hello Rob, in theory, yes you could used it in a larger filter; but we suggest that you do not. The main concern is that the smaller cartridge has a lower flowrate than the 200 sq ft cartridge which may restrict water flow or damage the cartridge. Also, the cartridge is smaller you will need to cleaner the cartridge more often.

What is the reason for 15-20 micron in a pool application? Would 120 micron be detrimental? Currently using the CX1200RE

Hi, Patrick. The ability to filter the water in your pool keeping it cleaned. A 120 Micron can be detrimental if the pool is not effectively sanitized. A filter is one of the most important pieces of equipment needed for a healthy, clean pool.

I have a Hayward C1200E cartridge. I see replacement cartridges for C1200RE but not for C1200E. What is the replacement cartridge for the C1200E? What is the difference between the E and the RE?

My filter cartridge says it is a Hayward C1200e. All the replacements say they replace an "re" filter. Companies don't print different letters on filters for no reason, (as the kid at my local pool place suggests.) What is the difference between an "e" and an "re" cartridge filter?

Hi Rob, Does your current cartridge measure 23-3/8" in length, 4" inside hole diameter and 9" outside diameter? If so than this is the correct replacement cartridge. If not then could you send us a few photos of your filter? A close of the label on the filter tank, and a wide shot of the complete filter.

Hi Steve, Hayward who manufacturers this CX1200RE Cartridge is based in the USA however we are unsure if the factory which makes there cartridges is based in China, Mexico or the USA.

Our Hayward star clear plus filter Model#C12002 came with 28 in cartridge. Is this 23 in cartridge the correct replacement for it? We are confused because of the 5 in differences.

Hi Paula, If you do have the C12002 Hayward Filter then this will indeed be the proper replacement cartridge. This is what you will need.

Please disregard previous question. This is the correct cartridge for Filter model # C12002. Just looked smaller in box. 23 in is replacing 23in. Old ones are not 28 in. Thank you
