Sheila, The tank o-ring is used to create a watertight seal between the 2 filter halves. If you are replacing the entire filter body, you do not need to purchase the o-ring. If you are only replacing the elements inside, you will want to change the o-ring.

I'm looking for a tank o ring for my (older) Purex Triton CFM180 filter. It's a big one - like about 20 inches in diameter. It may be Pentair part number 071439, but I'm not sure. Do you have it?
