How can I test the flow switch to see if it is still working?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/31/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

With the pump off, you can unthread the flow switch from the tee and press the two metal tabs together. If the flow indicator on the control panel is off when then two pieces are pressed together and red when they are apart, the flow switch is working.

when installing, how is the switch oriented on the tee to make sure it is in the direction of flow

Hello Jim- When installing the flowswitch, the arrows should be pointing in the direction of the water flow. Here is a link to our How-To Guide on the installation of this flow switch: http://www.inyopools.com/HowToPage/how_to_replace_an_aqua_rite_flow_switch.aspx

I have an Aqua Rite salt water system. The system reads low salt therefore it will not generate. When I check the salt level with strips it is where it should be. What would cause the low salt reading?
 Reply

A  Answered on 3/9/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Dave. You will need to recalibrate the controller. Step by step instructions are outlined in our How To Recalibrate the Salt Level on a Hayward Aqua Rite. If that does not work then the cell may be the issue.

I think I have a bad folw switch.I have a Haywood Goldline Aqualogic control panel with a pool/spa salt system. 3 pumps: pool, spa, and backup. It uses a Haywood Turbo Cell,T-cell-5. Everything runs but the pool pump stopped yesterday and "no flow" is displayed in "diagnostics". Will the "no flow" status stop the pool pump from coming on? It doesn't hum like a siezed motor.

A  Answered on 8/2/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Tobin. The Goldline controller does not control the pump. If the main pump is not running, that would cause the No Flow indicator to illuminate. The motor will have to be replaced.

My dog pulled the wire loose from the Hayward Goldline Aqua Rite Salt Chlorine Generator panel (looks like male end of phone jack plug) end of the Hayward GLX-FLO-RP flow switch then chewed this end up. The pump still runs. It does have the red LED light indicating a problem. What does this switch actually control?
 Reply

A  Answered on 8/3/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Alex V.

Skip, The flow switch senses the amount of water flow on the return side. If the switch is damaged, the salt system will not be able to generate. If the "no flow" light is on, you will need to replace the flow switch.

Ijust installed a VGreen 165 VS motor and VLink. I get 'No Flow' on my AquaRite w/ T-15 cell when the pump is run at less than ~2000 RPM. What is the min flow rate required to close the contacts and trigger an affirmative flow reading? Is my switch functioning properly? Is there a more-sensitive flow switch that I can use to generate chlorine at lower RPMs? Good topic for Poolside Chat?
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/24/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Megan C.

The flow rate for the Aqua-Rite will operate as low as 11 gallons per minute. It is possible that the flow-switch needs to be replaced if it has many years of age to it. The control dial controls how many hours the cell generates chlorine, you will probably need to adjust according to the hours that you have the pump operating above 2000rpms and test the water until you find what works best with the new pump.

I am looking for a reed switch or similar flow switch that can be inserted into a 2" x 2" x ?" PVC tee ( ?= don't know the size of the switch). This switch will be inserted into the pool pipe coming out of the circulation pump before the sand filter as a back up flow switch to the one in the chemical controller sampler line. My state authority requires a redundant flow switch wired in series with the controller flow switch. Do you have a product recommendation?
 Reply

A  Answered on 3/13/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Jim. The flow switch can be installed into a 2" PVC Tee - GLX-FLO-T. The controller will need an RJ11 terminal in order to receive the signal and this flow switch requires a minimum of 15 gpm.

Is the GLX-FLO=RP the correct flow switch replacement for an Aqua Rite Salt System indicating "no flow." About three years ago I re-soldered the wires to my switch after our Lawn people weed-wacked the wire. It worked fine until a few months ago when it was hit again. My "new" repairs worked up until yesterday and I feel I need a new switch since I can no longer access the wires.

My Aqua Rite gen. doesn't appear to except the male phone style end. The wire enters the housing and is connected directly the the circuit board. Is there another flow sensor I should be looking for?
 Reply

A  Answered on 11/12/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Megan C.

Unfortunately, that style was discontinued for the flow detectors. The GLX-FLO-RP is the current. If you believe you have a different system than Aqua Rite, please attach an image of the control panel for further review. The automated system use the Sensor Thermistor 10k W/ 15' Leads, Goldline - GLX-PC-12-KIT along with the flow switch, the temp sensor is hard-wired.
