What is the best pool cleaner to use with a variable speed pump?

We would recommend the Zodiac MX6. The cleaner was specifically designed for the low flow of a variable speed pump.

Will this work for inground vinyl pools? In other words, will it damage the liner.

Notice for Vinyl Liner Pools: Before installing your pool cleaner, examine the interior of your pool carefully. If the vinyl liner is brittle or has stones, wrinkles, roots or metal corrosion in contact with the underside of the liner, or has damage to the base material or supporting walls, do not install the cleaner before having a qualified professional perform the necessary repairs or liner replacement. Like the zodiac mx6 cleaner but what makes it keep turning on it's side. Do we have to keep uprighting it ????
Reply
Hi, Rolf. The cleaner should stay in the upright position at all time. To troubleshoot this issue "Verify that the hose float is positioned correctly. The hose float should be on the hose closest to the cleaner approximately 9 inches from the cleaner." For other troubleshooting tips see page 10 of the Zodiac MX6 Owner's Manual.

when you adjust the flow, to get the mx6 be set at 10 rotations in 20-25 seconds, do you do it at low speed or high speed on a 2 speed pump. I have it set now at the recommended settings on the high speed, but it does not move at all when pump is at low speed. Any suggestions?

Hi, Brad. You will set it at whichever speed will be able to provide adequate water flow. The low speed setting is not sufficient to operate the cleaner. The cleaner will only run on high speed.

We have a pebble finish pool by Wet Edge, and the original cleaner was a Sand Shark by Pentair. The Sand Shark always got stuck on the main drain covers that stick up about an inch. Will this cleaner get stuck up against the drain covers too, or will it climb over because it has tread/tracks for drive power?
Reply
Hi Michael, the Zodiac MX6 should be significantly better at not getting caught on the drain covers than your Sand Shark was due to the tractor-like treads.
