Is the salt included with the salt chlorine generator?

No, salt is not included.  You would purchase the salt locally and the quantity will depend upon the number of gallons of water in your pool.  Use a salt that is at least 99.8% pure NaCl. The preferred salt is evaporated, granulated, food quality, and NON-iodized.  Avoid using salt with anti-caking agents like sodium ferrocyanide, also known as yellow YPS (prussiate of soda). These cause some discoloration of fittings and pool surface finishes. DO NOT use calcium chloride.

Is this OEM model a direct replacement for the Aqua Pure PLC 1400 Zodiac 3 Port Cell? Please identify if this is a swap out capable replacement for the Jandy Aqua Pure Zodiac PLC1400 14 blade 3 port cell. Thank you.

Does this model allow the slotted Jandy flow and temp transmitter to fit properly
 Reply

Yes this model does accommodate the Jandy slotted flow and temperature sensor. You will use your current flow sensor and this sensor is placed into the bottom port of the cell, you will then use the union from your current cell to secure the flow sensor to the bottom port of the new cell. The only difference between these and the original is that the power cord is integrated into this cell.

Can the three contacts that protrude from the original Aqua pure 1400 cell be replaced? If not is the cell recyclable? What is the material used to manufacture the fins?
 Reply

A  Answered on 3/21/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Alan M.

The three prongs are not a replaceable part for this cell. I do not believe that the cell is recyclable. you would need to contact the manufacturer directly at 1-800-822-7933 to answer the question on the material the metallic plates are made from.

My Jandy 3 port cell this will replace has a plug on the side. I see in the pictures this one does not have the plug. Are they available seperately?
 Reply

A  Answered on 3/29/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Most likely your Jandy cell has two cables coming out of it. One is called the Power cable and on the Jandy original this plugs into 3 prongs coming off of the salt cell. For the new aftermarket cell you will no longer use your Jandy cable as the aftermarket cell comes with a power supply cable that is integrated directly into the cell and will plug into your power supply. The second cable coming off of your Jandy cell is the flow sensor cable this will come out of the bottom port of the cell. When using this aftermarket cell you will unscrew your the flow sensor from your old Jandy cell and screw that sensor into the new cell.

We have a Jandy PLC700 that needs to be replaced, because our pool holds approximately 38,000 gallons. Will this generic be an easy swap out or an exact swap out?

Yes, the GRCJ40-3 will be a direct swap out of your original cell.

Does the aftermarket Jandy 3 Port Cell come with unions?
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/4/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

No the unions are not included, you would use the unions off of your old Jandy AquaPure salt cell and use those unions on the new cell as they are a perfect match. If for some reason you need new Unions then here are the Jandy AquaPure Replacement Unions.

Does this salt cell come with the flow sensor that comes out of the bottom of current Jandy cell?
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/4/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

No the flow sensor is not included. You will use the Jandy aqua pure flow sensor from your current Jandy salt cell, simply unscrew the flow sensor from the old cell, place the flow sensor in the bottom port of the new salt cell and secure with the union from your old cell.

Hi, Bill. The aftermarket cell wiring is as follows, the wire that is all alone is to be plugged into the green terminal (-) on the board and the paired wire to the black and white (+) terminal on the board.

Hi, Kevin. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not have or able to special order this cell with a longer cord.
