What is the difference between an inline and offline chlorinator?

An inline chlorinator would be plumbed directly inline with the plumbing.  For an existing pool, this would mean a section of pipe would need to be cut out to install the chlorinator.  An offline chlorinator attaches to existing plumbing by chlorinator tubing (holes would be drilled into existing pipe to attach the tubing.)

What chlorinator replaces the older chloinator the Aqua Smarte Cycler Model 6700, 2inch intake?

Ginny, The Hayward Inline CL2002S Chlorinator w/ 2 Inch Slip can take the place of your qua Smarte Cycler Model 6700. However you may need to do some plumbing.

Product info says can be connected to 1 1/2" plumbing. Does that really make any difference since it is supposed to be an off-line chlorinater? My plumbing is 2".

Yes it does make a difference as the clamps are for 1.5" plumbing.

I have a really hard time getting the top off of the 9 Lb Off Line Chemical Feeder - 165012. I do have the plastic wrench that is designed to get the top off but I still have issues. Any suggestions? Also, will you be running a sale any time soon on the Rayvac pool heaters?

Hello, Ted. It may be that the O-Ring 165911 needs to be replaced. I recommend opening the Drain Plug - 165914 before removing the lid, this will help relieve some pressure. Click here to view Ocean Blue Models 165010 & 165012 Parts Diagram.

Hi, Steve. Unfortunately, there is not a Lid Wrench for this chlorinator, but you can use a strap wrench to remove the lid.

The lid of the feeder is leaking. What do I have to do to stop it? And is there a rubber piece I need to buy?

Hello Muna, if it's leaking around the bottom you need a Chlorinator O-ring - 165911 if the leak is coming through the top where the nut is you would need Drain Plug - 165914.

There is a set screw at the base of the unit. With a directional arrow stamped above it. Is this a drain plug, or a flow set screw? Where does it need to be positioned? It doesn't mention anything about it in the manual.

Les, the directional arrow on the Pool Chlorinator Off Line 9 Lbs. - PL0002 is there to indicate what direction water should be flowing back into the pool so that you install the chlorinator properly. The screw part you are referring to is just a Drain Plug - 165914

If I have a 15,000 gallon inground pool would this chlorinator work? The pool currently does not have one.

Yes, this chlorinator will have more than enough capacity for your 15k gallon swimming pool.
