Hi, Debra. This PL1601 pump will NOT be a suitable replacement comparing the pump side-by-side. However, if the  Total Dynamic Head (TDH)  of your pool is within the range of this pump to provide the desired flow, you can use this pump.

Hi. Comparing these pumps side by side, this PL1601 performs slightly lower than your existing pump at the same Total Dynamic Head (TDH). The Prime 1.5 HP Pump - PL2602 will be a more suitable replacement.

For a closer flow output, you would need to go with the PureLine Prime Pool Pump 1.5 HP - PL2602 or the PureLine Prime Pool Pump 2 HP - PL2603.

Hi Dan, Thanks for the follow-up question and that is a great question. I was looking at matching you up with a pump which would have similar output to your current motor. Your current motor is a full rate motor which has a True HP (THP) similar to that of a 2 HP Up Rate Motor. Here some math which will explain this better. SQ1152 1.5 HP Full Rate - 1.5 HP x 1.47 Service Factor (SF) = 2.2 True HP. PL2603 2 HP Up Rate - 2 HP x 1.1 Service Factor (SF) = 2.2 True HP.

Yes, this pump will have about the same total horsepower however, you may need to adjust the plumbing arrangements as they may differ from your older model pump port locations.

Daniel, the PureLine 1.5 H.P In Ground Pool Pump will not be a direct replacement. The Reliant Model 72748 Pool Pump is a 2" ported pump, the PureLine 1.5 H.P In Ground Pool Pump is a 1.5" ported pump. They will move different amounts of water through your system every minute.

Hi, John. The Pump Shaft Seal is what will need to be replaced if the pump body if free from any cracks. That part is listed on the Pureline PL16 Series Pump Parts Diagram page.

Hi, Could you give us the information off of the motor for your current pump like HP, Amps, Volts, SF, Frame, Model #, etc.. Also could you give us the pump make and model information, common pump names would be Pentair Whisperflo, Pentair Challenger, Jandy Stealth, etc.. To supply this information click the reply link below, also if you could send a few photos those are always helpful as well. If you send photos then take a close up shot of the motor label as well as a wide shot of the complete pump to include the pipes going in and out of the pump. To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get any of this information we can make the proper recommendation.

Hi Justin, Based on the specifications of your motor, the PureLine Prime 1.5 HP Pump would be more comparable to power output and gallons per minute output to your current motor. We would suggest the PureLine Prime 1.5 HP Pump The plumbing ports on these new pumps are not in the exact same spot as your current pump so you will have a little re-plumbing. One last thing could you send us a wide shot showing the complete pump to include where the pipes go in and out of the pump, as this could give us a little more info. to see if the PL1601 can work for you. This pump will not have as much power output as the Hayward Super Pump 1.5 HP. We would suggest the PL2602 PureLine Prime 1.5 HP Pump as a drop-in replacement for the Hayward Super Pump. The only difference on the PureLine Prime and the Super Pump is the PureLine Prime has 2" Ports where the Hayward Super Pump has 1.5" ports, however, a simple 1.5" x 2" plumbing adapter will allow for 1.5" pipe.

A  Answered on 5/14/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Steve M.

Hugh, we do not have any information on the bxc1000 in order to get a relative cost on this for you. But, the noise is likely being caused by bad motor bearings. In this instance, we would usually suggest just replacing the motor, which in most cases range from about $130 - $200. But, at the price point that the PL1601 is at, it might be more cost effective to get the whole pump. We could better assist if we had more information on this pump. Please send a photo of your pump to upload@inyopools.com

If you are not sure if your pump is from before or after 1998 then we put together this Video on How to Determine if your Sta-Rite Dura Glas Pump is from Before or After 1998. Tommy if your current plumbing size is 1.5" then this pump will work well for you. If your pipe size is 2" then I would suggest the PureLine Prime PL2602 1.5 HP Pump as it the ports on that pump are 2" either way you will have a little bit of re-plumbing to do as the plumbing port locations are not in the exact same spot as your current pump.

Sounds good. I'll check the pipe size as soon as I get home and order. I see that the 2601 has 2" inlets and is a 1hp motor. Should I replace with a 1.5hp or will the 1hp be ok? Thanks

Thanks Tommy! If you go with the Pure Flow then I would suggest going up the 1.5 HP PL1601 and if you go with the PureLine Prime then the 1 HP PL2601 would be sufficient. The Pure Flow PL1601 1.5 HP would have a comparable output to your Sta-Rite pump where the PureLine PL2601 1 HP would also have a comparable output to your Sta-Rite.

The PL1601 would not be the pump we suggest as a replacement for a Jandy Variable Speed Pump. We would suggest the PureLine Prime PL2606 as a suitable replacement. If you are tieing your Variable Speed Pump into a Jandy AquaLink Automation system then you may want to stay with the Jandy pump as you will get all of the read out of the Jandy pump on the AquaLink, however if you are not using a Jandy AquaLink automation system then the PL2606 would be fine.

Hello, Iam considering this pump as a replacement for my sta-rite 1hp mod.: MPRA6E-147L, please advise if this will work, I assume the difference in horse power will move more water and require the pump work less? Regards
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/14/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Steve. Comparing the performance curves of both pumps, your model pump MPRA6E-147L will move slightly more water than this Pure Flow 1.5 HP pump. That's because of the design of the pumps. However, this Pure Flow pump will still be able to provide sufficient water flow to meet your pool needs at a lower upfront cost. Use our How To Measure Total Dynamic Head With Gauges guide to calculate the TDH of your pool and the Pure Flow Performance Curve to confirm.

A  Answered on 7/10/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Bill. To determine if this pump will be a suitable replacement, we will need to know the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool. You can use the following Inyo guides to help you calculate this number, How To Measure Total Dynamic Head With GaugesHow To Measure Total Dynamic Head With Gauges and How to Size a Pool Pump for Your In-Ground Pool. The decibel rating of pump is not listed in the specifications so I'm unable to confim if it is quieter than your Hayward.

Hi, Janet. It can, however, it will be based on the TDH of pool's circulation system and features. The Total Dynamic Head (TDH) is the is the measurement of resistance working against your pool pump as it pulls water from your basin and pushes it back to the pool. I currently have a Jacuzzi Magnum Force pump with an AO Smith Corp 1 hp motor (UST1102...model C48K2N143C1C) for my inground pool. There are multiple issues with the system (it is returning lots of air bubbles to the pool and the motor is ridiculously loud). The entire system is over 15 years old and I'm guessing it needs to be replaced. The diverter valve is also very old but I cannot tell if that is the source of the air leak. Any other suggestions besides new pump will be appreciated. thanks

A  Answered on 6/19/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Dennis R.

Hi Louie -  It sounds like you have a suction leak between the pool and the front end of your pump. Since you just replaced the pump, I would look at the connections you changed in replacing the pump. One way to isolate leaks is to temporarilly pack plumber's putty around the outside of each connection to seal off any air leak. Do this is sequence. When the pump basket fills completely, the last connection packed is your leak.

I found great support for reviews and products at www.inyopools.com! I found a comparable pump in gallons per hour (GPH) and horsepower (HP). I selected a 1.5HP and had it shipped! Once the pump arrived, I set up to get it installed. First step is to always secure power by turning off the circuit breakers. Then, I removed the old pump by cutting the supply and return lines to the pump and disconnecting the electrical wiring. Once the old pump was out of the way, I placed the new pump in place. With it properly located, I measure the PVC pipe I would need to connect the new pump, made the appropriate cuts and prepared to assemble the pieces, which included two unions and the 1 3/4" to 2" male adapter for the pump itself. Using PVC primer and glue, I applied the primer, then the glue, to each connection working towards the pump. Once the male adapters were attached to the pump using plumber's tape, I then connected them to the rest of the PVC pipe fully connecting them in less then 20 minutes. After the plumbing was completed, I connected the wiring using the provided instructions on the inyopools.com site, which was extremely helpful! Once all connections were complete, I reapplied power and verified there were no issues. Using a 5 gallon bucket, I filled it with water from the pool, opened the filter basket on the pump itself and used the bucket to fill up the pump. Once there was water in the pump, I turned the pump on and systematically added water with the filter basket open until the pump began circulating water on it's own. I closed the filter basket lid and the pump filled completely. I bled air out of the filter system and that finished up the project! No leaks, no issues, and a pretty easy install. Great supporting documents and how-to's were provided by www.inyopools.com and made the job even easier.
