Model # GLC2PA
The GL-235 is designed to meet the need for easy installation, dependable operation, and serviceability. The GL-235 incorporates unique, microprocesser based construction to ensure reliability and accurate performance. The GL-235 offers advanced operating features to provide differential temperature control, selectable high limit, programmable recirculation freeze protection, nocturnal cooling and optional booster pump control.
Automatic Heating If the collectors are warmer than the pool water by 4°or more, and the pool is below the selected desired temperature, the valve will rotate allowing heat collection. This heat collection will stop when the solar sensor falls to within 1.5°F of the pool temperature or the pool temperature exeeds the "desired temperature" set on dial.
Automatic Cooling (Field selectable option) If the collectors are cooler than the pool water by 6°F or more, and the pool is above the selected desired temperature, the valve will rotate allowing cooling via the solar collectors. The heat dissipation will stop when the collectors rise within 3°F of the pool temperature or the pool temperature is lowered below the set desired temperature.
Single Setting for desired temperature The GL-235 logic is set by a single dial adjustment with the desired pool/spa temperatures clearly indicated. The dial is calibrated with the temperatures from 70°F to a high of 104°F for quick and easy, user-friendly operation. The temperature set indicates set pool/spa temperature, and the GL-235 will automatically deter-mine if the water should be solar heated or cooled, thus maximizing the system capabilities.
Terminal Strip Connections For input power, and sensor inputs. Controls also have industry standard 3 pin connectors for both forward and reverse valve actuator operation and screw terminal connectors.
LED Iindicators Show the status of the system operation, Four highly visible LED's show 1) power to the control, 2) power output directing valves and/or pump to collect heat (heating), 3) power output directing valves and/or pump to dissipate heat (cooling), 4) sensor fault indicator shows sensor(s) not operating properly.
GL-235 valve ouput Rating is the industry standard 24 VAC. A jumper switches the output to 12VAC for compatibility with older valve actuators. Output is fuse protected.
Recirculation Freeze Protection (field selectable operation) turns the GL-235 output ON, directing warmer pool/spa water through the collectors when near freezing tempera-tures are reached at the collector sensor. The GL-235 will allow recirculation when the collector temperature rises to 42°F. Two 10K Ohm sensors are required for operation. One or more freeze snap switches are recommended if freeze recirculation protection is utilized. Important--see installation instructions before using Recirculation Freeze.
System Test SwitchAllows the user to manually over-ride the automatic function of the GL-235 and verify operation. GL235 Controller Dimensions:H 8" ½ x W 6" ½ x D 4" ½
I am looking for just the two temp sensors that come with this kit. Mine current ones have appeared to begin failing. Does anyone know where I could get just those parts?
Hi, Aaron. The replacement Temperature Sensors is Part # GLX-PC-12-KIT.
Will the GL235 replace an Independent Energy C-35?
Hi. Yes, this Goldline Controls GL235 Solar Controller will replace the Independent Energy C-35 controller.
Maybe a stupid question, but what are the 4 tiny clear/orange plastic pieces for in the kit? Are they wire connectors? I just don't want to be hooking it up wrong and/or cause it not to work properly. Thank you!
Angel, The 4 orange plastic pieces are the LED indicators. They get installed inside of the control box.
my solar valve rotates and wont stop when I put it into Auto or on
Hi. The actuator may be wired incorrectly (check the schematic accompanying the actuator) or the toggle switch is in the incorrect position. The valve should be in the Auto position for normal operation.
I have Aqua solar gl-235 solar heat for my pool. My controller indicates that my sensor is not responding (a red indicater light is on). What problem solutions do you reccommend. Do I need to replace the sensor? If so what do you reccommend and what is the price? This seems like a job that I can do?
Hi, I would first follow the troubleshooting suggestions on page 6 of the Goldline Controls GL235 Manual and proceed with the suggested resolution.
Can the 2" I.D. 3-way valve be configured such that inlet is from one end and outlets are the opposite end + the side end? This would make it much easier to cut into my existing piping system.
Hi, Fred. You can use the three-way valve in the way that you've described.
Can the motorized diverter valve be operated while the pump is running?
Hi, Fred. The actuator can not be engaged while the pump is running.
My sensor light is on, steady red, where do I find a replacement and how much are they?
Hello Mark, I would run diagnostic with Hayward 800-657-2287 to see if there is a specific part that needs to be replaced or the unit itself. The whole unit is Goldline Controls GL235 Solar Controller w/ Actuator, Valve & Temp Sensors - GLC2PA is $369.99
The solar panels will not shift the heating light does not come on there are no sensor lights blinking the temperature gauge is set I tried raising and lowering no results and yes the sun is out thank you
Hi, Troubleshooting instructions can be found on page 5 of the Solar Pool Controller Manual.
So the warm side sensor, does it need to be placed on the roof near the panels?
Hi Phillip, The Solar Sensor is to be pace near the panels so that it is exposed to the same sunlight as the panels.
what is the pipe size of valve
Hi, The Goldline Controls GL235 model # GLC2PA comes with a 2" inside, 2½" outside 3-way Positive Seal Valve.
Can this run on 240 VAC?
The input power can be either 115 or 240 VAC.
How does the temperature sensor for this control mount into my plumbing?
You would drill a small hole in your pipe and then insert the temperature sensor into the hole.
