I have a WFE-4/011513. Motor#196233 1HP, which is making a loud whining noise but is operating normally, can it be repaired or do I need to replace it. If it has to be replaced can you suggest which motor I require
Most commonly that is due to the bearings failing however if there is significant corrosion then it may not be worth repairing. I would suggest inspecting first and if the face of the motor and its body is in good condition to then consider replacing the bearings.

Based on the information provided Pentair OEM Motor WFE-4/WF-26 1HP Almond - 355010S or you can use A.O. Smith 1 HP Square Flange 56Y Full Rate EE Motor - B2841V1.

Hello, our motor needs replacing for the Pentair Whisperflo WFDS-4 motor #193508 1 HP / 2 speed pump. Which motor and associated parts are needed? Thank you for your help.
Hi, AO. The B2982 motor along with the Whisperflo Tune Up Kit - GOKIT32 or GOKIT32SALT are the parts you will need. If you're using an external timer, you will not need the Toggle Switch and Canopy Kit for 56Y 2-Speed - 2512558-001 which is sold separately.

How can I tell if my pump or my motor is bad? I am hearing what sounds like a grinding noise that vibrates the whole system so it is hard to localize the sound. I have good water flow. I have attached the sound.

Hi, Carl. Since your still getting good water flow, the motor is the issue and will need to be replaced.

Hello, just replaced my old motor with this one. Claned the flters and added DE. When I first started the motor, I was running at 15 psi. When I tried to vaccum, there was weak suction and pressure went to 20 psi. There's very weak jet at the inlet too. I took the hose off and just ran it off the skimmer and it's still weak. What happened?

Hi, Kam. I would recommend that you check your filters. They may need to be cleaned thoroughly.

Hi,
Can this motor be an upgrade replacement for the motor in WhisperFlo WF26 with the original motor being 1.5hp 1.1 S.F. 8-177475-20?
Thanks.

Hi, Clement. This OEM motor can be used as an energy efficient option. The THP is the same just uses less energy.

does this come with a gasket
Reply
This motor does come with the small rubber slinger gasket that goes over the shaft but it does not come with the shaft seal or pump gaskets. We would strongly recommend the Whisperflo Shaft Seal and Gasket Kit when replacing your motor.

Hi Jose, You can review our How To: Wire a Pool Pump for wiring instructions.

I just finished replacing the shaft seal on my booster pump. As soon as I turned the pump on water was leaking from the shaft seal. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?
Reply
Depending on the model, the installation of a booster pump shaft seal can be slightly different than a pool pump shaft seal. Some booster pump and pool pump shaft seals require that a silicone sealant be used on the outer areas of the metal seat of the shaft seal. The seal will need to be lightly hammered into the body of the pump. You can use a 1 inch PVC coupling or a piece of 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe and a rubber mallet. This procedure will apply to any pool pump or booster pump using a >PS-1000 style shaft seal.
