Interested in purchasing a propane gas pool. Could you supply a local reputable installation installer>
Unfortunately, we are not affiliated with any installers.
how much propane does this 406 use my pool is 16x40 is the 406 the right btu
Hello Danny, Depending on how much you run it is going to depend on cost, a lot of people turn there heater off when they aren't using the pool. Run time will determined how much Propane you will use. If you are wanting to have a propane line put in that is a quote needing to be done by a Gas contractor.
Is there a digital protection device or circuity installed in this device for lighting and electrical surges.
Hi Larry, These units are not equipped with lightning or power surge protection devices or sensors.
On their website Raypac says they do not warranty at any level a heater bought on line. who warranties this heaters which will be installed by my Gas company.
Lary- These heaters will be warrantied by Raypak. As long as you follow their installation guidelines you warranty with Raypak will stay intact.
I want to replace exactly the heater I have now and you have so many to choose from. I want to stay with Raypak. I currently have a 399,999 Natural Gas. My model number is C-R405 EN. The gas on the left of the and the inlet- outlet on the right.I see one that is millivolt and one electronic...wanting to stay with something that my pool man can just slide in place and hook up. I have an Aqualink RS4 panel inside my house to control.
Hello Mitch, The Raypak Heater 406,000 BTU NG ELE is the closest match to your current heater with out losing any BTU. The fittings should be a direct match.
Is this the professional series? and how does it compare to the R408A?
Hi Debbie, We do not carry the Professional Series. They're definitely better designed and built units but will heat the pool the same as the Residential units.
Thank you for your previous answer. So the temp of spa will not be able to be altered from the Aquapod remote if I understand correctly? Thank you
Hello Shawn, That is correct. You will be able to power the 009227 Raypak Heater 406000 BTU LP ELE on and off but ill not have the ability to change the temperature from the remote or automation system.
hello, will this unit work with Hayward/Goldline Controls pool automation system? We need to replace our Hayward H400 Thank you
Hi Shawn, This unit can be wired to your Hayward/Goldline Automation System, however you will only have the ability to turn the unit On/Off. You would not be able to fully control the unit via the system.
Is this a propane unit?
Hello- Yes, the Raypak Heater 406000 BTU LP ELE 009227 is a propane unit.
Hi, I am looking to replace a propane Pentair Minimax Model 400DV 406,000 BTU. Would you recommend this Raypak 406000 BTU LP ELE? Is there a difference between the Raypak 406,000 BTU Digital?
Hi Ray, You can replace your Pentair Minimax Heater with the Raypak Heater 406,000 BTU LP ELE. The digital model has an electronic ignition and a digital display and the non digital model has an milivolt ignition and an analog control panel.
Does this heater have a remote control that works with it?
Hello Barbara, This heater does not come with a wireless controller, You can only control this heater with the connection attached to it.
What heater replaces Raypak Model: P-M406A - EP-C BTU - 399,000 LPG
Michael W, The Raypak Heater 406000 BTU LP ELE (009227) is the cross reference model to your Rheem model P-M406A-EP-C Heater. This is the basic unit, if you need an high altitude unit or any other specific you can call us at 877-372-6038.
Is there a automatice ignighter for this or does it have a pilot to be on all the time
Spanky, This unit has an electronic ignition, just like the ones on a gas grill.
I've currently Zodiac 325 Btu Propane Swimming Pool heater Indoor. Will this replace the current I've have.
This would replace it and then some. You would get an extra 81000 BTUs. I would suggest checking with your propane gas company to make sure the line you have would be enough to supply the greater requirements of the larger BTU heater.
What is the difference between an Electronic and Millivolt ignition?
The basic answer is that Millivolt is the old style of ignition, using a standing pilot light. While the electronic ignition uses a spark start system like a gas grill. Electronic ignitions are more efficient in gas usage and also are better suited for high wind areas where a pilot light might get extinguished.
I would like to replace my current heater with this unit. It is supplied with propane but I will have Nat Gas next year. What is the parts cost to convert? Also, this will replace a Ray Pak P-R405A. Is the wiring basically the same?
The Conversion kit for the 406 unit is only available for the milivolt unit and not the electronic ignition unit, you may view the conversion kit here http://www.inyopools.com/pool_parts_raypak_atmospheric_heaters.aspx (last part on the page - $125.99) This link has an explanation on the differences of electronic ignition and milivolt ignition http://www.inyopools.com/poolanswers_heaters.aspx#electonic_millivolt_ignition and if you would like to purchase the entire heater you may do so here http://www.inyopools.com/heaters_rpseries.aspx Yes this would replace the P-R405A and if you went with the electronic ignition version the wiring would be relatively the same, however if you went with the milivolt ignition there would be not wiring involved.
Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?
Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

Pros: Price , releability, and long term maintenance
Replaced my 12 year propane Mini-Max. Easy install, compact, easy to read set point, and maintenance is very minimal. Also, the tech that installed this unit suggested to cover the heating unit from the elements when not in use to prolong life of heater from sun , etc. I had an extra gas grill cover that fit perfect.
