hi, i also need a replacment for the CX225XREM. Not sure why you recommend to buy a cartridge much smaller? OEM is 28 inch tall and you suggestion a product 11 inch tall? Please let me know.

The CARTRIDGE ELEMENT C225SBHMB confirms the CX225XREM. The CX225XREM confirms to use CX225RE or Filter, Generic Cartridge 25 Sq.ft. (c-4325) as the replacement. If this does not confirm correct, we recommend contacting Hayward directly at (908) 355-7995 or provide the dimensions of your filter, we will need the Length, Outside Diameter of each of the filter, and the Inside Diameter of the top and bottom holes to review.

Hi, Sandra. To determine which size cartridge you need, check to see which size is punch-out or check on the sticker. If none of the sizes are indicated, you will have to physically measure the cartridge height.

Pool filter cartridge replacement, secured all electrical power to the pool pump, opened filter housing vent valve at top of filter canister, unscrewed and removed canister housing drain plug, let all water drain from canister housing, with both hands grabbed the canister upper and lower locking ring mechanism gently but firmly turned ring into unlock position, separated and removed top half of canister housing, with both hands firm grip on actual filter element, and gently but firmly pulled it straight up and removed it from the canister housing, inspected inside of canister canister housing for any possible wear and tear any debris or trash remaining behind, rinsed out empty canister housing with garden hose, reinstalled bottom drain plug, inspected new filter element, installed it into the filter housing, good fit, put top of canister housing back in place, locked it down with locking ring, put bottom drain plug back in, started up pool pump listening to water refilling canister housing, looking for any possible leaks, once steady stream of water begin flowing out of the filter housing vent valve, I closed it off, checked total system for proper operation, differential pressure gauge was reading properly now, pump running strong, no cavitation. All done waiting for summer!

I can't believe this new after market cartridge filter is actually better then the original that came with my Hayward filter. Was having trouble keeping my pool clean but as soon as put this filter in, it took only two days to get my water crystal clear which is something I couldn't get with the original when it was band new. I'm so happy cause was thinking of replacing the whole filtration system.
