How long does a bulb last, my last bulb was not color changing, does that make a difference, How do I know what gasket size to purchase
 Reply

A  Answered on 9/12/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

These LED bulbs have an approximate life of 50k hours and those between a standard bulb does make a difference. In order to confirm the gasket that you will need you will need to know the model name or number of the light fixture itself usually located on the rear of it. If that is not legible you can always email us images to upload@inyopools.com so a tech can review and further advise.

Hi, Alton. Based on your fixture model, you can use the PL5809 - 35W 120V or PL5859 - 35W 120V (v2). You will also need to get a new Lens Gasket - 79101600 (OEM), 791016 (Generic), or LPL-G-P (Heavy Duty).

I have a American Products R-30 bulb, 12 volts and 100 watts. I was inquiring about a suitable LED white light or LED color changing light replacement in which I only have to change the bulb and not any of the wiring that goes back to the circuit breaker. If you could give me model information for both the white light and color changing LED I would appreciate it. Also, if I purchase a light from your company and it does not work to satisfaction in my pool what is the return policy.

A  Answered on 7/25/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Jay. Based on your fixture model your options are P/N PL5846 (White), PL5866 (Color V2), or PL5816 (Color V1). The product can be returned if you're not satisfied, it can be return within 30 days, however, returns are subjected to a restocking fee up to 20 percent.

I have this bulb and it’s about 3 years old. It has started flickering and changing programs after about an hour of operation. I have checked the fixture and it doesn’t seem to have water in it. The switch is good, I’ve checked it too. Is it time to replace this light? Or anything else that could cause this? I have an Amerilite 12v fixture.
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/17/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

If the fixture is good and so is the switch then the bulb must have failed. They have about 50k hours of operation. It is likely that the bulb board shorted.

Will this bulb work for this fixture? The sticker on the fixture indicates model # SP 571, but the lens indicates it is model # SP-540-Z-1. I ask because I already have an LED bulb that measures 6 5/8 diameter that does not quite seat in the socket before the lip of it contacts the edge of the fixture.

Hi Jon, Yes this would mean you just need to replace the bulb we do see where you ordered the PL5808 bulb and our suggestion was the PL5810. We are not 100% sure if the PL5808 will fit in the SP-561 but we do know that the PL5810 will. I would suggest trying the PL5808 bulb first as if it does fit in your housing then it will be brighter than the PL5810. If the PL5808 is too large then you can return that bulb and use the PL5810 which is a little smaller. We would also suggest replacing your Hayward DuraLite Lens Gasket.

A  Answered on 5/22/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Paul, when replacing the bulb you will want to replace your lens gasket. There should be a label on the side of your light housing that will give you a model name and # for your light, if you can supply that to us then we can suggest the proper gasket. With rope lighting you will need to install a track under your coping, purchase a light tower and then the fiber optic rope light. Here is a link to various Pool Deck Jets we offer the Jandy Deck Jets are the most popular.

Hi Neil, Here is the difference between the PL5858 and the PL5808. The PureColors v2 PL5858 uses a higher quality material for the bulb housing meaning longer bulb life. The new housing design on the PureColors v2 means lower heat dispersion resulting in longer bulb life. The v2 also has a Stronger screw-in base.

 Reply

A  Answered on 2/28/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Mark, We are not pulling anything up on Amerlite p/n 74428100 however as long as your light uses a standard screw-in style bulb then the Pure Colors will work on your Amerlite. You will want to double check your voltage as the bulb is available in 12V or 120V, normally this is listed on the face of your bulb or on the back of the light housing. No special switch is needed for this bulb, you would simply change the colors through a standard light switch by flipping the switch on and off to cycle through the colors.

 Reply

A  Answered on 4/29/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Irene, No the PureColors replacement bulbs do not work as a replacement bulb for the Pentair Intellibrite. The Intellibrite uses a LED PCB Board where the Pure Colors LED bulb is a standard screw in bulb. I don't like the light fixtures that use a board as when the board goes bad you have to replace your entire light fixture. We do carry the Complet PureColors Light fixture which does fit into the same light niche that your Intellibrite uses. The Pure Colors Light fixtures uses a Screw in LED Bulb, so if the bulb ever goes bad it is an easy bulb replacement. We also have a Video on How to Replace a Pool Light Fixture which you may find helpful.

Hi, Stan. You first will have to find out if the niche is still usable and also find out the model or size of the niche. Then locate a compatible fixture for that niche and confirm if this bulb is compatible with this bulb. So you will need a new light fixture that is compatible with your niche and this bulb.

Yes, the correct replacement gasket is the 79101600 and the PL5808 is a great replacement bulb for your light fixture.

A  Answered on 5/10/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The best bet would be to remove the light fixture from the niche in the wall of the pool. To do this you will turn off the breaker to the light then get in the swimming pool and remove the pilot screw at the top of the light face ring. This will then free the light from the wall of the pool and you can bring the light fixture up onto your deck. There should be a label on the light housing which will give you the manufacture and model # of your light. If this information has worn off then you can check your dimensions against the Pentair Amerilite Dimensions or the Hayward Astrolite Dimensions and if they match up then this bulb will fit. The voltage information should be on the light housing but if it has worn off then you can remove the bulb from inside the light fixture and the voltage information should be right on the light bulb.

A  Answered on 5/8/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Patrick - As long as the two lights are wired to the same on / off switch then they will automatically synchronized together. For example if when you turn your light switch on and off both lights come on and off together then you are fine. If they are wired to separate switches then you can start them off on the same color show but over time they will fall out of synch.

Hello, The light can be stopped on a color. There are 7 fixed colors white, red, green, blue, gold, cyan and violet. You would cycle to the fixed colors by flipping your pool light switch relatively quickly. In addition to the fixed colors there are 9 color shows..... Evening Sea (slow animation of blue and red), Evening rivers (slow animation of green and red), Riviera (slow animation of blue and green, Rainbow (slow animation of all colors), River of Colors (slow animation of all colors followed by Four Seasons), Disco (fast animation followed by Rainbow) and Party (Fast animation followed by River of Colors).

Can the light be changed without draining the pool?
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/7/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Yes you can replace the bulb in your pool light with this LED bulb without needing to drain your pool water. You will first need to turn off power to the pool light at your breaker then go to the pool light and remove the pilot screw which is located on the face ring of your light. Once the pilot screw is removed this will allow you to bring your entire light fixture up on to your pool deck where you can then replace the bulb. The replacing of the bulb is as simple as unscrewing the old bulb and screwing in the new bulb. I would also suggest replacing your lights lens gasket when replacing the bulb, the two most popular would be the Hayward Astrolite Lens Gasket and the Pentair Amerlite Lens Gasket. We also have a great Video on How to Replace a Swimming Pool Light Bulb which will walk you through the process.

Converted pool lights to low-voltage and LED.

Purchased Intermec 300W transformer from Inyo; installed by a licensed electrician. Removed each light from the niche with a single screw. Layed the fixture on a towel on the pool deck, Removed the clamp from the fixture with a single screw. Screw nuts dissolved as soon as the screw turned. Discovered that the plastic face rims were melted/deformed on both lights. Ordered replacement face rims from Inyo - delivered the next day. Removed the lens and replaced the gasket. Screwed in the new LED bulbs. Added a thin bead of silicone gasket lube. Placed the lens back on the fixture. Fitted the new face rim to the light and aligned the clamp. Replaced the screws and nuts with new stainless steel parts. Reattached the fixture into the niche via the 'hook' on the bottom of the face rim and the screw on the top. Takes a little patience to get the screw to bite, especially in the deep end. New lights look awesome!
