Does this cleaner climb the sides of the pool?

This cleaner is not designed to climb walls. That rule goes for most, if not all above ground pool cleaners.

What do i put my sand filter on? backwash or filter when using this product.
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/15/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

The Hayward Aquabug 500 would require your pool be in filter when want it to clean. If you put it on backwash it will let the water out of your pool and if left unattended could drain the pool.

How long will it take to completely clean a 28' round pool?
 Reply

A  Answered on 6/7/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Alex V.

Tom, The length of time it will take to clean greatly depends on how dirty the pool is and the strength of the pump and filter. I would say on relatively clean pool , 2-6 hours.

What would cause product to not move by itself?
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/8/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

Malinda,  The Hayward Aquabug MODEL#500 could have several issues that cause it not to move by itself. I would begin with checking the filter to see if it is dirty and not allowing enough suction. I would then take the unit out of the water and check the moving parts such as the "A-Frame" and "turbine" to ensure that it is working properly. Then I would check your hoses to make sure you don't have any leaks.

After reading that you can use the Aqua Bug in a salt pool, will it rust or corrode if doing so?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/28/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Shawn, No the AquaBug would not rust or corrode in a salt pool. Salt pools are maintained at a low salt level of 3,000 PPM vs. Ocean water which is roughly 50,000 PPM of salt, so in our experience we have never had an AquaBug rust in a salt pool. Also roughly 95% of the components on the cleaner are plastic.

I bought an aquabug at a yard sale the seller told me it worked, it does have a suck up trash but it doesn't move, this is the first time I've ever tried something like this, is it supposed to move on its own? Does it take batteries to cause it to move?

Hi, Stacey. This unit works off the suction created through the skimmer. It will move by itself once it has the proper amount of suction.

How can you tell if the feet on your aqua bug need replacing? They feel real sticky the shoes that I have on it. Also, the throat seems real brittle and breaks in pieces when I try to remove it--would that cause it not to move when it is in the pool or is it mote of a problem with the shoes?
