When should I change the sand in my filter?

You should change the sand in your filter every 5-7 years. You can generally tell that it is time if your pool water is not as clear as it normally is or when you notice the interval between backwashes is shorter. You can use > this guide to walk you through it.

I have a Hayward S244SLV sand filter. My problem is I over tightened the top union from the valve to the sand filter. Can I purchase the union only and replace it?

Michael, The locking nut for the multi-port valve can not be purchased seperately, you'll have to purchase a completely new valve.

Is the S244SLV the same as the S244SV but without he valve? I have a crack in my filter housing but my slide valve is fine. I just need the filter housing. Am I able to get JUST the housing and reuse the internal parts?

Hello Rick, Yes it's just that the S244SLV has just the tank and the S244SV has the 2" slide valve that comes with it.

I have a two part question
1 how do you tell the difference between a 244 and 310 my filter is about 19 years old an all of the labeling is faded beyond reading. The pool has a 1.5 HP motor and 2" plumbing all the way around. Second question is if I have a 244 and wanted to move to the 310 what would have to change on any of the plumbing or motor?
Thank you in advance.

The S244 sand filter has a diameter dimension of about 24 inches and the S310 filter has a 30 inch one. Also, the first one holds about 300 lbs of sand and the second hold about 500. If you upgraded to the S310 you would not need to modify plumbing or the pump/motor.

my hayward sand filter has split at the seam, is there anyway to repair this part?

If the filter housing itself has cracked, then it has to be replaced, not repaired. If the part that broke was not part of the main housing, it can be replaced as well.

Hi! The bottom pipe that connects to the filter (not the valve, it's after the union of the valve – the one that touches the filter wall) is leaking for me. Is there a part I can buy to fix this one? I'm not sure if the filter parts can be replaced and taken apart.
That looks like the Bulkhead fitting, part SPX244PX

I HAVE HAYWARD PRO-SERIES SAND FILTER S244SV AND BACKWASH VALUE MODEL SP710XA-13.
I NEED TO REPLACE THE VALUE BUT I COULD NOT FIND THE VALE WITH THAT MODEL NUMBER.
I BOUGHT THE REPLACEMENT OF THE VALE MODEL SPX0710X32 BUT THE SPACING BETWEEN THE INLET AND OUTLET OPENING IS TOO SHORT. WHERE I CAN FIND THE RIGHT ONE?

Hi, JY. Your replacement valve options are P/N SP0710X62 or SP0710XALL. The SPX0710X32 valve is for the S200 Series sand filter only.

I am trying to determine which backwash valve I require. The filter has 2 different model numbers on it. S310S is near the top of the sticker, the bottom sticker that also has the serial number, says the model number is S244SV. I just wanted to know if they both use the valve with the 1 1/2" unions, or the 2" unions, or if each uses a different valve. The current valve isn't the original.
Thank you for contacting Inyo Pools, Valves 1 1/2" Valve Assy. for Hayward Sand Filters With Gauge Side Mount (SP0710X62) and Backwash Valve for 2" Side Mount Hayward Filters - SP0715X62 are the correct valves for your filter
