Is the savi melody dimmable? Can the savi melody be used in the bottom of a pool 4ft deep shooting up on the floor?
Reply
The SAVI MELODY is not dimmable. You can put these in the floor of the pool but keep in mind that you need 14 inches of straight 1.5" pipe going into the back of the wall fitting to accomodate for the Melody. After the 14 inches of straight pipe you can use a 90 or whatever fittings you need at that point. The same applies if you are installing in the wall of the pool. You may view or purchase the SAVI Melody here >http://www.inyopools.com/lights_nexxus_melody.aspx

Can I put a SaVi LED Light into an existing return jet. How does that work.
Reply
It doesn't. These lights are not intended to work with existing return jets in your water lines. They use a wall fitting very similar to the return jet which has piping behind it to take wire up to a transformer. This is something you do when installing your pool.

I am looking at lighting a pool that is 34'X14' and i am curious on how well the SAVI Melody would light this size pool. I am looking at getting 2-3 lights and would prefer the 2 lights if possible. Any help on how well these lights will illuminate the water area would be greatly appreciated.
-Thanks

These lights give a 180 degree beam so would do a good job lighting your pool. Also for your pool you would need three shining away from the house or primary viewing area.

Can these lights be used in a salt water pool? The instructions say fresh water use only thanks.
Reply
Hi Robert, Yes the Savi Melody Lights can be used in salt pools as traditional salt pools are normally maintained at 3,000 to 4,000 PPM of salt. The owner's manual is referring to that you cannot use the lights with seawater which is normally at 50,000 PPM of salt. So you will be fine using these on a standard salt pool.

I have the nicheless. Color led lighting installed, can I just get the 12 volt,1.2 amps,14 watts bulb.Don't need the cord?
Reply
Unfortunately, these are only sold as a complete light with cord as the leds are a PCB board inside the light meaning the whole light needs replacing when it goes bad.

I'm having a 40x20 liner pool installed and am wanting to put Savi Melody lights under the diving board and opposite in the shallow end. Will this be enough? The house is n the long side. Thanks.
Reply
Hi Kurt, We would suggest 4 lights along the long side of the pool pointing away from the main viewing area. Most of the time this would be the long side of the pool on the same side as the house, as you want to get the wash out effect of the lights. Another analogy is you don't want car head lights pointing back at you.

Can I replace the LED savi melody light without draining the water below the light fixture? I believe the lens cover comes off with a special key and I can pull the bad light out.... Just not sure if the PVC conduit that the light sits in is designed to be water tight so no water enters the conduit.... Rob

No, you don't need to drain the water to replace this fixture. The whole fixture should be able to be pulled out onto the deck where you can work on it.

I have 2 Savi-Melody 100 lights that appear to be shot. One was stuck on one color and very dim, and the other went out. Eventually the dim light went out as well. Thinking it may be the transformer, I replaced it and it had no affect.
What is it I need to buy? Is it just the cartridge I have read about or do I need 2 completely new units, including having to run the cord again? If just the cartridge, can I simply replace that part and not have to worry about re-running the cord?

Patrick, How long have you had the lights? There is a 2-year manufacturer warranty.SAVI Melody LED Cartridge - MELODY-CARTRIDGE-KIT

How do you remove the lens cover so the cartridge can be replaced? Color dark blue is dim and then turns to red. Other colors work OK. I assume I need to replace the cartridge. The pool is five years old.
Reply
Yes, the cartridge would be what needs to be replaced. That being said, we do not have it in stock and would have to special order that part which will take 3-4 weeks for delivery.

I would like to use this light above water. Is there a problem with that. Being LED and no issue with heat I can't see an issue

Hello Alan- Unfortunately these are water cooled lights and per the manufacturer have to be installed a minimum of 4 inches below water: "The light must be installed in or on a wall of the pool (or water feature) with the top of the lens opening not less than 4 inches (10.16cm) below the normal water level of the pool." This is from "step 1" on the installation manual for these lights.

Hi, the light comes on for about a second, then shuts off. It's obviously getting some power, so what else could be causing this, and what do I need to replace to make it stay on?
Reply
Hi. According to the Savi-LED Lighting Products Manual, this could be caused by a poor connection or using the improper wire gauge. You can find additional info in this manual or contact Zodiac Pool Systems at 800.822.7933.

Hi Ron, this light should be sufficient for your 16' x 34' pool and brighter than your current fiber optic light.

Just had my two Melody LED lights go out. One looks to have been out for some time, the other just died. I very rarely have used these lights over a 3 1/2 year period. I am not happy with the lights and sorry I did not install regular light in pool at time of construction. Is this an installation problem?

Marney, If you do not a niche installed in the pool wall, you will have to stick with the Melody lights.

Upgrading 18 year old Fiberstars system to LED while replacing the liner. Am limited to 5 inches of 1.5 inch PVC behind current wall fittings. Will four 6 watt SAVI Mini Melody's be enough to illuminate a 46x20x30 true L shaped pool?
Reply
Hi, Bryan. The SAVI Mini Melody's are what you will need if you have 5" of PVC. A quantity of 6 should be adequate to illuminate a pool your size depending on where they are positioned.

Can the SAVI MELODY be connected to a wifi light switch so that they can be turned on and off using a smart phone app?

If the wall switch is simply replacing the on/off toggle switch then yes.

I have 4 of these in my pool that is about 9 years old. They have all failed two times and been replaced. The ones in there now will no longer synchronize the colors, and some have lost one color or completely gone out. Are these newer lights more reliable than the older ones?

Hi, James. They are and is now field serviceable. The Melody LED Cartridge is available as a separate part.

I am looking to change out my 7 year old Savi Melody 100 or 150 as the unit is cracked and not working. There is no serial # or factory # on the unit. What options do I have do obtain a LED unit with similar results. Do I have to drain the pool in order to make this replacement?

Rex, we no longer carry these nicheless lights and are unable to suggest the replacement. We apologize for the inconvenience. We suggest contacting the manufacturer directly to see if they can offer some replacement options. They can be reached by calling 800.822.7933.
