How do I tell the difference between old style and new style shaft seal
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/8/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Alex V.

Ronny, The best way to tell is by the serial number listed on the pump body (housing). The old style seal is used with serial #s prior to P08FF0001. If you have the above serial # or later, you would use the new style shaft seal.

Where should the serial number be on a Jandy PlusHP? Would it be a sticker that might have gone missing or is there a more permanent number I can get off it somewhere?

Lauren, the serial number will be on the wet end of the pump near the pump basket. It is usally on a sticker or metal label.

I have not been able to find anything on which way the spring deal should be put in on the shaft. The seal pooped out on me and did not know which way it was in. Should the hard plastic surface on the spring seal go to the white surface of the white seal. Might be a dum question but thanks. I'm thinking go the way I have asked is right but not sure. Thanks.
 Reply

A  Answered on 3/4/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

Hello Justin, The seal should go on the back of the impeller shaft with the black plastic ring facing the white ceramic seal. The black plastic ring will make the seal once it is pressed against the white ceramic piece.

I have a 3 yr old Jandy Plus HP 1.5 HP Pump Model Number V16FG0645. The original Century Motor went out after 3 years and I replaced it with a US Motor which is now shutting off on thermal overload. I've checked the pump and nothing is binding or squealing , the replaced shaft seal is fine, cleaned the filter and checked the suction side and have found no problems. I suspect the motor is failing and needs to be replaced. I need to know the correct motor and shaft seal for this pump.

A  Answered on 10/10/2019 by Industry Professional

I would verify that the motor is receiving full voltage when it is trying to run. If the voltage drops when motor kicks on then it will cause the motor to run hot. You should have an electrician do this testing as you would be dealing with live voltage. If it is verified the voltage drops more than 2 volts when the pump starts to run the electrician should then look for the loose connections in wiring. He can also check the amperage being pulled if the voltage drops then the amperage will increase because it is starving.

My Stealth Pump is NOFA6851 and I need shaft seal. From what I can find out a 13/16" ID seal is required which is difficult to source. Your listing shows 3/4" ID which seems odd as that isn't what Jandy A0580500 seems to be?

Hi Frederick, Would it be possible to post a photo of the label on your Jandy Stealth pump which shows the pump model number and serial #? This is usually a small label on the plastic pump housing and the model # should start with JHP or SHP. Simply click the reply link below to post to upload your photos. Once we receive those photos then we can make the proper suggestion.

The full model name is SHPM1-OCND and serial No: N08FA6851 (my understanding is that would be before change to smaller ID seal) What is somewhat confusing is that Jandy calls for 13/16" seal and you list seal as 3/4" seal?
