What is Service Factor?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/11/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

So this motor is used on a Hayward Tristar. If you confirm that is what you have then you can use the GOKIT81 which includes all of the seals and gaskets with lubricant.

I have a SP3210ZIBE pump. Is this a single speed? If I want a 2 speed pump is the wiring the same as the single speed. What is the 2 speed pump number? and do I need any extra parts? Thank You

Hi, Dean. The dual speed motor - SPX3210Z2BER wiring will be slightly different if it will be operating both speeds. You will need the Hayward Tristar Tune Up Kit - GOKIT81

The wiring for the 2 speed pump. Do I need more wires coming into the motor or the same wires I have but going to different terminals?
 Reply

Dean, The 2-speed motor requires an additional wire for the low speed, unlike your single speed motor. There is a wiring diagram on the motor. Also, the Toggle Switch and Canopy Kit - 2512558-001 or Dual Speed Timer - T106R is required to operate the dual speed motor.
