Can you install a new liner over the old one ? Which liner is better in thickness

In doing some research, you can install your new liner over the old one, but only on the bottom half of the pool. You cannot attach a new liner over the side walls and into the same clips.. You can cut the old liner away from the side walls and use it for added protection. Some installers recommend you completely remove the old liner from the pool. The choice is yours. The thicker MIL of the liner, the better the liner is a general rule of liner quality.
