I have a 1.5 HP Pentair Whisperflo pump. The motor is shot and i am considering replacing the motor with this one. Is it compatible with my pump?

Yes, you can switch over to this Variable Speed motor and should bolt right up to your Pentair pump.

I want to replace my K48M2PA105 pump motor (which is close to dead) with this unit VGreen ECM 27SQU but I see that it is a 56Y frame. Is this adaptable to my existing pump (48Y)? Also my existing motor is a 2HP while this unit shows max rating of 2.7. Is this the appropriate HP to replace the old 2hp single speed?

This VS Motor would be a fine alternative. 56Y frame Square Flange motors are 1/2" wider (body diameter) than 48Y frame with Identical hole Spacings on the Flange. They are inter-changeable. The 2.7 HP of the ECM27SQU is the MAX it can run. You will decide, when setting it up, how powerful it will be. That is the nature of the variable speed.

I first contacted INYO Pools and spoke to one of their friendly customer service representatives who assisted me in the selection of the correct replacement motor to fit the existing pump. The service representative ensured all my questions where answered and went beyond a step.
Once I received my variable pump my V-Green 2.7 HP Square Flange 48Y Variable Speed Motor - ECM27SQU, The step by step DIY video that INYO Pools provided me was great. Mind you, this was the first time that I have done something like this. The entire process took me about an hour and half to install.

The V270 Green manual is incomplete. There is no mention in the User Manual of the micro-switches adjacent to the 4 pin communication connector in the terminal box or of their function. Once the internal plastic cover is removed (Figure 12 ) four white switches can be seen in a "red" mount. All four of these switches must be in the "on" position for the User Interface to function. My unit came from the factory with switches in the "off" position. After numerous discussions with supplier technical people who were also unaware of these switches it was determined the number 1 (power) switch should be in the "on" position. However, having only switch 1 on does not work. All four switches must be in the "on" position. The User Manual should be updated to indicate these switches must be in the "on" position. I assume some units may come from the factory with these switches "on", and therefore there would be no problem.

My old pool pump was running a 2 horsepower Century A o smith motor. Taking the old motor off was straightforward. Turned off all power running to the pump. Opened the pump strain error to clean it out and release pressure. I took a ratchet and loosened the bolts on the housing. The old impeller was 1 hp and missing the retaining screw on the end. All I needed to do to pull the old impeller of was to lock the old motor with a wrench. The old impeller was warped from overhearing at some point. I replaced the impeller and the shaft seal fairly quickly once I got the bolt to hold the impeller in. I just took over servicing my pool myself after letting go of my pool man, and there have been many things that I've found that have been done over the years to this system. Imstallation was simple, I suggest hooking up the wiring first if your clearances are tight to make things go smoother. Lubed up the o rings and boled the motor/impeller/diffuser all into the pump housing. The most difficult part was getting the wireless interface that I bought for the whole unit to communicate properly. After installing this motor my pool is crystal clear. I will update with savings in 2 months.

Great pump, easy for me to program, install manual was clear and well written with lots of pictures. Without owning a pool or knowing anything about pumps I was able to replace the old single speed electric motor in about an hour. I'm using the auxiliary load switch to turn off my O3 generator when it's on low speed, my electric bill is 20% lower. All with the help of InyoPools and the manual. I've had two minor problems: rain water got into the timer and on the circuit board even with the cover closed. The pump sits under the eve of my house and got several good dousings with the Florida downpours before it gave out. The company quickly sent me a new one but I will get the remote kit to move the timer to an enclosure on the side of the house. My pump currently lives under a plastic tub. The second problem is that I have a solar heater on the second story and when the motor goes into slow speed it doesn't have enough pressure to circulate the water. The solution I'd like to see is to somehow shut the solar heater valve with the auxiliary load switch from the pump when it slows down no matter what the various temps are. I'm still researching this.

This is like the best pump ever. I am so critical and everything falls short for me. Not this one, it is just great. I replaced the crappy by comparison AO Smith orig motor that shipped with my Sta-Rite pump. The old motor crapped out and I wanted to go variable speed besides. It is built in such a way a heavy rainstorm is not a threat if it is running concurrently. I have had the first one for 7+ years now, no grinding, no noises, nothing funny, just smooth 10+/- per day operation. I took the control panel off the top, which you can do with an extension kit, and mounted it on the wall for ez access. Built in Freeze control, backlit display, buttons are very solid. Easy to self install. Very cost effective too. I love this pump.

Perfect replacement for a Jandy ePump 2.7HP motor. The motor is identical to the Jandy version except there is an LCD controller mounted on top. This pump can be fully controlled by an AquaLink RS control panel including RPM and power in Watts. To convert the pump for AquaLink RS use, remove the 4 wires from LCD controller that runs inside the pump to the screw terminal block. Next, set the 4 DIP switches next to the terminal block to the down or OFF position. Wire the RS-485 bus from the AquaLink RS to the correct pins on the terminal block. If you are replacing a Jandy ePump, the wires go to the same exact positions. You can optionally remove the LCD controller on top since it is no longer used.

Don't buy a V-green pump, my interface failed after five months. The LCD screen on this interface will fail rendering the programming portion of this pump useless. That can render the great pump useless because the programming for the variable speeds and times are what make the pump a great power/money saver. Don't buy either the pump or this interface if you can help it.

Looked up video on inyopools.com to remove old pump then followed instructions for Tune Up Kit GOKIT79 to assemble this new motor. It's much quieter and definitely saves energy.

In the past, the cost of these pumps have been prohibitively expensive - I just couldn't see how I'd save that much money on my electric bill. But when my old pump finally gave up the ghost, I stumbled upon this little gem. The cost was reasonable (other makes still charge way more than they should so shop around). Pros: Easy installation, clearly written manual, Quite operation, easy programming Cons: I can't manage this pump completely from my indoor Pentair EasyTouch control panel. The best that I can do is set the start and end time of when the pump will run, then use the programming feature on the physical pump to set the different stage times and RPM. So far this hasn't been a big issue as I don't change the stage times and RPM very often if at all.
