Hayward 2.5 HP Dual Speed Up Rate 230V Replacement Motor
Hello I want to replace a Hayward super ll 2.5 hp motor (sp3020x25az) Is there a dual speed motor that will fit this housing? Will I need another timer? I got a digital timer now The pipes are 2" Thank you
Hello, the SPX1620Z2M will be the closest fit to what you currently have. If your timer has the ability to operate a two speed motor, then you will be fine. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a different timer or a switch.
Can you please tell me how I can remove the back part of the pump. Or do you have a video that will show how? I am in the middle of replacing the pump.
Cynthia, This video may help on removing the back cover. The video is a different pump but the steps would be similar.
Will this motor exactly replace the A.O. Smith Century SPX1620Z2MC? I don't know what the "C" means, so maybe it's not important, or maybe it is. Thanks for any info.
Yes, that is the correct replacement motor. If you want me to confirm that you can attach a picture of the complete pump, not just the motor, and I can confirm that for you.
I'm trying to find a replacement motor for my pool pump but my model number doesn't match what you have listed as the model number. My model number begins with a C48 and yours begins with an SP. Please help.
What we have listed on our chart pages is the pump model number. The model number you have will just identify the motor. If you look on the plastic housing on the pump there should be a sticker which will have the pump model number. You can usually find this by the discharge port on the pump. Once you locate it you can choose the correct replacement motor. Be certain to change the shaft seal and gaskets as needed. You can use our >How to guide if you need help.
Can you direct me to the proper hi low switch for this motor?
Unfortunately the manufacturer does not offer the switch for the 2 speed 220v motors any longer. If you already have a 220 volt timer (on/off) you would need an Intermatic T106R to switch from high to low speed. If you do not have a timer currently you would need the T10604R which is a 220v on/off timer and a high/low timer.
Can you replace single speed pump motor with dual speed pump motor?
Yes but you can't go with a higher HP than the single speed motor. For example if you have a 1 HP single speed you cannot go with a 1.5 HP dual speed motor; you would be able to use a 1 HP dual speed motor. Customer would need to purchase a toggle switch or timer to switch from high speed to low speed.

I was able to order a new motor and got fast free delivery. There are many good tutorial videos available here that took all the guess work out of the job. Replacing the motor was easier than expected and I saved a lot of money by doing it myself and getting the parts from INYOpools.com.
(5 out of 5 stars) Heavy-duty motor

Pros: Shipping Speed & Horsepower
Cons: Price and Bearing Burnout
This motor replaced a replacement motor which I bought from Inyo four years ago, which replaced the original, all the same model. Bearing burnout like this is normal. But this motor can turn your pool water over so fast you don't have to run the pump as many hours as a smaller model, and you save on your electric bill. I looked all over the internet, and INYO had the best price on this item plus INYO's service was outstanding!! I called in the order on Monday and the motor was at my front door Friday afternoon. Great customer responsiveness.
