Hi will this replace a Hayward K48N2N106A1 ? If so are there any additional parts I would need? Thanks.
Hi Andrew, Your current motor is a single speed motor and can be found here 2.5 HP Single Speed Motor the motor on this page is the dual speed version of your current motor. The dual speed motor is more energy efficient but will require a separate controller. If you are using a standard yellow dial timer for your current pump then you will require this Dual Speed Pool Pump Timer. If you have a Hayward Super Pump then you will require the Hayward Super Pump Tune-Up Kit and if you have a Hayward Super II Pump then you will require a Hayward Super II Tune Up Kit
Thank you for the quick response yes we are replacing a single to a dual switch we know this ... we just want to know what other parts we would need in doing so ... i’m a little confused on what the “separate controller” is that you’re speaking of that we should replace does that mean the timer or is that another part to be replaced?
Thanks for the clarification! The only parts you will need is the Tune-Up Kit and controller. For the Tune-Up Kit If you have a Hayward Super Pump then you will require the Hayward Super Pump Tune-Up Kit and if you have a Hayward Super II Pump then you will require a Hayward Super II Tune Up Kit For the controller it works as follows... Your current timer would power your pump on and off and the new T106 Dual Speed Timer would switch between hi speed and low speed. If you have an automated control system on your pool like a Hayward Aqua Logic or Jandy Aqua Link then the dual speed control may already be built into that system. If you are using a yellow dial timer to turn the pump on and off then the T106 Dual Speed Timer is needed.
Sorry for all the questions and thank you for all the information! ONE more I promise;) we have a salt system -is there a different kit for that? And it’s just the super pump not the ll... thank you!
Hi I have a AO smith motor 7-184874-01 (Hayward replacement) and the start capacitor is bad. Which one do I need and is it the one outside on top of the motor or the one inside (at the end cap)? Getting the humming sound at startup.
I had this exact motor when my pump was installed. I want to go back to this motor after changing to a single speed 1.5 hp motor. The motor shuts down when the ambient temperature increases in (summer/spring time). I have a 25,000 gallons pool with a cartridge filter. Will this model motor work for me?
Kris, We can confirm if you provide us with the current pump or motor info.
Can I replace my hayward 2 hp single speed motor with a 2 speed 2.5 hp if I change the diffuser and impeller to match the 2.5 hp motor?
Hi. Yes, you can if your filter is large enough to handle the additional water flow on high speed.
I have a hayward super 2 pump SP1620-Z-2-MC, 2.5HP, R56J, 230VOLTS.
WILL THIS WORK FOR ME?
I want to replace a Hayward super ll 2.5 hp motor (sp3020x25az)
Is there a dual speed motor that will fit this housing?
Will I need another timer? I got a digital timer now
The pipes are 2"
Can you please tell me how I can remove the back part of the pump. Or do you have a video that will show how? I am in the middle of replacing the pump.
Will this motor exactly replace the A.O. Smith Century SPX1620Z2MC? I don't know what the "C" means, so maybe it's not important, or maybe it is. Thanks for any info.
Yes, that is the correct replacement motor. If you want me to confirm that you can attach a picture of the complete pump, not just the motor, and I can confirm that for you.
I'm trying to find a replacement motor for my pool pump but my model number doesn't match what you have listed as the model number. My model number begins with a C48 and yours begins with an SP. Please help.
What we have listed on our chart pages is the pump model number. The model number you have will just identify the motor. If you look on the plastic housing on the pump there should be a sticker which will have the pump model number. You can usually find this by the discharge port on the pump. Once you locate it you can choose the correct replacement motor. Be certain to change the shaft seal and gaskets as needed. You can use our >How to guide if you need help.
Can you direct me to the proper hi low switch for this motor?
Unfortunately the manufacturer does not offer the switch for the 2 speed 220v motors any longer. If you already have a 220 volt timer (on/off) you would need an Intermatic T106R to switch from high to low speed. If you do not have a timer currently you would need the T10604R which is a 220v on/off timer and a high/low timer.
Can you replace single speed pump motor with dual speed pump motor?
Yes but you can't go with a higher HP than the single speed motor. For example if you have a 1 HP single speed you cannot go with a 1.5 HP dual speed motor; you would be able to use a 1 HP dual speed motor. Customer would need to purchase a toggle switch or timer to switch from high speed to low speed.

I was able to order a new motor and got fast free delivery. There are many good tutorial videos available here that took all the guess work out of the job. Replacing the motor was easier than expected and I saved a lot of money by doing it myself and getting the parts from INYOpools.com.

Pros: Shipping Speed & Horsepower
Cons: Price and Bearing Burnout
This motor replaced a replacement motor which I bought from Inyo four years ago, which replaced the original, all the same model. Bearing burnout like this is normal. But this motor can turn your pool water over so fast you don't have to run the pump as many hours as a smaller model, and you save on your electric bill. I looked all over the internet, and INYO had the best price on this item plus INYO's service was outstanding!! I called in the order on Monday and the motor was at my front door Friday afternoon. Great customer responsiveness.

This product will need additional parts to work. Such as a toggle switch. Who wants to buy products and wait for another week to pass to realize another item is required. Also, I requested a user manual for this item and was told that the electrical diagram was on the motor. There is a diagram on the motor, but it was no help when adding the necessary toggle switch. Now the weekend is here, and I have to wait for Monday. Inyo pools do not have support on the weekend ?
