Hi will this replace a Hayward K48N2N106A1 ? If so are there any additional parts I would need? Thanks.

Hi Andrew, Your current motor is a single speed motor and can be found here 2.5 HP Single Speed Motor the motor on this page is the dual speed version of your current motor. The dual speed motor is more energy efficient but will require a separate controller. If you are using a standard yellow dial timer for your current pump then you will require this Dual Speed Pool Pump Timer. If you have a Hayward Super Pump then you will require the Hayward Super Pump Tune-Up Kit and if you have a Hayward Super II Pump then you will require a Hayward Super II Tune Up Kit

Thank you for the quick response yes we are replacing a single to a dual switch we know this ... we just want to know what other parts we would need in doing so ... i’m a little confused on what the “separate controller” is that you’re speaking of that we should replace does that mean the timer or is that another part to be replaced?

Thanks for the clarification! The only parts you will need is the Tune-Up Kit and controller. For the Tune-Up Kit If you have a Hayward Super Pump then you will require the Hayward Super Pump Tune-Up Kit and if you have a Hayward Super II Pump then you will require a Hayward Super II Tune Up Kit For the controller it works as follows... Your current timer would power your pump on and off and the new T106 Dual Speed Timer would switch between hi speed and low speed. If you have an automated control system on your pool like a Hayward Aqua Logic or Jandy Aqua Link then the dual speed control may already be built into that system. If you are using a yellow dial timer to turn the pump on and off then the T106 Dual Speed Timer is needed.

Hi I have a AO smith motor 7-184874-01 (Hayward replacement) and the start capacitor is bad. Which one do I need and is it the one outside on top of the motor or the one inside (at the end cap)? Getting the humming sound at startup. Thanks

Hi, Allen. Based on the info I've located, your motor only has a Run Capacitor - RD-35-370.

I had this exact motor when my pump was installed. I want to go back to this motor after changing to a single speed 1.5 hp motor. The motor shuts down when the ambient temperature increases in (summer/spring time). I have a 25,000 gallons pool with a cartridge filter. Will this model motor work for me?

Hi. Yes, you can if your filter is large enough to handle the additional water flow on high speed.

Hi, Gabriela. Yes, this motor will work as a replacement. You will also need the Hayward Super II Pump Tune Up Kit - GOKIT2 or GOKIT2SALT

Hello I want to replace a Hayward super ll 2.5 hp motor (sp3020x25az) Is there a dual speed motor that will fit this housing? Will I need another timer? I got a digital timer now The pipes are 2" Thank you

Hello, the SPX1620Z2M will be the closest fit to what you currently have. If your timer has the ability to operate a two speed motor, then you will be fine. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a different timer or a switch.

Can you please tell me how I can remove the back part of the pump. Or do you have a video that will show how? I am in the middle of replacing the pump.

Cynthia, This video may help on removing the back cover. The video is a different pump but the steps would be similar.

Will this motor exactly replace the A.O. Smith Century SPX1620Z2MC? I don't know what the "C" means, so maybe it's not important, or maybe it is. Thanks for any info.

Yes, that is the correct replacement motor. If you want me to confirm that you can attach a picture of the complete pump, not just the motor, and I can confirm that for you.

I'm trying to find a replacement motor for my pool pump but my model number doesn't match what you have listed as the model number. My model number begins with a C48 and yours begins with an SP. Please help.

What we have listed on our chart pages is the pump model number. The model number you have will just identify the motor. If you look on the plastic housing on the pump there should be a sticker which will have the pump model number. You can usually find this by the discharge port on the pump. Once you locate it you can choose the correct replacement motor. Be certain to change the shaft seal and gaskets as needed. You can use our >How to guide if you need help.

Can you direct me to the proper hi low switch for this motor?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/18/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Unfortunately the manufacturer does not offer the switch for the 2 speed 220v motors any longer. If you already have a 220 volt timer (on/off) you would need an Intermatic T106R to switch from high to low speed. If you do not have a timer currently you would need the T10604R which is a 220v on/off timer and a high/low timer.

Can you replace single speed pump motor with dual speed pump motor?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/16/2007 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Yes but you can't go with a higher HP than the single speed motor. For example if you have a 1 HP single speed you cannot go with a 1.5 HP dual speed motor; you would be able to use a 1 HP dual speed motor. Customer would need to purchase a toggle switch or timer to switch from high speed to low speed.

12 year old pump motor had worn out bearings.

I was able to order a new motor and got fast free delivery. There are many good tutorial videos available here that took all the guess work out of the job. Replacing the motor was easier than expected and I saved a lot of money by doing it myself and getting the parts from INYOpools.com.
