Is there a way to identify that my pump is in fact a FLEX48 pump? Also is there an installation guide?

If you look on your motor label there should be a marking labeled FR or Frame if your frame type is listed as 48 or anything with 48 in it (i.e 48Y, 48X, etc..) you would fine to use this timer. Some common pumps this timer will work on is the Hayward Power-Flo, Hayward Matrix, Pentair Dynamo, and Sta-Rite JSAL This timer is typically used on pumps used on an above ground pool and most above ground pool pumps have a 48 frame.
