When wiring the receptacle or plug-in for the pump, is a 20 amp breaker sufficient or do I need a 30 amp breaker?
Hi. A 20 amp breaker will be sufficient if this pump will be the only equipment running on that breaker. If not, then a larger capacity breaker is required.
I have an hayward power-flo lx sp1580z2 and i am looking for a replacement on/off switch do you sell this?
Hi. The replacement switch for that model pump is Part #SPX1500S8.

I have a Hayward SP1580Z2. Has a twist plug. Can I replace w/ SPX1250WA Straight prong?
John, If you have a twist lock cord, your local code may require it. I would recommend checking with a local electrician to see if the use of a 3 prong cord is allowed.
I have a Hayward Power-Flo pump, on the tag the model # is 317P387 also on the tag in small letters it has SP125J. It is leaking water from the pump where it joins the motor. Are parts still available for this unit?

looking to replace a sp1580x15tlfp 1.5 hp..I assume that sp1580x15tl 1.5 is what I need.. Would a 1hp.work on a 18ft..above ground pool? Thank you
Hi, Gary. Yes, a 1HP pump is sufficient for an 18' above ground pool. The pump you have has a twist lock power cord so you will need p/n SP1580TL.
Need A Haywood In ground pool pump, Had A Max-Flo worked great, Pool is 15 x 30 3ft to 6ft deep.
Hello Don- Can you provide us with either what HP pump you currently have or the size of the filter that you have so we can get the right size for you please?

I have a 6 year old Hayward Pump Power Flo LX model #S48E48A04 HP 40GPM It does not have a basket. It is being used in a water feature and supplies enough water. I would like to replace this unit with a new Hayward product. Either a new Power Flo LX or the Power Flow II. What new model would be the equivalent? SP1580, SP1775? Thank you
Don, If it's a Power Flo LX, the SP1500 series Power Flo will replace it. The SP1580 would be correct if you are replacing a 1HP pump.
Is there a warranty?
The Hayward Power-Flo LX has a 1-year manufacturer warranty.
Please provide approx. GPM flow rate for Hayward 1hp type SP (15021X ESG through sand filter, pool heater and 20 ft. of 1 1/2 hose. I am guessing about 60 GPM, but would like an expert opinion. Thanks, Vic

I have a Hayward Power Flow LX pump that has a disposable fabric filter for my above ground pool. The motor is shot . Is there a replacement A O Smith motor (SP8E48A04) or can I get the complete pump system with fabric filter?
I have a 300 gal water fountain with a 24 inch sheer descent , currently own a Hayward 1580 1 hp but it has too much water flow for the sheer descent. I'm looking for something smaller . How many hp has the sp1540c can't seem to find the specs, also what kind of filter would be good for this application. Thanks!
Hi Patrick, The SP1540C pump is not HP rated but is rated on the flow rate which is 40 GPM.
I currently have a Power Flo Matrix SP 1510-Z1-XEHC but it just died on me. I don't seem to find a replacement for this exact pump. I'm wondering if the listed pump would be ok as replacement. My current pump connects on the side to the filter. This appears to be on top. Can that be turned so it connects properly or is there another part that I would need. Thank you for your help.
Hi Mary, The Hayward Matrix 1 HP w/ Switch Motor (SP1510Z1XE) will be the correct replacement motor. The Power-Flo LX 1HP, 115V, Single Spd. Pump discharge can be rotated. Instructions on how to rotate the discharge can be found in our How To Rotate the discharge port on your Hayward Power Flo Pump.
Is the cord the three prong twist and lock type? Is this pump suitable for a 15x30 with a 52inch wall?
This model does not have the twist lock plug and is suitable for a 15 by 30 ft, 52 inch pool. You just need to be sure that the gallons per minute rating for the pump is compatible with the filter that you have. The model of this pump with the twist lock is SP1580TL.
does this model come with the cord
Yes this pump comes with a 6' cord included.
I have a 21' above ground pool and the pump motor is going out was looking for a replacement but cant read all the info on motor label. its a Hayward power flo pump and I can read 40gpm, amps 8.0 and sp-1540-z1-dw? I have a sp1510-z-1-esc that someone gave me but it doesn't have the power as my other! can you recommend one similar. thanks.
JD, Depending on what size filter you have, the Power-Flo LX 1HP, 115V, Single Spd. Pump could be a suitable replacement.
can I order this with a twist lock cord?
The part you are looking for is SP1580TL
Would this pump be compatible with a Proline (Namco) sand filter for a 24' round above ground pool? The filter is a 22" diameter and says max flow rate of 55 GPM.
Steve - Yes a 22" Proline (also called Astral 1800 Series) sand filter is compatible with a Power Flo LX !HP Pump.
We have a Power Flo Matrix #sp1510-C1-XEHC, it is getting hot and shutting down, what motor should this be replaced with, it is a 1hp
I currently have a Power-Flo LX 1.5HP pump motor. Will a Power-Flo LX 1HP pump motor work with my current pump ie Does the 1HP and 1.5HP motors use the same pump? Thank You
I have the Power Flo LX pump and it says the model # is SP1580Z2. Do you know if this would be the correct pump to replace it with? Thank you!
Yes this would be the proper replacement pump for the Hayward SP1580Z2 pump.
I intend to replace my circa 1985 American Products pump with your Hayward Power-Flo SP1580. Can I use the current electric cord which has two wires, Black and Red? Also does the unit come with full wiring info?
Hello Barry - You can use your existing cord as long as it is being plugged into a 115v outlet. A wiring diagram will be on the label of the new pump motor.
Does the Hayward Power Flo pump come with a power cord?
Yes this comes with a 6 ft. standard 110/115v cord.
Does this pump come with an on/off switch? What is the amp draw of the motor?
This motor does not come with an on/off switch. We recommend the following timer for 1hp models: http://www.inyopools.com/Products/02400001004822.htm. For 1.5hp models, we recommend this timer: http://www.inyopools.com/Products/02200022032590.htm. Amp draw for the 1hp motor is 13.8 amps, and 15 amps for the 1.5hp motor.
What is the voltage on this unit? How long is the manufactures warranty? If the system requires repairs during warranty, what do I do?
This pump runs on 115V power. This unit comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. If the pump needed repair, you would call Hayward directly and they would put you in touch with a warranty service station in your area.
(5 out of 5 stars) Replacing an older model
Reviewed By: Slew from Richmond, VA ()
Pros: Quieter than the older model
Cons: None so far!
We needed to replace an 11 year old pump that had not been well taken care of nor used in four years. So easy to switch them out! We were up and running in 15 minutes.
