I just purchased the powerFlo LX 1.5 for my above ground pool, but my old sand filter can’t handle the pumps pressure for more than a couple minutes. What is the smallest compatible sand filter for this pump?
Reply
Hello, on average a 1.5 hp Hayward PowerFlo LX pool pump matches well with an 18-21 inch diameter above ground pool sand filter.

What is the best pump for a 33rd round above ground pool?
Reply
If you are not restricted to use a certain pump as many of the pump/filter combos by Pentair, StaRite, and Jacuzzi will require the original pump that was sold with it to make the connections from the pump and filter. A 1.5HP or 2.0HP is a great choice (For round above ground pools over 24 ft. (pools with more than 15.300 gallons) use a 1.5 HP pump.) The Hi-Flo Above Ground Pool Pump 1.5 HP 115V with CORD & 24 HOUR TIMER - PD11506-TIMER (Standard 3-Prong Plug) is a very nice pump that would work great for a 33' round pump. Here is the link to the other above ground pool pumps we offer http://www.inyopools.com/productlisting/pumps_aboveground.aspx

Looking to replace the capacitor in this motor, but I don't see it on the part list. Before taking it out, is there any way to know what capacitor it uses? Thank you.
Reply
sorry but no. You will need to at least look at the capacitor to get the mfd rating to match it up. You should be able to get the information without removing. If removing, be very careful & you will need to discharge the capacitor after removing the leads as it can still hold voltage.

Bought the Haywood above ground Power Flo LX. It has no ON/OFF switch. How does it work? How do I turn it off and on?
Reply
Dolores, the Hayward Pool Products Power-Flo LX 1HP, 115V, Single Spd. Pump is shipped less the On/Off switch. The On/Off Motor Switch - SPX1500S8 would be compatible with the Hayward Pool Products Power-Flo LX 1HP, 115V, Single Spd and is available for individual sale.
Reply
Will it work without the on off switch? I have never ever heard of such a thing. Selling a pump without the ability to turn off and on.
Reply
Dolores, The pump will work without the switch it will always be running when plugged in. Most pool owners purchase one of these Pool Pump Timers that the pump plugs into, you then set your timer to have the pump turn on and off at certain points throughout the day.

When wiring the receptacle or plug-in for the pump, is a 20 amp breaker sufficient or do I need a 30 amp breaker?
Reply
Hi. A 20 amp breaker will be sufficient if this pump will be the only equipment running on that breaker. If not, then a larger capacity breaker is required.

I have a Hayward SP1580Z2. Has a twist plug. Can I replace w/ SPX1250WA Straight prong?

John, If you have a twist lock cord, your local code may require it. I would recommend checking with a local electrician to see if the use of a 3 prong cord is allowed.

I have a 6 year old Hayward Pump Power Flo LX model #S48E48A04 HP 40GPM It does not have a basket. It is being used in a water feature and supplies enough water. I would like to replace this unit with a new Hayward product. Either a new Power Flo LX or the Power Flow II. What new model would be the equivalent?
SP1580, SP1775?
Thank you

Don, If it's a Power Flo LX, the SP1500 series Power Flo will replace it. The SP1580 would be correct if you are replacing a 1HP pump.

I have a 300 gal water fountain with a 24 inch sheer descent , currently own a Hayward 1580 1 hp but it has too much water flow for the sheer descent. I'm looking for something smaller . How many hp has the sp1540c can't seem to find the specs, also what kind of filter would be good for this application.
Thanks!
Reply
Hi Patrick, The SP1540C pump is not HP rated but is rated on the flow rate which is 40 GPM.

I currently have a Power Flo Matrix SP 1510-Z1-XEHC but it just died on me. I don't seem to find a replacement for this exact pump. I'm wondering if the listed pump would be ok as replacement. My current pump connects on the side to the filter. This appears to be on top. Can that be turned so it connects properly or is there another part that I would need. Thank you for your help.
Reply
Hi Mary, The Hayward Matrix 1 HP w/ Switch Motor (SP1510Z1XE) will be the correct replacement motor. The Power-Flo LX 1HP, 115V, Single Spd. Pump discharge can be rotated. Instructions on how to rotate the discharge can be found in our How To Rotate the discharge port on your Hayward Power Flo Pump.

Is the cord the three prong twist and lock type? Is this pump suitable for a 15x30 with a 52inch wall?
Reply
This model does not have the twist lock plug and is suitable for a 15 by 30 ft, 52 inch pool. You just need to be sure that the gallons per minute rating for the pump is compatible with the filter that you have. The model of this pump with the twist lock is SP1580TL.

I have a sp1510-z-1-esc that someone gave me but it doesn't have the power as my other! can you recommend one similar. thanks.

JD, Depending on what size filter you have, the Power-Flo LX 1HP, 115V, Single Spd. Pump could be a suitable replacement.

I currently have a Power-Flo LX 1.5HP pump motor. Will a Power-Flo LX 1HP pump motor work with my current pump ie Does the 1HP and 1.5HP motors use the same pump? Thank You
Reply
John, If you 're want to change just the motor from 1.5hp Thru Bolt Motor to 1hp Thru Bolt Motor you can, however you will need to change the to a 1hp PowerFlo LX Impeller to match the hp of the current motor.

I have the Power Flo LX pump and it says the model # is SP1580Z2. Do you know if this would be the correct pump to replace it with? Thank you!

I intend to replace my circa 1985 American Products pump with your Hayward Power-Flo SP1580. Can I use the current electric cord which has two wires, Black and Red? Also does the unit come with full wiring info?
Reply
Hello Barry - You can use your existing cord as long as it is being plugged into a 115v outlet. A wiring diagram will be on the label of the new pump motor.
Reply
Does this pump come with an on/off switch? What is the amp draw of the motor?
Reply
This motor does not come with an on/off switch. We recommend the following timer for 1hp models: http://www.inyopools.com/Products/02400001004822.htm. For 1.5hp models, we recommend this timer: http://www.inyopools.com/Products/02200022032590.htm. Amp draw for the 1hp motor is 13.8 amps, and 15 amps for the 1.5hp motor.

What is the voltage on this unit? How long is the manufactures warranty? If the system requires repairs during warranty, what do I do?
Reply
This pump runs on 115V power. This unit comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. If the pump needed repair, you would call Hayward directly and they would put you in touch with a warranty service station in your area.
