Hayward Vari-Flo XL multiport control valve, made of our exclusive PermaGlass XL™ material and engineered for maximum flow at lower pressure drops will be the choice in multiport valves. It will retrofit any filter that has an SP071113 valve that needs replacement and upgrading.
All Vari-Flo control valves feature an easy-to-use lever action handle that lets you "dial" up to six valve/filter functions: filter, backwash, waste, rinse, closed or recirculate. Complete with an integral sight glass that lets you see when the backwashing cycle is completed, our wide selection of valve configurations allows you to match the right Vari-Flo valve to the proper application; residential, commercial, top-mount or side mount.

can you open the VARI FLO MULTI VALVE and is there a rubber gasket inside or how can you check to see if it is flowing correctly and operating correctly. The reason I am asking is that I don't see any water flowing through the glass cup on the side of the Multiport Valve. I might have a blockage. Please reply
There would only be water flowing through that glass sight glass when the valve is in the waste, backwash or rinse cycle. As long as water is flowing back to the pool when in the filter, and water is being discharged when in the first three settings I mentioned then it will be functioning correctly.
Hello, I was reading your Q&A on multiport valves for Hayward Sand Filters. Found one similar to mine, but appears I need to provide you info. I have the multiport valve SP710XA-13. Your listings do not indicate a replacement for this. The Filter Tank is a Hayward S200 series, S/N 4879 and in small print is says s200x on the side of label. Model identified on the label is S200 High Flow Series. Installed in 2002. Cannot find any ID markings on it. Center to center = 5", Diam. pipes = 2"
Hi Chris, Since your label says you have a Hayward S200 filter then this is the correct replacement valve for you as this is the only valve that has been used on the S200.
Does this valve fit the s-240 manufactured in the late 80s
Gary, This will fit the S240 filters regardless of age. Here is a breakdown of the filter: http://www.inyopools.com/pool_parts_hayward_s_200_s_240_sand_filter.aspx
Is the SPX0710x32 and the SP0710x62 valve interchangeable with the Hayward S200 sand filter.
Hi Eddie, Only the SPX0710X32 valve will work with the S-200 sand filter.
I need a plastic nut which broke on my valve
Ray, Unfortunately, the valve unions can not be replaced.
What is the center to center spacing of the fittings that go in and out of the valve to the sand filter. Is that spacing the same for either size valve.
Hi, The center-to-center spacing is 5" for both the 1.5" and 2" valve.
My vavle says sp 710x32 so does the spx 710x32 fit my filter also?
As long as your model number is listed in the alternate part numbers listed in the item's details then this would be a replacement valve. It looks as if you may be missing a "SP' of some sorts in front of this model number.
Will this Vari Flo Multiport Valve 1.5 work on my S240 sand filter? How can I tell if I need a 1and 1/2 inch or a 2 inch. It holds 300lbs of sand. Since it was installed in 1992, I can not find any numbers on it. If I just replaced the top part, which part do I need? Thanks
Yes this valve does work on the model S240 filter. You would need to measure the diameter of the pvc glued to the valve itself to decipher whether it is a 1.5 inch or 2 inch. These should be only 1.5 inch though. Sometimes the pvc is labeled as well with this information. The lid for the valve would be key number 20 on this parts diagram. One is for the black and one is for the white lid/top.
does the sight glass have an o-ring on a vario-flo s200 hayward??????????
Yes these sight glasses have a gasket being part number 4700-11.
I need to replace my Hayward side mounted multi port valve. The only number I can find is SP710XA-13. I purchased a 710 series valve but the lower pipe going into the filter is about 1" too high. I can't seem to match this model # that is on the existing valve. Any thoughts?
Hello, Hayward makes a few different side mount valves. We will need to know the model number on your filter tank.
I have an old s-200 filter with a valve part no.sp-710-32. The pump and return openings are the same size facing the same way, straight back. Pictures of the replacement show two opening configurations. One which are the same (like mine) and another which shows two different sizes and which face in two different directions. Which configuration does the replacement have?
Hi Charlie, The images we have on the Generic Version of the S200 Valve shows the port configuration better. The port configuration on the Hayward original would be the same as shown on the images for the S200 generic valve, I hope this helps.
I have a Pac Fab SP-710 sand 1 1/2" 6 position valve that needs replaced is this the correct one. It's on a Pac Fab super Flo sand filter and is a side mount.
Hi Jason, For the older Pac Fab filters which used the Hayward SP-710 valve then the proper valve replacement would be the Pentair 261173 Valve.
will this fit sand filter model no. s244s
Will this multiport valve support salt water without breakdown ?
Yes this valve can accomodate salt water at the levels of a traditional saltwater pool which is 3,000 - 4,000 PPM of salt, however the pump would not withstand ocean water which has a much higher concentration of salt more in the range of 50,000 PPM of salt.
Do you have Parts #SP710x62 1.5 Vari-Flo Control Valve for Model S244S?
Hi Ed, Yes we do carry all the Parts for the Hayward SP710X62 Valve here.
Is Hayward model number SP0710X32 the correct valve for the S-200 or S-240 sand filter?
Yes, model number SP0710X32 is the correct valve for the S-200 or S-240 sand filter.
Is this valve the same as a Hayward SPX710X32 valve?
Yest, the SP0710X32 and the SPX710X32 are the same valve.
I need parts for my filter valve. When I look at the filter parts breakdown, it gives me different choices. How do I know which one is the one I need?
In order to locate the correct parts we will need to know the model number of the filter valve. Two identical filters can have two different valves. Typically the valve model will be located on the label of the valve. If there is no model number on the valve, you can try to see if there are any part numbers on the valve itself. Once you've located you valve model you can check out our >Filter Valve Parts.
I have a Hayward sand filter with a SP710 multiport valve. Do I need the SPX710X32 or the SPX710XR50?
(5 out of 5 stars) Great replacement for Original
Reviewed By: Stephen S. from Anderson, IN ()
Pros: Perfect fit replacement
The original valve that came with our pool was 11 years old. The internal plastic had spread apart and would not longer seal good even with a new spider gasket. I bought this valve to replace the original and it was a perfect fit. The entire job including pipe connections took about one half hour. Everything worked perfect and I had absolutely no problems.

Pros: Price/easy to install
I had been searching for this valve for 2 years. Mine was leaking very badly. On every website it was almost as expensive as the whole filter/valve set up. Inyo pools had it $60 cheaper than anywhere else. Fit perfect and runs great. Install was easy. I had it in in 20 minutes.

I bit the bullet & ordered on line. worked out well got what I wanted, came within a reasonable time frame, paid the duty being canadian which made it around $30 cheaaper than the local store. That would be my only beef a way of calculating the duty for out of country buyers.
