Mine is a Hayward power flo LX Mod # S48A84A04. I want to verify this is the proper replacement because I see the frame or FR #'s are different. Mine is 56Z and the new one is 48Y. my 1777961 has a pneumatic switch . Is this motor compatible? How can I tell if it is a problem with this switch and not the motor?

Hi, Ken. This motor does not come with a pneumatic switch (On/Off) but you may be able to reuse the switch you have. You can try wiring the motor directly bypass the switch to see if the motor runs, if it does not then you know the motor is dead.

A     Answered on 5/9/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

Yes, you can but usually, that entails using an inground pool pump. Also, you want to be sure that the gallons per minute rating on the filter can handle the flow rate of the stronger pump.

Hi, I have a pump motor Century Pool A.O. Smith BN25 part number 7-177894-24. The motor has been making a very loud screeching noise so I figure it time to replace it as it is 12 years old. Can you confirm this is the correct replacement. Also what is the power requirement? My current motor has a 230 volt plug and the outlet is 230 volt so I need to make sure this pump works with 230 volt plug. Thanks

A     Answered on 9/28/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Megan C.

Hello, Larry. Unfortunately, this motor is only 115V. It would be the correct replacement motor using part number 7-177894-24 or 177894 for those whom are 115V only. The BN35V1 is the only dual voltage Thru-Bolt motor I have been able to locate. Using this motor with your existing impeller will be okay, because you have not decreased the size of the motor. Don't forget to replace the shaft seal any time your replace the motor or impeller.

When ever you change out a motor, we would recommend you replace the shaft/pump seal as well. You will need to identify what pump make and model you have in order to locate the correct replacement part. The motor information will not be as beneficial as this replacement motor will fit on a number of different pumps.

The correct replacement motor for the Sta-Rite JWPA 1HP is the 1 H.P 115V Thru Bolt Motor - BN25 single speed. If you are looking to replace the 2-speed version you will need the 1 HP 2 Speed 115V Thru-Bolt Motor - BN37V1. We would also recommend that when replacing a motor that you change out the pump seal. The replacement is the Pump Seal 201 - PSR 201.

?     Asked on 7/5/2016 by Keith

I need to replace my 12 year old JWPA5EL series 1 HP motor on 27 ft round, and I see the BN25 is the choice. 1) Would there be any gain in upgrading to the 1.5 HP motor w/same impeller? 2) Now, the shaft seal leaks, psi reads 14-15 (9-11 normal and I would clean cartridge @ 12), and water flow is pretty much abysmal. Is this attributable to the motor, impeller, leaking seal, or all? Note, I verified no restrictions to flow in the plumbing.

A     Answered on 7/9/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi Keith, There are no benefits upgrading to a 1.5 hp motor if you keep the same impeller. A leaking shaft seal does not lead to high filter pressure. You will have to replace the motor BN25, Shaft Seal and Volute O-ring along with the cartridge.

I have a E91 pump need a motor replacement. Pool is above ground 24 foot round. You can't read what HP on motor. It is a 2 speed. Wondering if this replacement of 1 HP will be enough.

A     Answered on 9/25/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, The 1 HP motor would be okay but you would want to make sure that the impeller is not size for a larger HP rating.

A     Answered on 9/1/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi Lloyd, The 1 H.P 115V Thru Bolt Motor (BN25) would be the correct replacement motor for your model pump. The replacement does not come with a power cord so you will have to reuse your current power cord if one is used.

I see that this would replace A.O. Smith/Century Pool Jetted Tub Motor. The part # I have is: Part 7 177893-24. Would this replace it? How long does it take to ship? I'm concerned with installation are there instructions ?

A     Answered on 8/13/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

Linda- It looks like part number 7-177893-24 is replaced by BN24V1 3/4 HP Single Speed Motor. Motors usually take 3 business days for delivery. There are no instructions, but you can watch this video for a general idea.

I have a A O Smith motor as part number 7-177760-23 on label which brings up this BN25 as it's replacement. There is also a sticker on the motor that says it's a 1.5 HP A O Smith SPL. ?? Not sure if this is the correct motor.

Hi Eddie, The 1 H.P 115V Thru Bolt Motor (BN25) is the correct replacement for p/n 7-177760-23. The 1.5SPL is a reference to the windings in the motor not the HP.

Will this motor match mine which is Power-flo SP1700Z2? My electrical board cracked on my motor, can it be replaced?

A     Answered on 6/18/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Peter, This 1 H.P 115V Thru Bolt Motor (BN25) can replace your current motor on the Hayward Power-Flo pump. I would recommend confirming the p/n off of the impeller to make sure you're getting the correct size motor. The electrical switch can be replaced on some motor, if you can reply with your motor info I can see if it's available.

Replacement for Sta-rite pool pump motor . model JWPAS5F-2A4U

A     Answered on 5/1/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Earl, I am showing that the JWPAS5F-2A4U is a 1-1/2 HP pump and would need our 1-1/2 HP JWPA Replacement Motor. When replacing your motor I would strongly recommend replacing your JWPA Shaft Seal as many times if you use your old shaft seal it will not mate up properly with the new motor and leaking will occur.

I'm trying to find a replacement motor for my pool pump but my model number doesn't match what you have listed as the model number. My model number begins with a C48 and yours begins with an SP. Please help.

A     Answered on 1/18/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

What we have listed on our chart pages is the pump model number. The model number you have will just identify the motor. If you look on the plastic housing on the pump there should be a sticker which will have the pump model number. You can usually find this by the discharge port on the pump. Once you locate it you can choose the correct replacement motor. Be certain to change the shaft seal and gaskets as needed. You can use our >How to guide if you need help.

Why should I purchase a Tune Up Kit?

A     Answered on 1/12/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

A Tune Up Kit includes all of the essential replacement seals and gaskets for the pump. The seals and gaskets should be replaced when installing a new motor on your pump. New seals will prevent the pump from leaking water or losing the prime. A Tune Up Kit will protect your motor and ensure that the pump is working efficiently.

Why do I need to purchase a new shaft seal?

A     Answered on 1/12/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

We strongly recommend replacing the shaft seal. The purpose of a shaft seal is to prevent water from running down the shaft of the motor and into the motor housing. Water will damage the bearings and cause the motor to fail. A new shaft seal should be installed whenever a motor is replaced. The motor manufacturer can deny the warranty if the motor fails to due to water damage from a faulty shaft seal. To find your shaft seal you will need to visit our Pool Pump Parts Page or the Spa Pump Parts Page and select your make and model.

What is Service Factor?

A     Answered on 1/11/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.
