What is the voltage on this unit? How long is the manufactures warranty? If the system requires repairs during warranty, what do I do?
 Reply

This pump runs on 115V power. This unit comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. If the pump needed repair, you would call Hayward directly and they would put you in touch with a warranty service station in your area.

When should I change the sand in my filter?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/27/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

You should change the sand in your filter every 5-7 years. You can generally tell that it is time if your pool water is not as clear as it normally is or when you notice the interval between backwashes is shorter. You can use > this guide to walk you through it.

How often do I have to replace the sand in my filter? What is normal operating pressure?
 Reply

A  Answered on 3/1/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

On a "fresh start-up" a filter would operate anywhere between 10-20 psi. As a general rule of thumb you only want to backwash when the pressure increases 8-10 psi. You want to make certain that the pump is being turned off whenever you move the handle on the valve. Once backwashing is complete (3-5 minutes), you can switch to the rinse option to re-settle the sand bed. Sand will typically last 5-7 years. Premature backwashing will wear down the size of the sand which will cause difficulties such as cloudy water and higher operating pressures.

Bobby, Take a look at the images for the Hayward SP0714T valve. We have an image of the valve setting that will help.

Does this unit come with a cord and plug for the motor? Do you have a video showing how to remove the old filter and replace it with the new?

Hello Gene, S166T92S Hayward Pump and Filter unit doesn't come with a cord, you would use your previous cord. Unfortunately, we don't have a how to guide on replacing the cord.

what size filter do I need for a 5500 gallon above ground pool
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/14/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi. A 5500 gallon pool does not require a large filtration system. I would recommend the VL40T32 or the S144T1540S systems.

Hi, I have a 12x24 x 54" deep hard wall oval pool.I need to replace sand filter & pump.Is this item suffecient? I previously had a 1.5 dual speed pump. Can I filter & vaccuum w/a 1hp? Or would I need a dual speed 1hp ? Was told the 1.5 pump was reason I had sand in pool.Any help or steering me in right direction is much appreciated.

Hi, Joe. This S166T92S is sufficient for a 12' x 24' x 54" pool. You will be able to vacuum and filter with this system, however, not simultaneously. I would recommend the S180T92S which has a bigger filter.

This pump filter system is more than enough for that size of a swimming pool.

Hi. I have problem. When I set FILTER, water flows not only from in / out pool hosepipes but with backwash hosepipe too. What can I do?
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/17/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Aidan F.

Hi Michal,Typically leakage out of any port that the valve isn't set to indicates that there is an issue with the spider gasket. I would recommend opening the valve up to inspect whether the gasket is seated correctly and still in good condition. If it isn't, then we can replace it depending on the specific make of your valve.

Water is coming out of backwash hose when pool is filtering. any help appereciated. Thank you

A  Answered on 6/13/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Matt S.

Usually, that is a sign of a bad spider gasket or diverter spring within the valve. Have you opened the valve to determine which of these parts it may be?
