The item describes it as a main drain bumper. Which is it and how and where does it go? Apparently I have had this item for years, but not sure why it was bought.

The SP1048AVH is a Main Drain Bumper. It clips onto your main drain and prevents the automatic cleaner from getting trapped on the cover.

My pool has two main drains and the Hayward Navigator keeps getting hung up on one or the other. Is this the fix for that and if so, how does it attach to the drain?

The bumper clips right onto the Hayward Anti-Vortex main drain cover. This will prevent the Hayward Navigator from getting stuck on the drain.

This goes on an 8" round Hayward pool drain. We also carry a universal pool drain cover which would help out if your cleaner is getting stuck on your main drain.

This part doesn't appear to clip onto my main drains. The clip teeth are too wide for the gaps between the spokes on my drain covers. This pool was installed in 2006. Must I purchase and install particular drain covers that his part will fit, or are there different bumper parts for other drain covers?

Hi, Lam. This bumper is designed only for the Hayward Anti-Vortex SP1084 Series main drain. The SP1084 series main drain is no longer available so it can not be purchased.

Hi, Lam, This bumper fits the old style "Hayward Antivortex Cover (SPX1048E)" which has been discontinued and replaced with the Hayward New Style Cover (WGX1048E). However, this bumper will not compatible with the new style cover.

I have the NEWER style drain that this doesnt fit. Do you sell a product that fits the new 8" Hayward Main Drains?

Hi, Jay. This bumper is only compatible with main drain manufactured prior to 2008. There is not a bumper that will fit the new style main drains.
