I have a pool that is about 10,000 gallons but I am thinking of buying a salt chlorine system for pools up to 20,000 gallons. Would the larger unit be a problem?

It is not a problem to oversize a salt system.  It would take the larger unit less time to produce the necessary chlorine so it is actually more efficient.  When the pool volume is very close to the capacity of the salt chlorine generator (for example, the pool is 18,000 gallons and the generator is rated at a maximum of 20,000 gallons), we would recommend going up to the next size generator.

Is the salt included with the salt chlorine generator?
 Reply

A  Answered on 2/29/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

No, salt is not included.  You would purchase the salt locally and the quantity will depend upon the number of gallons of water in your pool.  Use a salt that is at least 99.8% pure NaCl. The preferred salt is evaporated, granulated, food quality, and NON-iodized.  Avoid using salt with anti-caking agents like sodium ferrocyanide, also known as yellow YPS (prussiate of soda). These cause some discoloration of fittings and pool surface finishes. DO NOT use calcium chloride.

What is the gray sencor in the return to pool

The sensor on the return line would be the flow sensor. The flow sensor will shut the salt system down if the flow is too low.

Can I control the system remotely from a computer, phone or tablet?
 Reply

Hello Fonz - Yes you can control the AquaPlus from a computer, phone or tablet. The AquaPlus would require the addition of the Aqua Connect Home Network and the Aqua Logic Base Receiver.

Hello, if you want to control the PH for your system you will need the PLPS8PACK with AQLCHEM and AQLCHEM3120

I have an Aqua-Plus, panel saying "no salt cell power" is there a fix for this?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/28/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Joe S.

You want to ensure the salt cell was clean. If and after it is cleaned the unit still reads no cell power. You would want to take it to a store to have the cell tested.

I use a Raypak PS165VSP, will this unit control the variable speed pump? Also, I run the pump at low speed during the day, what is the minimum required flow for the Hayward salt cells to produce chlorine?
 Reply

A  Answered on 9/1/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Jonas. This Aqua Plus System is unable to control a variable speed pump. It also needs a flow rate of 15 GPM to activate the flow switch so that chlorine can be generated.

I have an Aqua plus, reading on the display board says 2700 but brought the water to get tested the reading is 3200. I've had to turn up the chlorinator to 80% and running it 24/7 and it still is not making enough chlorine. But when I super chlorinate, it makes plenty of chlorine. After super chlorinating, I run the chlorinator as usually and after a couple of days no chlorine in the pool. The cell had a mild acid wash, one guy says it the cell the other guy thinks it the board. How do I know?

A  Answered on 7/12/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Sonny. Compare the cell amp and voltage in Super Chlorination mode and in Auto mode. As the cell ages the cell will have to operate at a higher output level to keep up with chlorination demands.

My remote for my Aqua plus system only works if i'm within five feet of the antenna on the main unit-can I replace the antenna-I've looked every where and can't find it

Hi, David. The Wireless Antenna - AQL2-BASE-RF is the replacement. It requires a software of 2.60 or higher. You may also have to replace your wireless remote.

I have a Hayward Aqua Plus about 5 years old. I have ordered new T-cell, but the panel is showing "Check system CSM Com Error" and last night the lights failed to come on. I can turn off pump and manually turn lights on, but when pump is running I get the error" External Input prevents turn on" or " Interlock prevents turn on" I do not have an owners manual. I also do not find a way on this unit to recalibrate the salt indicator. Any ideas?

Hi, Allen. It appears that you have multiple issues, use the ProLogic/AquaLogic Consumer Troubleshooting Guide to properly diagnose and resolve those issues.

My Salt readings are appearing very low (2600) on the meter readings although a test done at a Pool Supply facility indicates higher readings (3000). How can I calibrate the Aqua Plus System so the readings are the same OR, is the T-Cell going bad. It is now about 4 years old and our Chlorine levels remain in the desired ranges with the chlorinator running at 50%.
 Reply

A  Answered on 9/16/2019 by Industry Professional

Have you cleaned the cell this year? Is the amp reading in the range for your cell? The amp level tells you if the cell is working to full power. At 4 years old that would be coming to its end on the life cycle.

I have a Hayward AquaLogic AQL-PS-8 and want to upgrade to the newer model to use mobile phone. I have the 40k gal Tcell. I only need the controller. Which Hayward product should I consider. Pool, Spa, main pump, overflow pump, cleaner booster pump, spa lights, pool lights, and 2 aux relays for yard lights. I want to be able to use the current installed Tcell since it is only 6 months old. Really looking for mobile phone use for integration.
