Yes, this would be sufficient for your size swimming pool as you have approximately 11-12 thousand gallons of water.

What's the difference between the above ground and in ground models? Can I use an inground model on an above ground pool?
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/17/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Andrew. There is not a major difference between the above ground and inground units. With the Pureline unit, main the AG models does not have an LCD display like the inground model. You can use an inground system with an above ground pool.

How long is the wire between the salt generator and the control unit? And can it be extended if needed? I have about 10 feet from the pool to my house as the closest mounting point and I will need to run the wire under the ground.

Hi, James. The controller's power cord is 5 ft and the cell cable is 13 ft in length. You are able to use a longer power cord if needed, you will have to remove the existing one in order to install the longer power cord. The power supply will have to be installed to electrical code in your area.

I have heard 100 different stories, does the salt system rust the metal top railing and will it eat the coils up in my heat pump?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/9/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

Hello Danny- You are correct, using a salt system on an all steel pool will cause the rails and other parts to rust from the salt content. It will also cause damage to a standard copper heat exchanger. They always recommend going with Cupro-Nickel heat exchangers for salt pools.

I had an intex pool and loved the saltwater syste. We moved and our new house has a 24'' above ground pool. Went to local pool supply store and they said it will rust your frame and void any warranty left. Will this salt cause any corrosion to my above ground pool?

Hi, Michael. Yes, operating your pool using a saltwater system can cause corrosion of pool parts.

How much current does this draw? It says it is important to run it on the load side of the pump timer; is a standard 20 amp breaker and timer strong enough to power both this and a standard 1.5HP pump?
 Reply

A  Answered on 3/12/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Justin, This system draws roughly 5 amps. Yes a standard 20 amp breaker and timer are strong enough to run this salt system and a 1.5 HP pump. If you go with a Twist Lock cord then you can use this 20 Amp Twist Lock Timer.

Is it possible to convert this to a twist-lock plug?

Hi Justin, Yes we would suggest you purchase this Twist Lock Plug to convert from the standard 3 prong which is included with the system.

Was considering this or PL7709 for a salt system. Just have an above ground pool so the 20k size would work but seems a lot of people are going larger so it runs less and they last a bit longer. Is one better then the other offer features etc? Is there anything else I need to install I have 2 inch pipe running from my heater out that currently necks down to goto the chlorine unit I already have a check valve after my pool heater. If there is anything else needed please let me know.

Hi Lorenzo, If your pocketbook can afford it then I think the PL7709 40,000 Gallon Crystal Pure would be a great system for your above ground pool. As you stated the larger cell will mean that you run the system for shorter periods of time which means much longer life on the cell. The power supply on the PL7709 seems to be a bit more durable than the PL7706. The PL7709 does not come with a 3 prong 115V plug installed so if you want this feature then you need to purchase this 3 prong 115V plug the PL7706 does have the 115V cord pre-installed.

Ok thanks for 100 more then that's what I will do.... I could hardwire the system in place is it ok to leave it outside the brain of it for sat I would remove the other parts as I do bring my pump and all the plumbing inside for winter.

Hi Lorenzo, Yes it would be fine to leave the power center outside.
