Hi, John. You can manually balance the pH level or install a separate system that will monitor and adjust the pH level. This system is unable to automatically the pH level.

Hi, Isaac. The power center does not have a pump outlet. An external timer will be required to power the pump and this system.

Hi Julio, The 20,000 Gallon systems will output 1.06 lbs. (480 grams) of chlorine per day, The 40,000 Gallon systems will output 2.1 lbs. (952 grams) of chlorine per day and The 60,000 Gallon systems will output 3.18 lbs. (1,442 grams) of chlorine per day. For more tropical climates we would suggest upgrading to a larger model as this will give you the extra chlorine production if you ever need it.

What are you referring to with regards to the pl7701 being rated for 700 hours of operation?... is this it's life expectancy?

I was considering replacing my current unit with a new one from your company. Resuding on the gulf coast of Florida I run my pool filter (19,000 gallon) app.10 hours per day.
This particular unit would have to be replaced in 1 1/2 years, correct?

My above ground 15X30 Ester Williams pool is12000 gal., with a Hayward chlorinator, pump and DE filter. My skimmer goes directly to the pump and filter, filter goes to the chlorinator and to the pool inlet. Where do the parts for the salt water system get placed? How is the Salt added? Do I keep the chlorinator? How much salt do I need to start up a salt system and how much for a season? (Late May to early Sept). Can you include a diagram in your response? Thanks, John

Hi, John. The Controller is mounted on the wall, the cell and flow switch will be installed after the filter. The salt is added directly to the pool's water. This system will eliminate your chlorinator. Check out our How To Install a Crystal Pure Salt Chlorine Generator guide.

I'm looking to replace my Pentair IC 20 system will the cell from these units screw in using the same unions or will some plumbing work need to be done?

Hi Scott, This cell does come with various unions and it will accommodate the Pentair unions however the cell length is different so there will be some minor re-plumbing. We do have the PureLine Crystal Pure Max Salt Chlorinator which has the exact same cell dimensions as the Pentair Intellichlor which would mean no re-plumbing if you go with the PureLine Crystal Pure Max Salt Chlorinator.

Thank you. I currently have the Pentair IC20. I think I'll be replacing it with the Pureline 40,000 gallon unit ONce I verify that the cell for my Pentair needs to be replaced. It looks like for the cost of just the Pentair cell, I can replace the entire unit with a larger Pureline.

Im being advised that to protect the pool equipment from corrosive effects of salt, it is a good idea to install a sacrificial anode. I do not see anything about this in your FAQs

Hi, Yes this is all you will need to convert your pool to salt minus the salt itself. The PL7708 will be creating all of your chlorine needs so whatever you were spending in Chlorine will be your chemical savings as you will no longer need to purchase chlorine tablets, liquid chlorine or shock. You will need to keep your pH and CYA within proper levels, the pH is normally adjusted every few weeks with muriatic acid and your CYA is adjusted every few months with Stabilizer.

I am considering the PL7708, I have 1 1/2" piping and limited space on the return line. Will this work with my pipe size and can the cell be mounted vertically? My pool is 18,200 gallons this model should be ample correct?

Hi Sue, Yes this cell can be used with 1.5" pipe and the system includes these adapters, also the cell can be mounted vertically. Yes, this system will work on an 18,000-gallon pool. If your pocketbook can afford it then we always suggest oversizing to the 40,000 gallon Crystal Pure Salt System as you will get longer life out of your salt cell and the larger cell will really allow you to crank up the chlorine production if you ever get into a demanding situation like an algae bloom. With this being said the 20,000-gallon system still would be sufficient.

Hi,
Just purchased and installed PL7708 system. I placed flow switch before the salt cell. After the install I realized that the requirement for the flow switch to be placed before the salt cell is for it to have at least 12 inches of straight pipe in front of it. I only have 8 inches of the pipe in front. Is this going to be an issue for the proper operation of the system? Do I need to cut it and reverse places of the flow switch and salt cell? (hope not).

Hi Amber, This PL7708 PureLine Crystal Pure Salt System would really be the main item you need. You will require salt which you can purchase at your local hardware store, for a 10,000-gallon pool you will need about 8 bags at approximately $8 per bag. For startup it would be helpful to have some Salt Test Strips We also carry this Salt System Accessory Kit which includes a stand for cleaning your salt cell, salt test strips and a winter dummy cell. Nothing special needs to be done in regards to your D.E filter. Your D.E filter would stay in place as that is the device which filters the debris out of the water. The salt system is a device which manufacturers chlorine to sanitize the pool. The D.E. filter and salt system serve two separate functions.

I am buying the VS pump PL1615 and the salt generator PL7708 today and I have a final question. Currently I have a timer with my single speed 240V pump. How will I wire the salt generator? Will the control box automatically start if I use the timer? Can I connect the pump and the salt generator thru the timer? No sure if you understand my question. Please let me know

Hi Allen, I have a similar set up on my pool and I don't have the salt system set up on a timer, I just have the pump use its timer, the salt system will only produce chlorine if water is passing through the flow switch. For example if you have your pump set to run for 8 hours and you have the salt system set at 50% then the salt system will produce chlorine 30 minutes out each hour that the pump is turned on, so in this case 4 hours total. So the salt system controller will have power all the time and it will produce chlorine based on the flow switch.

Hi Allen, Just the direct of the flow switch is what matters there is an arrow on the flow switch and you will want the water flow to flow in that direction. The direction of the cell doesn’t matter.

Hello, I have a kidney shaped pool with approximately 14-15,000 gallon as best as I can calculate. I been purchasing the 40,000 gallon salt generator for many years and my thought/question is: Have I been over buying for my pool all of these years? Going forward, should I simply purchase the 20,000 gallon salt generator and save myself some money? These units are very expensive and do not last very long even when well-maintained. Your feedback is much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hi Joe, We always suggest going with the largest system and largest warranty your pocketbook can afford. Here is our reasoning... 1.) The cells are rated on hours of use a larger cell will have more blades meaning it can produce more chlorine, in return you can run your cell at a lower % output which means the cell will run for few hours and you will get a much longer life out of the cell. With the larger cell if you get into an algae situation you can crank up the production to 100% to produce some serious amounts of chlorine. 2.) A cell also goes bad when the Rithinum coating wears off of the titanium cell blades and the higher warranty systems have more Rithinum coating on the blades thus making the cell last longer. So to answer your question I would stay with a 40K system.

The LT model comes with a 1-year warranty and the standard model of this 20k series comes with a 2 years warranty.
