Model # JMSAFE5
Alternate Part #'s JM-5-1, JMPJMSAFE5
(NON-CHLORINE SHOCK) is a non-chlorine shock (but not a persulfate compound). O2 Safe Shock yields more than 12% active oxygen (3 times more oxygen than persulfate compounds). O2 Safe Shock can be used as an acid wash pretreatment, making tough copper stains much easier to remove. Please Note: Not recommended for chlorinated pools, but ideal for biguanide, ozone, and ionization systems. NOTE: This product should only be used with Stain Solution #2

Pros: works
Cons: cost
Kid of expensive but it works. I had my fiberglass pool all tinted yellow of copper stain (you need to do the test before to see which metal you have). The pool is 25K gallons, with salt system and automatic PH-ORP control. Yesterday night around 9pm(may3,2012) I dumped 2 gallons of LOWES muriatic acid, 15 pounds of O2 safe shock and when the water stop "boiling", I added 25 pounds of #2 copper stain treatment. This morning the pool is MORE BLUE than the sky and all the yellow of the copper has disappeared, even from steps, and skimmer plastic. Tonight I put 1 quart of blue magic (sequestrant), and slowly start increasing the PH (the treatment eats all the alkalinity and leaves you with ph in the mid 3s, or low 4s...). You can not use this approach if you have a heater with copper pipes, but the new hayward with titanium pipes are safe. In 2-3 days of baking soda adjustment (3-4 pounds at a time, do NOT add all the sams-club 13lbs bags in one shot otherwise you will get the metals back on the surface) and the pool will be ready to be used. To keep metals off your walls, keep a low ph (7.3) and you will be set for 2-3 years if you have good sequestrant in the water..... Then you repeat the process again. Metals slowly accumulate in the pool water. They come from city water (water evaporates, metals dont), small leaks rusting rebars, organic matter, dust (or even worst, well water). You can not do much about. S

try ascorbic or citric acid first. If they do not work, then use the jacks solution.
