Hello Dave. AquaChek use procedures indicate that the test strip is dipped into the water for 2 seconds, firmly shaken 1 time to remove excess water, then placed pad side down into the test strip window. The strip is placed into the back of the channel at a 45-degree angle and laid flat. Be careful not to slide the strip across the viewer window which results in inaccurate readings. Afterwards, clean the window with the cleaner provided or use a cotton swab. Attached please find a brief Q&A concerning different readings when using the TruTest Meter. different readings when testing with my TruTest meter This Q&A also contains a brief video tutorial. If further difficulties are encountered, please contact AquaChek at phone 970-278-4951.

My meter is 5 years old and I am getting extremely high alkaline results e.g. 220-240. These numbers are 100 ppm higher than when I go to the pool store and they do their readings. My pH and Cl are close. Do I need to replace my meter? I did put in fresh batteries and get the same results.
Reply
Hi, Paul. Before replacing the meter, check the expiration date on the strips, and make sure the sensor is cleaned. If both are good then the meter is bad and will need to be replaced.

Is using this meter for checking pool chemical levels accepted the same as traditional testing methods by county and state health departments?

Hello Steve, you would want to use Taylor Water Test Kit Commercial - K2005C.

Going to salt water pool do I use the same test strips as chlorine?
Reply
Yes, the test strips you use to measure the chlorine and pH levels in your pool are the same. You may want to purchase Salt Test Strips to measure the salt content of your pool if your salt system does not provide that information via a digital display.

I have issues with hard water and high alkalinity. What can I do? I have lowered Alkalinity with muratic acid but water hardness is a pain
Reply
Hello Annette, The only true way to reduce the calcium hardness levels in your pool is partially drain water from the pool and to introduce fresh water. Unfortunately, there is not a product on the market that you can add to your pool to reduce calcium hardness levels.

Are the strips single use or can on strip be used multiple times?

Hello Paul. I retrieved this from the Aqua Check site itself - Q: Is posible to use test strips several time (two or more times)? Thank you very much. A : It is not possible to use the test strips again after they have been wetted with sample. The chemistry is depleted after the first use and the test strip should be discarded. This page would have many other possible questions and answers you may have

I just purchased these test strips from a pool store but I'm having a hard time telling the difference between the colors, is there something better?

These test strips should be used with the digital reader they are designed for. The digital reader will display the numeric values of the pH, alkalinity and chlorine.

Following the instructions on the TruTest unit, I turn it on, press the button that tells me to dip, shake off excess water, place the strip in the slot on the meter, and within seconds I have an accurate reading for chlorine, pH, and alkaline.
This is so easy and allows me to keep the pool in good chemical balance. I test and adjust more frequently because it is so fast. As long as I have a pool, I will never be without it.

This testing kit is easy to use and allowed me to easily check my PH and chlorine levels.
Just take a digital test strip and dip it in the water and shake off the excess.
Then place the test strip in the slot and wait for the results. Easy to use and very pleased with results.

I live 30 miles round trip in any direction for a pool dealer. I would have to take a sample of water to get tested. My pool water has given me a problem clearing up this spring . It's simple to use and well worth the money.

I purchased the digital because I wanted a faster reading without all the color matching. It is very fast and seems to be a close reading if tested twice. The alk reading is high just as others have said about it. I got an extra bottle of strips so I could learn on a few. Looks like a solid unit so far.

This products saves time, gives a more accurate reading, is less messy. It is so brain dead even my 6 year old get get me a reading. You also get a history of readings, which can show trends which may indicate best ways to treat the water.
