Can I replace my A O Smith #C48K2N143B1 motor with his higher efficiency motor? This is on aa Hayward Super Pump II.
Looking to replace my UST1102 with UCT1102. I have looked on the pump housing and the number seems to be SP1600-D (see photo).
1. What other parts would I need to replace the motor?
2. What would I need if I want to replace the entire pump AND motor?
3. If I wanted to add timer to the motor, what would you suggest?
Hi, Jbcreger. You will need the Super Pump Tune Up Kit - GOKIT3 or GOKIT3SALT. You can use the Prime 1 HP Pump - PL2601 or the Hayward Super Pump 1 HP - SP2607X10. As for a timer, the voltage is required which can be selected from these Intermatic Timers.
looking to purchase this pump to replace UST 1102. I look on the pump housing and the only number I see is SD-1600-D I beleive (see photo). From this...
1. What other parts would I need to replace the motor?
2. If I wanted to replace the whole unit with a pump/EE motor what would you recommend?
Yes, this would be the correct motor. You should also order a new pump seal also OEM SPX1600Z2 or seal assembly kit SPX1600TRA.
Just to verify, will this be a high efficiency replacement for the AO Smith C48K2N1431 motor, used on Heyward "Super Pump" model # SP2607X10? I would like to also get the shaft seal & impeller replacement.
I have a Hayward Super Pump. Would this motor be an appropriate replacement for my existing? Thanx
Thanks for answering my question yesterday and I was pointed to the right pump for my filter, but I want to get an energy efficient version of my pump if possible. I have a Jacuzzi Magnum pump that has a lock ring that needs to go over the pump. Will this one work? It looks like I will need to temporarily remove the capacitor at the top to get the lock ring over, if possible even. I attached pictures of the pump and motor.
Thanks! I noticed some variable speed motors listed as compatible with these motors you listed, would any of those be compatible with my magnum pump with the lock ring as well?
Hi, Sorry to trouble you. Do you sell the 110/115 wire harness with 3 prong plug for this 1 Hp motor? Thanks in advance for your response.
I purchased a new Motor CT1072 from you for my Hayward Superpump II. I need to connect my existing cord to the new motor. The existing motor is set at 230V. The heavy duty cord has three wires. Two green and one black. One green which is longer than the other I know is connected to the ground screw. Where do the other two wires go and which one is the hot wire (black or green). Also does this motor come pre-set at 230V and if not how do I change it from 110 to 230V.
Hi, Ted. Once you've identified the Ground, the other two wires are your HOT (115 volt) leads. I would recommend that you use multi-meter to test the leads confirming the voltage.
I am want to replace a standard 1 hp AO Smith/Hayward motor C48K2N143B1 with a EE Version is UCT1102 the correct replacement? Is the GoKit3salt the correct seal with everything I need to perform the motor swap on a Hayward SP2607X10 ? Do you recommend anything else for require parts to perform the swap? Thanks
Will the Energy Efficient 1 HP UCT1102 motor be a direct replacement for my 1 HP A. O. Smith ST1102 (1081 Design) motor and does it come with a shaft seal or must I order that separately? I already have a 3-piece Hayward pump seal kit.
Hi Dale, This UCT1102 is not a replacement for your ST1102 Motor. Please click this link for the UCT1152 Energy Efficient Replacement Motor that you will require. Your ST1102 motor is a 1 HP full rate motor which is equivalent in power to the UCT1152 motor which is a 1.5 Up Rated Motor. The motor does not come with a shaft seal. I'm not sure which Hayward Pump you have so I can't make a suggestion on a seal, the most popular Hayward Pump is the Hayward Super Pump, if you have a Hayward Super Pump then you will need this Hayward Super Pump Shaft Seal.
1) What other parts will I need to buy when replacing the motor - New impeller, seals?
2) Will this motor work as a replacement to:
Amps 10.6/5.3HP 3/4
The SF of this motor is 1.0 where the SF of UST 1102 is 1.10
I thought that the SF of the replacement motor must equal or exceed the previous motor...
Nate you are correct however since the SF difference is so minimal we have not seen any issues using the UCT1102 as a replacement for the UST1102. The manufacture Century also promotes the UCT1102 as an energy efficient replacement to the UST1102 and you would have the full 1 year warranty if using this motor as a replacement to the UST1102.
Replacing my C48L2n134c2, is this the correct replacement motor? Also, can you confirm the seal kit? Thanks
Hello - the correct direct replacement motor is the A.O. Smith 1 HP Full Rate Round Flange Motor - ST1102. If you want the Energy Efficient alternative, you can use the A.O. Smith 1 HP Energy Efficient Round Flange Up Rate Motor - UCT1102. The seal kit is based on the make and model of the PUMP you have (not the motor). You will need to identify the pump information in order to determine the correct seal kit you need.
will this be an exact fit to replace a Hayward model number C48K2N143B1
1 HP KW .75
Hi Joey, Yes, the UCT1102 is the energy efficient replacement to the C48K2N143B1 motor.
I want to replace my dead motor Model # C48K2N143B1 with a more efficient one. I was wondering if I should get the UCT1102 or the UCT1152? Thank you, for your time and help in advance.
Hi Angie, The energy efficient version of your C48K2N143B1 motor would be this UCT1102 motor and this would be the correct replacement for you.
do you sell bearing repair kits. Model # K63CXEPY-4766. it is made by U.S. Motor
Hi, We do not have the bearing info for the U.S. Motors, I would recommend contacting U.S. Motors at 888-637-7333 for assistance.
What other parts such as a new seal should also be installed when putting in a new pump
This will be dependant on the condition of the other parts. You may need to replace some of the other seals and gaskets as well. Usually we recommend to purchase the entire seal kit just in case they are needed. The kit type would be dependant on the model of the front pump housing. It would also be wise to inspect the impeller as well for any damage or cracks.
Is this motor now made by Century???
Technically, yes. A.O. Smith and Century Motors merged into a larger manufacturing company called Regal Beloit. The sticker on the motor may say, A.O. Smith or Century.
I am looking to replace an ST1102 1HP motor on a Hayward Superflow pump. I think I would like to upgrade to variable speed for more energy effeciency. I see the STS1102 and UCT1102 and was wondering what the difference is? Also, it appears that I would need some additional parts, like a timer or special switch, is that correct? I also have to ensure that the replacement motor is the exact same length as the installer left me barely enough room to extract the motor. Thanks for your help!!!
Hi Wayne, The STS1102 is a dual speed replacement motor and the UCT1102 would be an energy-efficient single speed motor, neither of these would be a variable speed motor. Here is the link to the Variable Speed Motor for the Hayward Super Pump, the variable speed replacement motor does have a controller so no additional timer would be needed. We have Detailed Dimensions of the Hayward Super Pump Variable Speed Replacement Motor here, I would take a look at these dimensions to determine if this motor will work for you. We would also highly recommend a Hayward Super Pump Tune Up Kit when replacing your motor.
Will the AO Smith UCT1102 cost less to run than the UST1102?
Yes, the UCT1102 will cost less to operate compared to the standard UST1102. Depending on how the motor is cared for, it should last several years. When replacing the motor, I would recommend buying a tune up kit based on your pump model and age.
I'm trying to replace the motor on my pool pump but all these numbers and abbreviations on the motor label are really confusing me. What do they mean?
Replacing a pool pump motor is not as difficult as it seems. You can try looking here. If you need help figuring out what the information on your label means. If you are still having difficulty figuring it out you can call us at our toll free number or you can send us a photo of your motor label here.
I'm trying to find a replacement motor for my pool pump but my model number doesn't match what you have listed as the model number. My model number begins with a C48 and yours begins with an SP. Please help.
What we have listed on our chart pages is the pump model number. The model number you have will just identify the motor. If you look on the plastic housing on the pump there should be a sticker which will have the pump model number. You can usually find this by the discharge port on the pump. Once you locate it you can choose the correct replacement motor. Be certain to change the shaft seal and gaskets as needed. You can use our >How to guide if you need help.
Why should I purchase a Tune Up Kit?
A Tune Up Kit includes all of the essential replacement seals and gaskets for the pump. The seals and gaskets should be replaced when installing a new motor on your pump. New seals will prevent the pump from leaking water or losing the prime. A Tune Up Kit will protect your motor and ensure that the pump is working efficiently.
Why do I need to purchase a new shaft seal?
We strongly recommend replacing the shaft seal. The purpose of a shaft seal is to prevent water from running down the shaft of the motor and into the motor housing. Water will damage the bearings and cause the motor to fail. A new shaft seal should be installed whenever a motor is replaced. The motor manufacturer can deny the warranty if the motor fails to due to water damage from a faulty shaft seal. To find your shaft seal you will need to visit our Pool Pump Parts Page or the Spa Pump Parts Page and select your make and model.
What is Service Factor?
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

I simply took a picture of the label and sent it to INYO pool and they emailed me a couple of mothers to choose from with detailed instructions , I even called to ask a couple of questions and the lady on the phone was so helpful
(5 out of 5 stars) Perfect replacement motor

Pros: Great company to work with.
Great customer service, price and delivery. If you live in FL, use ground shipping and you will still recieve product by next day (if in stock). This is the high efficiency version of the motor I originally had. Works just as well as the original and uses less electricity to run.

Pros: quiet energy efficient
So far have had it installed for about a week. Replaced an A.O. Smith UST1102 motor that had bearings go on it. This new motor is VERY quiet, I also ordered a new impeller and the gasket kit to redo everything up to the pump. This was my first time doing it myself and it went great. The youtube vids from Inyo were a great help.
(4 out of 5 stars) quiet running motor
Reviewed By: tank from Kenton, TN ()
Pros: good fit, helpful videos
Cons: poor packing, inspect motor first
WATCH the video on replacing the pump motor before starting! They are very helpful. Motor was easy to install, direct fit with the enclosed 1/2 inch spacer block for older Hayward Super Pump. Get the tune up seal kit and replace when doing motor, not worth the hassle of having to go back into it. (Videos for this too) My only reason for not giving a 5 star rating is the 1st motor I received was locked up and would not run, bench test before installing. The replacement I received was fine, don't know when I've heard my pump this quiet!

Pros: quiet, great price
We ordered this pump as a replacement for our Hayward Super Pump II, 1 HP, which finally died after 8 years. It was an easy replacement and is super quiet. I upgraded the shipping to 2 day and called customer service right after I placed my online order. The rep I spoke with was very friendly and got it taken care of right away. My pump arrived on the day they said it would and it was quickly installed.
(5 out of 5 stars) RUN QUIET
Reviewed By: pool boy from Lakeville MN ()
Pros: uses far less power
I replaced my standard motor with this high efficiency motor. It uses almost half as much current as the standard motor. I was surprised how quiet it ran. when I purchased this motor I also purchased the shaft seal. I was glad that I ordered the shaft seal, since mine was shot when i took my pump apart to replace the motor. The reason my motor quit was because of the leaking shaft seal. So i recommend buying a new shaft seal when replacing the motor. So far I am very happy with this purchase.

INYOPOOLS was great in helping me locate the proper motor for my pool. Not only did they ship immediately, (I received it the next day) but they also sent me all the instructions for assembly of the impeller, seal kit, etc. to assist me in its installation. When I discovered that I also needed a new diffuser the following day, they sent it right away and I received it the next day. I am so pleased with my first experience with INYOPOOLS that I have recommended them to my friends. Great Job!! Thanks
