PureLine 2 HP Replacement Pool Motor for Pentair & Jandy brand pool pumps

Is your pool pump motor running loud, leaking or humming? These are all signs that it’s time to be replaced. The PL2853 PureLine Replacement motor is designed as a drop-in replacement motor for some of the most popular 1 HP pool pumps like the Pentair Whisperflo, Pentair Challenger, Pentair Super Flo, Jandy Stealth and many more.

The PureLine replacement motor is made of the highest quality components like sealed ball bearings which means it is an ultra quiet motor. Because of its high-quality construction the PureLine replacement motor is backed by a full 2-year warranty.

When it comes to replacing your motor Inyo has you covered we have created a ton of resources to make this project a snap, like our Video on How to Replace a Pool Motor this video walks you through all the steps to replace your motor. Most of our customers decide to tackle this project on their own and by following our video they complete this project in about an hour.

When replacing your motor we highly recommend a tune up kit which includes all the seals and gaskets for your pump. Many times when you use your old seals you may have leaking and seal leakage is one item which will void the motors warranty so make sure to protect your investment with a tune up kit. Below we have listed the tune up kits for some of the most popular pool pumps.

The impeller is: 25305-130-000 (Based on a quick internet search, that looks like the 2HP impeller, I think)
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/4/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

So based on that impeller part number your impeller is rated for a 2.5 hp motor which is too heavy for the B2854. With that motor, you will need impeller part number 5074-27B

We have a WhisperFlo 011774 pump. The motor was replaced a year ago with a Century B2854, but this motor smoked last weekend. I'm wondering if this Century motor was under-powered, and that's why it burned up? (We have a 22k gallon pool + several water features and a waterfall) Would the motor shown on this page be the correct replacement motor? (I'm all for energy savings, if there's a more efficient option - trying to make sure the motor is up to the job).

 Reply

A  Answered on 9/6/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, David. Based on the info from the original pump, the B2854 motor is undersized unless the impeller was also changed and this PL2859 is the correct replacement. Usually, an undersize motor wouldn't last more than a few minutes or hours of running. I recommend confirming the impeller size or number before replacing the motor again.

Hi, Dean. You're unable to just downsize the motor without changing the Impeller, Diffuser and other components. We will need to know the make and model of the pump housing.

Hello - the PL2859 would work but the drop-in replacement motor would be the 1.5 HP Square Flange 56Y Full Rate EE Motor - B2842. Both the B2842 and the PL2859 have the same total HP output but the B2842 is a little bit cheaper to run.

 Reply

A  Answered on 6/5/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Charles, The motor on this page is NOT the correct replacement motor for the motor included in your photo. You will require this PL1072 3/4 HP Replacement Motor The reason I suggest the 3/4 HP is because you have a 1/2 HP full rate motor and this 3/4 HP Up Rate Motor has the exact same true HP as your 1/2 HP, so it will be the correct replacement. You will also need this Hayward Super Pump Seal Kit when replacing your motor. We have put together this Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you may find helpful when you tackle this project.

Hi Alan, This is NOT the correct replacement motor for the motor included in your photo. You will require this B2748 2 HP Full Rate Replacement Motor When replacing a motor we suggest a seal kit. To determine the proper seal kit we will need to know your pump make and model information, common pump names would be Pentair Whisperflo, Pentair Challenger, Jandy Stealth, etc.. To supply this information click the reply link below, also if you could send a few photos those are always helpful as well. If you send photos then take a close up shot of the motor label as well as a wide shot of the complete pump to include the pipes going in and out of the pump. To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get any of this information we can make the proper recommendation.

its a 230 AC Volt hook up, the Green is your Ground so attach that to the Green colored screw in side the motor the 2 red do not matter which terminal connection on the motor it hooks up to as it has no polarity. There should also be a copper wire or could be green wire that attached to the outside copper lug to the motor, this is a chassis ground for surge protection please make sure to hook it up. Hope this helps

There is not a kit available for your model pump, the seal will have to be purchased separately which are all listed on the  Jandy Stealth SHPF & SHPM Series Pump (2008 - Current) parts diagram page. You will have to investigate what timer(s) you currently have and how it is program to determine when your low speed is set to engage.

Hi, Alfredo. This PL2859 will NOT be a suitable replacement, I recommend the B2843. The seals will have to be purchased separately which are all listed on the Jandy Stealth SHPF & SHPM Series Pump (2008 - Current) Parts Diagram page.

hi thats the different on this 2 pool motors USQ1202 l and B859 motor
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/29/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi guaranda, The USQ1202 has a narrower barrel of the motor, however, the face of the motor is the same dimensions. Normally both of these motors are interchangeable sometimes if you had wider barrel motor and you go with a USQ motor then a spacer is needed. Could you email us the make and model of your pump and then we could suggest the proper replacement.

The correct motor for the 011582 will be the 2 HP Standard Motor - Full Rate (B748, B2748). Also when replacing that motor you will need to change the seals. We suggest GOKIT32 or for a Salt pool GOKIT32SALT.

Why should I purchase a Tune Up Kit?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/12/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

A Tune Up Kit includes all of the essential replacement seals and gaskets for the pump. The seals and gaskets should be replaced when installing a new motor on your pump. New seals will prevent the pump from leaking water or losing the prime. A Tune Up Kit will protect your motor and ensure that the pump is working efficiently.

Why do I need to purchase a new shaft seal?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/12/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

We strongly recommend replacing the shaft seal. The purpose of a shaft seal is to prevent water from running down the shaft of the motor and into the motor housing. Water will damage the bearings and cause the motor to fail. A new shaft seal should be installed whenever a motor is replaced. The motor manufacturer can deny the warranty if the motor fails to due to water damage from a faulty shaft seal. To find your shaft seal you will need to visit our Pool Pump Parts Page or the Spa Pump Parts Page and select your make and model.

What is Service Factor?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/11/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.
