Will this replace the motor on a Pentair Superflow 340040 2hp?
Just looking to see if this would be the proper replacement for my pool/spa motor which stopped. Working.
Hello - the PL2859 would work but the drop-in replacement motor would be the 1.5 HP Square Flange 56Y Full Rate EE Motor - B2842. Both the B2842 and the PL2859 have the same total HP output but the B2842 is a little bit cheaper to run.
I just want to check if this motor will be the proper replacement for my Pentair motor which failed recently. The specs on my failed motor are as follows:

Please email me.
I have a pool pump motor that needs to be replaced. do you have something that will work?
Hi Charles, The motor on this page is NOT the correct replacement motor for the motor included in your photo. You will require this PL1072 3/4 HP Replacement Motor The reason I suggest the 3/4 HP is because you have a 1/2 HP full rate motor and this 3/4 HP Up Rate Motor has the exact same true HP as your 1/2 HP, so it will be the correct replacement. You will also need this Hayward Super Pump Seal Kit when replacing your motor. We have put together this Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you may find helpful when you tackle this project.
Hi sir, I have B2859 Pureline 2hp. However once I got to the wiring it became confusing. What are the position of the hook up wires from the old pump. Here is the pictures.
Use the 2 center terminals on the new motor. L1 and L2. Connect the green to ground and the 2 other wires to the center connectors. Dont worry about which color it works both way.

trying to replace a burned out 1 1/2 hp sta-right motor with this one ........i have 2 red wires and a green( ground) supplying 230 volts... would i be able to connect them ?
its a 230 AC Volt hook up, the Green is your Ground so attach that to the Green colored screw in side the motor the 2 red do not matter which terminal connection on the motor it hooks up to as it has no polarity. There should also be a copper wire or could be green wire that attached to the outside copper lug to the motor, this is a chassis ground for surge protection please make sure to hook it up. Hope this helps

Ok. The 1 5 hp pump motor is drawing 11.1 on a phase and 11.5 on b phase. Witch is over the max of 10.4 Amps . Its getting really hot , and tripping out on thermal overload. This pump motor has been replaced three times over the years . I think it was under sized from the start . Should I move up to a 3hp or 5 hp pump ?
Hi Nicholas, Do you have the model # information for the pump? This would be something like Whisper Flo (WF-), Challenger (CHII-, Starite DuraGlas P2RA-, etc.. This information should be on the pump housing side near the pump basket. If you could get this information it would help a lot. Click the reply link below to post this information or any photos.

I want to replace the motor on my Jandy Stealth Pump SHPF. It is an A.O. Smith 1.5hp 2 speed. It's part # is 7-193990-07. Pool installed in 2011. What replacement motor do I need? What pump kit needed and your description on this model mentioned a hi/low switch. Do I need that since I run the pump on each speed? I don't manually switch from to one speed to the other. When the timer comes on in the morning it is set high speed running and the evening it is set for low speed.
Hi, Larry. If you reside outside of the state of California, you can replace your dual speed motor with this PL2859 - 2 HP single speed motor. There is not a kit available for your model pump, the seal will have to be purchased separately which are all listed on the Jandy Stealth SHPF & SHPM Series Pump (2008 - Current) parts diagram page. You will have to investigate what timer(s) you currently have and how it is program to determine when your low speed is set to engage.

Is this only a 230 volt pump or can it be wired for 110 also? I am replacing model no. k48m2n111.
hi thats the different on this 2 pool motors USQ1202 l and B859 motor
Hi guaranda, The USQ1202 has a narrower barrel of the motor, however, the face of the motor is the same dimensions. Normally both of these motors are interchangeable sometimes if you had wider barrel motor and you go with a USQ motor then a spacer is needed. Could you email us the make and model of your pump and then we could suggest the proper replacement.

Hi, Riki. Yes, you can use this motor to convert your dual speed pump to a single speed or use the SQS1152R which is the correct replacement for Part # 7-177145-06. You will also need to get the Challenger Pump (CH Series) Tune Up Kit - GOKIT5.
I have a pump model# Fw-8/011582, 2 HP, SF 2.60, 230V 60Hz, Max Amps 11.5, thermal protect KG code Gans self Priming Pump. which pump is compatible with my Pentair whisperflo?
The correct motor for the 011582 will be the 2 HP Standard Motor - Full Rate (B748, B2748). Also when replacing that motor you will need to change the seals. We suggest GOKIT32 or for a Salt pool GOKIT32SALT.

Why should I purchase a Tune Up Kit?
A Tune Up Kit includes all of the essential replacement seals and gaskets for the pump. The seals and gaskets should be replaced when installing a new motor on your pump. New seals will prevent the pump from leaking water or losing the prime. A Tune Up Kit will protect your motor and ensure that the pump is working efficiently.
Why do I need to purchase a new shaft seal?
We strongly recommend replacing the shaft seal. The purpose of a shaft seal is to prevent water from running down the shaft of the motor and into the motor housing. Water will damage the bearings and cause the motor to fail. A new shaft seal should be installed whenever a motor is replaced. The motor manufacturer can deny the warranty if the motor fails to due to water damage from a faulty shaft seal. To find your shaft seal you will need to visit our Pool Pump Parts Page or the Spa Pump Parts Page and select your make and model.
What is Service Factor?
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

(5 out of 5 stars) Built Well and Easy to Navigate

First off, it's confusing to try and do this yourself when your not that inclined, but this pump replaced my Emerson eb859 that lasted about 3 years in Texas heat.. This unit looks like and is built well and it's easy to navigate. This motor has a two-year warranty which is better than most and it's very quiet which is awesome. My last motor started getting really really loud to the point where it was keeping me up at night if I was running it.. Eventually, it fried out and took the wires that gave it power to the switch box with it.... Nightmare really, but this motor arrived fast and worked as advertised.. I still can't believe how quiet it is and I appreciate the chat feature within this site that allowed me to speak with someone who told me to purchase this.... I got a great deal on it as well! So far so good.
