That high pitched winning sound is a key indicator that the bearings are failing in your motor.

Hi Cris, You will save on your operational costs by going with a variable speed pump. Our article on How Much Does a Pool Pump Cost to Operate goes into this in greater detail. The Speck Variable Speed Pump would be a good option for replacing a Jacuzzi Magnum Pump with a variable speed pump.

Hello Jeff, depending on what your motor model is we can check to see if we carry it for the Jacuzzi Magnum model. If you would like to double check with Jacuzzi 866-979-4501 to check with a tech on your motor specs to get you the right capacitor.

I have a question about the power consumption of the 1HP Magna flow. My old pump is a 1.5HP Hayward Maxflo. It has an Emerson motor that lists the current as “SF amps 8.7/7.8/15.6.” The service factor is 1.3. The Carvin motor lists the current as “Amps 7.0/14.0.” with a service factor of 1.25 Since it's comparing SF amps to FL Amps, I'm not sure the 1HP is lower power. Can you tell me what is the power consumption for both motors?

Hi, Jerry. This Magnum Force Pump does have a lower power consumption and is a higher performing pump than the Max-Flo pump. You can use our How Much Does My Pool Pump Cost to Run? Blog to calculate how much either pump will cost to operate.

My question is "Is there a start capacitor? and if so where is it located?" so that I can try to change it and see if that is the problem. Any other thoughts on what might be the problem? Thanks.

Some motor models may or may not technically have a "start" capacitor so in order to confirm we would need the motor model, part or catalog number.
